well, at least all that paint protected the wood.
when we were kids, all we had were mismatched dressers. we thought we were poor, but in today's standard, we had some really nice antique furniture..
I bought a dresser and head board at an auction for $35.oo. it was old varnish that turned like black.. ornately carved. Annie insisted on stripping that, too.. underneath it is solid oak.. beautiful. but was a beotch to strip because of the carvings. I don't recall if it had a foot board.. I mounted the head board to the wall and we just used a box spring and mattress pushed up against it..
It is about 6 feet tall..
someday after we die, somebody will say, I don't want that old shti and throw it onto the burn pile..

Yep, good Packer win, but Rodgers is not a happy camper with the offense....
Makes me crabby reading about refinishing good solid wood projects, because I could not find help to move 3 computer desks from my banks basement that they were giving away....heavy as he!! and a lot of steps...deadline was last Friday....easily worth over $100 each....perfect condition with the exception of needed refinishing.....it was a dark red finish and difficult to tell the wood species, but cherry or maple might have been the wood, who knows?

Nope solid wood Jim...these were their old desks well over 50 years old...solid wood for sure.
Nothing new here...maybe hunting tonight...be nice to bag one before I have to sit in the extreme cold.

Back from hunting...I passed a perfect shot on a fork horn tonight.... I'm kinda after a big 8 and a big 9 that I have on camera...but would tag the fork later in the season for meat.....plus the temps are suppose to be in the 70's tomorrow....not in the mood to cut deer in a hurry.
It sure was fun to get out in the woods hunting again.
When the kids were all home and we could always use the meat, I woulda never passed a shot like I had tonight.

I'm loving this weather because I was able to get my good vest out of storage. The best gift Jeff ever gave me! Wandered around shopping today and running errands because I'm putting off packing. Did get a ton of laundry done, though, and ran around like a madwoman this evening getting everyone situated. THEN my daughter tells me she has to bake a cake before school tomorrow! It's homework. And she didn't want to do it at her dad's house because his kitchen is dirty. Well great....but now there's a bit of a deadline...eek!

I'll keep an eye out for olive eggers when we get to the new place, Raiquee! I honestly don't even know what everyone is laying out there, or exactly what birds we have.

Busy here today so it's a lazy FFF with Viking brand breaded cod patties and crispy Cajun oven fries....it will still be tasty without the deep fried foods..
