I lost my favorite Red, Daisie, last summer, that's why there are 3 in that picture, we found her dead one morning still in the coop. no signs of illness or injury. still a mystery.

Cold, damp, rainy day, but no snow. Girls are beginning to lay again, which is nice. (I don't put lights on them, so eggs have been spotty.)

Got my 8 year old a guitar for his birthday. He is learning the saxophone, but has been really enamored with the idea of playing guitar. His birthday isn't until July, but we picked it up this week so it wouldn't get sold (he was very attached to this particular one). He got to strum it a little today, but it's back in the case until July. It's going to be a long few months!

Deep cleaned the basement chick pens and snapped some photos. Love this little one, an ayam cemani. Black on black on black. Cool looking little bird.

They got some apple bits today, a little alfalfa block to peck at. The larger ones are getting quite good at targeting meal worms, like a pack of dogs at treat time.

What kind of breed is your very cute chick? TW

Welcome twendt.
Anyone need some snow? I seem to have a surplus

We're ok on snow, but I'll trade you about 30 mph of the current winds for 1-2 inches of show. Win-win?

Lovely coop! Very nice. Gorgeous girls. I picked up two silver laced wyandottes this year to add to my egg laying coop. They're so lovely.

The black chick is an Ayam Cemani. Can't wait to see this one grow. I think they are very stricking with their black skin, beaks, and combs.

Terrible accident today around 11:30 on 41 between Neenah and Oshkosh..... over 100 vehicles involved. So far only one fatality.

I think I will keep the wind; no more snow here please and thank you. You can keep the ice too.

I stopped in and visited KH today. She has a really nice set up! We were discussing where she should put her beehive up, my coop plans, and life in general.

Keedokes, you will need to fill us in on the Moses conference when you have a chance......

I'm new to the Backyard. I live in SE WI and I have 6 illegal chickens, so I can't disclose my location. My suburb is so stuck up. My neighbors are cool with it. I asked my neighbors if they would be ok if I got 3 chickens, somehow after 2yrs they multiplied....darn chicken math. This has been a very long winter for me and my girls.
Welcome! I'm in SE WI too, but in the city that allows chickens, lol. I have 4 bantams, all 27 weeks and no eggs yet. There are 3 other people with chickens in our neighborhood too, one being my daughter. She lives down the street from us (I'm a lucky Mom).

Edited because I read farther and saw your pictures! Nice coop and nice chickens! What's all the green stuff on the ground??? ;)
