It's been so long, I just took a guess of what their status was.
it's been about two years since I sent Zeke to Minnesota, He is happily watching a flock of sheep.

Chooks we’re throwing a fit a little bit ago; I went out and chased off a Cooper‘s Hawk......who was not exactly afraid of me. He finally decided to fly away. I will say that my Marans rooster is a rock star.... he had the ladies all contained and was sounding the alarm.
I am looking forward to the long weekend....... I plan on getting some much needed yard work done.
I think the rooster is entitled to a handful of cracked corn, good job..
the last year I had chickens we had a resident eagle who would sit in the oak tree about 200 feet from our house. He was never bothered about the daily goings on in the yard..

Cooper Hawks are the biggest threat that I have here to the flock. They are brazen and will keep trying for a kill. Birds that are in their molt seem smaller and seem to catch the coop's eye more than others. While they aren't large enough to fly off with their kill, they will consume their prey on the ground. They have killed many here, and have tried multiple times in the last few weeks without luck....I also have a good roo that helps alot....cloudy days are their favorite days for prey for whatever their reasons are. Keeping a close eye when the alarm sounds is also a deterrent to their good fortune.
Our first meat bird...... sooooo delish! I just about ate a whole half by myself! There is something satisfying about raising your own food..... right now I am happy we have another 30 on the way!
good morning,
my quest for rhubarb is over. we have acquired 28 divisions from a friend. we made 24 hills . doubled up on a few to make the rows come out even.
Dan stretched out over 200 feet of hose and watered them in real good.
I picked up the parts to fix the hydraulic pump on the tractor. $140.oo worth of parts and they don't even include the 4 nuts and bolts required..
