Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good noon,

I just went and looked at the garden in the rain,, no puddles.. the garden is sloped so I didn't expect any,, but now the cukes and squash have popped out.. like almost four leaves popped out.

the weeds are popping up , too.. nothing can be done about that until we get a couple of dry days in a row..

good point CC, I just assumed that the mesh would be installed on the outside of the door..
the 11th commandment,, ( thou shalt not assume..)

the small fencing staples will hold the mesh to the door very adequately ..
use a needle nose pliers to hold the staple when starting it.. saves your fingers..

Brent, maybe you could get CC's neighbor to come mow your lawn in the rain..

good rainy morning,

what I did was buy a cheap wooden screen door, then add the wire mesh to it,, I used 1/2 inch,,
lay the door on something nice and flat and staple the mesh good and tight,
doing so will keep the door square and it reinforces the frame..

make sure the door fits the opening first ..
Yup, kinda figured it should fit first. But, that sounds like a great idea.

That's a really good idea Jim. The only thing I'd really add is make sure the stapled side is facing out, otherwise I'd be afraid they (preds) might push the screen & hardware cloth (wire mesh) inward & the staples might let loose if the wood is soft. I guess they could pull the cloth off toward them too.

Some screws with washers every so often would help to reinforce the mesh to the door. Just a thought.

So, what would happen if I put the wire mesh on both sides of the opening? Air flow wise.

Suzie just pulled 2 doz bread rolls from the oven...down to 21 already...it will go good with the big kettle of venzun veggie soup....rainy days are good for soup and fresh rolls.

I would never be lucky enough for someone to come cut my lawn Jim.

Hi All!

2nd son came and worked his butt off for me! Got most of the coop cleaned and set up the little coop so I can get the first batch of young ones out of the house. He even fixed the lawn tractor ..... again. He also did a bunch of other stuff too. Got to love a kid like that!

Nothing else here.... Night All!

Lost Gimpy today, she had just started to use her leg really good. DS dog got her. A friend visiting did not know the chickens were out and let the stupid dog out. DS buried her in the Chicken Resting Place. Losing one a month, at this rate, winter comes, I will have no Chickens.
