Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Never thought plus 10 for the temp would feel so good.
My birds aren't eating as much layer as they normally do either. Found a couple boxes of brat patties in the freezer that were old...so Suzie has been frying up brat patties for the girls and cutting into small pieces.....they are lovin those for sure...they are the ones with the cheese in them.
Nothing more entertaining than chickens, whether they are large or small!
Not quite shorts and T shirt weather yet for me.

@babylady4 So sorry that the bees didn't make it. It sure was a cold stretch there. Better luck next time.

@jvls1942 Nice to see you back on the BYC, hope you and Annie stayed warm and safe this last week.

The winds were blowing into the guinea coop so bad that I had them locked in from Monday thru yesterday morning. I had 3 guineas when I opened the door yesterday morning to let them out and I went to close their coop last night - only 2 birds were in the coop. It was dark out so I closed the coop up. This morning still only 2 birds in the coop, but after filling the feeder and letting them out for an hour, now I have 3 birds again... silly birds.

I just completed an autopsy of the hive. Looks like the hunkered down in one spot and basically starved, then froze.... tons of honey and pollen in that hive too. The leftover will not go to waste though, I’ll use the frames to start new hives.

I posted pics on the local bee club FB page for conformation, have the pros give me their consensus.

Sorry to hear about the hive failure bl4...must be really common for that to occur, because I hear that from all the folks at church that have hives. I'll talk to my neighbor who truly is a bee pro and see if his survived the brutal cold this year.
