Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Morning all, kids on bus and drinking my coffee before I have to go teach my first class. Did not have to go to the clinic to teach today, the room was being used for something else. Peeled back the low tunnel so that the rain could get into where I planted, will put it back up this afternoon after I am done teaching so that it can warm back up under there. Looks like it is going to get a bit chilly at night again for a stretch. All 4/5 of my tomato varieties came up well, the black cherry ones had and 83% germ rate which is not bad, but I want all 18 plants, so I stuck a couple more seeds in the dirt. Today planning to plan my gailan for the chef in town. Will need 2/3 of a bed each week for him, hoping that I can use transplanting to be able to make the space a bit more effective.
Took the new chicks box outside yesterday as well. They are 2w1d at this point and have back and some chest/neck feathers now. Box was deep so they did not get any wind, but they didn't lay around in the sun like ours did last year. In the big girl coop, the bare butt buff is officially broody. Had to peel her out of the nest to get a bit of fresh air, love that purring sound they make.
Strawberries huh?

yup, strawberries.
I am thinking of doing 2 5 gallon planters' worth,.
maybe planting some in landscape cloth .
make a hill like for potatoes and spread the cloth over it.
I thought of using black plastic, but then that creates the problem of watering them,
I don't want to get into irrigation.

good evening,
I was just outside , not raining,,,,yet..

I worked every shift ever invented.
never liked any of them,  lol
.when I went into my own business I worked all the shifts every day for some periods of time.

today I got the 2 discs mounted.
I didn't plan on getting them done. but the rain held off so I just kept poking along.
now it will be too wet for a couple of days to try them out.

DD Barby has hundreds of raspberry plants.. way too many for her yard.  and today she told me she has too many strawberries.
I am not taking any raspberries, but I am thinking I might try about 50 strawberries.
Anybody close to me want any of either ?    both ?

no eggs today,  I had the dogs loose early.  when I was making coffee this morning I saw both of them go into the coop..

there is a very good chance that Frankie is PG.
puppies should be due about June 15..

ETA:  a storm just went to the nort of us.  Corey,  it should hit you about NOW>>>

.........jiminwisc..........
It was about 10 o'clock and everything lit up. Pretty intense storm. Enough to put about a inch of water in my basement....guess I'll be cleaning after work

good rainy afternoon,
I went to F&F and picked up a few dozen 7/16" locknuts.
I also got a new 1/2" drive ratchet ..
I am going to need a good one when I start moving teeth around on the cultivator.
I have been using my big torque wrench, but that is too expensive a toy for that kind of work.
I hope the new ratchet holds up for a long time..

I have a 3/8" 90 degree impact driver. I am hoping it will work.
I haven't used it for years.

Springtime day to everyone...good luck with your latest project Jim...I hope all the nuts and bolts fit where they need to be, and it's a effort worthwhile in the end.

Tonight it's pork loin fried in panko crumbs, winter squash, baked potato, and fresh warm bread rolls....I'm getting hungry talking about the menu. I just love fresh baked stuff from the oven...no preservatives....LOL!

Afternoon all.

Plants here are all growing strong, might evaluate transplanting some outdoors and sowing spring seeds as well. Need to check the weather.

Enjoy those strawberries!

I've got 6 chicks out and still eggs rockin'.

I swear my strawberry plants look like they are almost ready to flower. They are June bearing so it is early. If you would have said something, Jim, I would have sent you some plants. I have mailed them to people before. I have found homes for all my extras from this spring, but if anyone wants some later in the summer I will be overloaded again when they start sending out runners.

thanks for the offer.
I have tried strawberry patches several times, long ago.
I just gave up because I couldn't keep ahead of the weeds.
I didn't know about the 5 gal pail method way back then.
maybe it is curiosity , or it might be senility, but I am going to
try once more.. just to remind myself how futile it can be..

shop vac'd up over 100 gallons of water so far in my basement. We got so much rain so fast last night that the gutters and ground apparently couldn't keep up. Mother Nature is a real b*tch sometimes.

I stayed ahead of the weeds for 3 years in the beginning by laying down a bunch of newspaper followed by a light layer of bark mulch between all the plants. Any weeds that grew were on top of the paper and easy to pull.
