Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Are the blackberries ripe yet? I don't have any near my house to check and see.
If they are ripe I will need to make a trip up to the north woods and pick some for pies.

our black raspberries are ripening, and the local pick your own raspberry guys are open for business.
our blackberries didn't set any blossoms, so IDK about them, but I think it is still a little early for them.

good morning, is anyone else having trouble with the "like" and "post reply" ?
when I click on them I have to wait a long time for anything to happen.
I finished mowing on Thursday. with all this nice rain, it looks like the grass is ready again,,,,,already ..
I had it all cut at the highest setting. I think next time I will scalp it, just to slow it down.. LOL
I mowed the strawberry patch. there was no way anybody could find any berries in there. the clover came up so thick..
I had them planted on hills. I think I will go in with Ollie and level them all flat.

That works really well to freeze them and use them for jelly/jam later....they actually seem to be more juicy doing it that way, and besides it's fun to think of the nice Summer weather when you are making stuff with them after Fall.

we didn't get enough from the one bush to do anything but eat them immediately.
they are seedy little bass turds..
I did a lot of utube searching about them.
one lady had a large patch. picked over 30 gallons..
One year, Annie set out to pick all of our blackberries in one day. she picked 100 pounds.. I have not picked half that many of all berries combined in my whole life ..
it is true, if you freeze berries, they juice easier. the freezing breaks down the cell walls..
today I mowed the lawn again/already.
I set the blades an inch lower.
after that, I took Ollie and back bladed the strawberry/weed patch . the berries were planted on hills. I knocked all the hills down. I will have to have another go at it in a few days. I would like for it to rain to soften up that hard dirt..
I have some leftover grass seed. it is a couple of years old. I will scatter it anyhow, if it grows, it grows.. if not, something will grow and I will mow that.
