Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

got the corn patch all rototilled. the tiller worked great, me running behind, not so great.
but the saga of not getting the corn planted continues,. the planter's disc refused to rotate consistently. so i cleaned it and greased it, then it was too hot to stay outside any longer. I will give it another shot this morning. if the rain holds off.

Back up and running here. I was forced to upgrade my puter. The old one finally gave up trying to work.
Plenty of rain here in the past couple days. The heavy soil here is showing some puddles now.
The peeps are doing great and really growing fast.
Good to see all is well with everyone.

good cool wet morning. 56F/
yesterday I got up early and planted 12, 16ft rows of corn
I figure about 3oo seeds. that should be enough for us if they even grow, that is. Serendipity .
I will plant the rest of the garden in buckwheat.
I got finished planting about 15 minutes before the rain started, by late afternoon we had over 2" of rain,. more predicted for today.
it feels good to wake up and not worry about planting corn
my big project for today is to drill the holes in the water sprinkling can , larger. the fish emulsion that I mix up has small particles of fish in it. they plug the holes.

Good to hear you finally have the corn planted Jim.
It should germinate really fast with all the rain we are getting. We are about to get another big storm
in the next few minutes. I already have over 50 gallons of rain water stored. No need to save anymore right now.

Stay Safe ... bigz

Yeah we never did get corn in yet. Our meat birds will be ready for processing here in a few weeks, along with about 15 Dorking roosters. Yummy! Our farm party is July 19 (you're all invited, seriously! We're in Marshall, WI. Look Parkfield Farm up on FB for the address) where we will enjoy the Jackie meat birds on the rotisserie. I wanted the corn for that party too, but ope.

Bigz, our farm computer died the other day too, and we bought it just three years ago for $800. Killed me to have to order a new one. This time we just went as cheap as possible since it's mostly internet/cloud based work and doesn't have to do anything too hefty.

Our plant sale went off less productive than we'd hoped, but we're still getting things in the ground over here. I had plans to remove the herbs from the herb bed, weed/till, then replant the herbs in a different bed, but now we might scrap the whole thing after I go try to find the horseradish at least to rescue it. Nearly everything else we have starts for to replace it. Maybe I'll try to save some chives too. Yummm. The herb bed is 20' x 30' so I should get going soon.

The Scotch Cap/black Raspberries we transplanted last year into rows are doing well. I guess you're not supposed to cultivate them but we love them so much and can't get through the woods to the self cultivated ones so this was our solution. The mulberry trees are alive with nattering birds and rodents and the ground underneath is full of raccoon and groundhog poo. Our 20yo keeps talking about mulberry jam and I keep encouraging her to hurry up.

Hoping to work with some of the elderflower blossoms this year, too, and have to get to the hickory nuts soon. Have to decide right now if we're going to do nocino again too. Hmmmmm. I think I need to clone myself.
