Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Nice afternoon to all...just finished freezing our stuffed peppers for the season. We picked 19 large bells, and the freaky part is that the tightly stuffed peppers were perfectly tuned to the amount of stuffing....some weighed 1 1/2 lbs and most being around one lb stuffed....I'm pleased with the results today...we used 5lbs of ground chuck and all the other veggies and tomato sauce.

Thanks Jim , that sounds like a good way of doing it, I woulda never thought of that. It's amazing the tricks that are around for easy peasy, otherwise tough jobs!

Peacock...you need to check your local ordinances to see if they allow poultry in your area...simple phone call might help, if you talk to the right person.....some folks in town aren't your best friend.

Today I have Bear scat 10 feet from the back door when I walked out this morning....sweet! It was a healthy pile too.

My sister lives is a subdivision with 5 acre lots, all heavily wooded. Her neighbor had peacocks and let them free-range. Those birds pulled all the weather seal from the skylights on their house over the course of a month. Sis eventually got somewhat used to the "screaming woman" noises that the peacocks made, but the neighbor didn't help at all with the window replacement costs... They were so glad when the wildlife got the last of those peacocks. Especially when the birds were cooped, the noise was very irritating - many of them complained but the owner would just pen the peas for a week and then let them out again.

Ashwaubenan Chicken Rules are on-line. Municipal Code section 4-5
In summary -
Permit required to keep chickens.
Written permission from neighbors to get permit.
Species limited to Chickens only.
You can have 4 hens, no roosters.
Must be cooped and/or fenced run - no free-ranging.
Run limited to 40 square feet.
See Municipal code for much more restrictions and rules.

Well, I broke the lawn mover. It won't turn left. I have a feeling it is something simple ... it was working just fine and then WHAM it wouldn't turn left. Turns right just fine, goes straight and back. The wheels just won't turn left. Glad I was finished with mowing for the day.

Sorry to hear about the gosling. So many things can go wrong when they are babies.
