good evening,

I turned off the turner today.. 100 chicks are due on Sunday..
No pips yet, that is good..

I am informed that I am picking up another tray of Roma's tomorrow. at DD Barby's..

DD Brenda is taking us out for breakfast tomorrow morning..

also tomorrow, I am going to go get some pear tree cuttings.
It might be too late in the season,
but hey, can't turn them down
and what do I have to lose by trying ??

I am going to move two sweet potatoes into larger containers.
they swelled up so much that I can hardly pull them out of their jars.

Irish, I have two large raised cages. they are in need of some TLC, but I have never lost a chick to preds from in them, and I started thousands of chicks in them,,

there are pictures of them here in my picture files.
I don't plan on using them any more..

good morning,
computer has a mind of it's own this morning.

shaping up to be a gorgeous day here is Wisconsin !!!!

waiting for the garden to dry up so I can "mark" my rows.
I want to plant everything on hills.
I figure it this way, If I make long hills, there will be 3 times the soft fertile soil under the plants. and by scraping the dirt up, there will be a much shallower fertile dirt between the rows.
no sense leaving all that good dirt between the rows for the weeds to grow in.

I asked google, how many kernels of corn are in a pound ???
answer: estimated 1600...
for us it takes about 8 ears to make a pint.. we don't grow the super large ears..
we grow Serendipity .. medium ears,
but super sweet..

Ta Daaa!!! I just saw a flicker in the bator. looked in and chick #1 just hatched .. one down 99 to go...

CS, we picked up our fire ring from the place up here by Black Creek; very affordable. I picked up the size that you can fit a large Weber grill grate onto, so that if we ever want to cook over the fire we have that option (and it has been awesome for boils). Congrats on the hatch! Glad it all worked out for you!

Irish, so sorry about your losses...... that really does stink. :(

House hunting is going slowly...... I guess due to Easter being so late people have not been putting their places up for sale(?). We are not in a hurry, but the driving home every weekend is going to get sucky fast.

Looking forward to the Bash. :)

good afternoon,
Breakfast was good. Blue Willow. chicken fried steak.

Picked up a flat of strawberry plants from DD Barby.
also picked up 24 more Roma tomato seedlings.
she has everbearing raspberry plants, too. I have way too many raspberries here already.

I have to take the tractor bucket and knock down a couple of paths through the blackberry patch. per request from the main resident berry picker

3 chicks hatched, 97 to go...

Well, I was GOING to net the strawberries today BUUUUT, I am instead cleaning out the coops for the spring and putting the poo on the garden so I can get it tilled in. Then I will get a bunch of pelleted lime in a couple days, put that on and till again before planting.

I LOVE THIS TIME OF YEAR!!!!!!!!

soaked up a whole shift of overtime today and came home to work on my shed. I got the floor in, the walls sheeted/sided and the roof sheeted. I literally just walked in from going since 430 this morning. Might mix up a fish bowl old fashioned and watch some tv and relax finally.

well, I just now ate supper. call it a midnight snack.
there are about 8 chicks hatched now. too dark in there to get a good count, most of them are blackish..

a couple are yellow..

Corey, it is nice to be on a project that is going well and you can keep going and going until it gets too dark to go on any more.eh?

I think I will have a glass of Sangria and hit the hay..

Planted two beds outside of root veg and 3 of the 72 cell flats inside of lettuce, broccoli and herbs. Trying to decide if the lettuce that is up and has a set of true leaves will keep trucking if I borrow its heat mat for the next batch I plant. Went to menards for some 1/2 inch conduit yesterday as well. Was trying to decide how many I should get to start as I have not built my bender yet, but there was only one left so that ended that conversation... Sounds like all of you are quite busy as well.
