Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

:welcome Glad you new folks stopped by...pull up a chair and hang with us for awhile.
I'm behind in the garden, but I'll catch up eventually....more grass to mow with all the rain we have been receiving.
Another sign we a in the middle of summer...the black eyed susans are starting to appear.

Garden is growing well, but nowhere near close to all of yours! We did manage to get the garden weeded, the lawn mowed, and the brakes changed on the truck knowing that it would be raining for the next until Thursday. We still need to pack for a camping trip this coming weekend, but we did clean up the trailer and move it close to the garage.

I'd love to know your beer growing secret Jim!

Welcome to the newbies!

Hi CherMoz
sorry to say, my sweet potato slips are still stuck to the sweet potato.
lots of vines.
with everything else going on, I haven't planted them yet. I haven't planted my strawberries or grapes either..

If it isn't raining, it is too hot.

and to top it off, DD Barby gave me about 40 or 50 more tomato plants today.. some blossoms..

I am in a pizzy mood right now.
somebody flagged my Wausau Craigs List ad for the puppies. first time it has happened in Wausau for me.
too many ignorant people out there.

I guess I will run an ad in the weekly newspaper.

and then give Puppy Find a try ..

I am almost able to hide in my tomato plants while standing up. I have one more round of string to put up and I will be out of post. They are at about 5' now. Nice crop of maters on already just need to ripen.

Been working around the yard lots. I wish I had more time for a garden. I love fresh veggies I just can't see where it would fit in my day. Got a new chainsaw tonite. Pretty excited to cut some stuff tomorrow with it. There were so many options and when the hell did stuff like that get so expensive?!

talk about expensive !!
today Annie asked me to pick up the vacuum cleaner and the rug shampooer from the fixit shop. she gave me $200.oo . I nearly flipped !!
she said yes, $100.oo for each one.
a new vacuum cleaner like that one would cost $500.oo .. I lucked out, it came to only $187.oo..

Tonight I took pictures of the 6 female puppies to send to a potential buyer.

I think GS fixed my picture files. we will see on a separate post..

I mixed up both sprayers with fish fertilizer and went out and sprayed all the potatoes, tomatoes, peppers and some of the beans.

the tomatoes are finally showing some signs of growth.
the potatoes are getting humungous..
Annie squashed 75 beetles in the 190 foot row. not bad, really..

Nice Summer day for a change here.
Gardening can be as simple as you want it and still enjoy the harvest. While we are major gardeners and live off the harvest all year long after canning and freezing the harvest....we also do simple things like 2- 14" pots on the picnic table with the Spring salad mix from sandhill...we eat salad every day and never run out. We cut when mature, wash, spin and bag for the fridge...we harvest 2 full plastic grocery bags every cutting...depends on the weather how long it takes to need cutting....but a simple start to gardening like that will get you hooked for sure.....we love that mixture of delicious greens...it goes on everything you like salad on. The cost savings just on salad is worth the effort.

BigZ: You mentioned black-eyed Susan's in an earlier post. Here is my patch:

Jim, good luck on placing your puppies.

Quite impressive cher.....we created a meadow of them by picking big wild bouquets of them and then simply spreading the spent flowers around in our meadow...they did all the work and now we get to enjoy their beauty every year. Easy peasy works in so many ways to create things one desires..great looking meadow cher.
