Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I would keep an eye on him for sure. My DH was attacked by a banty roo when he was 2-3 yrs old. The bird went right for his eyes. He is now 36 and you can see every nail mark on his face; not pretty.

I think I would just keep letting him know who is boss; see if that helps.

When i have a roo that attacks they get 3 times, 1st they get carried around and stroked (wattles and comb) while feeding and watering, you hold them like a football head under your arm, 2nd time 3 days of solitary in a cage away from all other birds and a very uncomfortable place, 3rd time the stew pot. most roo's get the idea

As for the white stuff I can't even see acroo the road, dusting my foot

Hi everyone. I am new on BYC. I am going to start a laying flock this spring at my place in Door County near Bailey's Harbor. I have found BYC is a great place to learn about keeping chickens -- I think I have got most of the basics figured out, based on what I have read here.

I would like to pick up some adult laying birds of breeds appropriate for the area (e.g. cold hardy). I don't really want to wait 5 months for chicks to mature and start laying. If you are located in Door County, or between Milwaukee and Door County, and have any reasonably young layers you want to get rid of or if you know of someone who does, please get in touch with my by sending a private message here on BYC. I am willing to pay market (although also willing to provide a home for unwanted birds which are being given away, provided they are not too old).

Thanks.

GG

Gray Ghost! I don't have any girls for sale right now. But I want to make sure you get an invite to our FIRST Meet-n-Greet. It will be at Hartman Creek State Park, in Waupaca, WI. See the bottom of my post for more details and another link. Great to have you aboard.

I'm glad you found us, and I hope you can find all the help you need here!

Yep, I delt with a couple inches of the white stuff this morning. Nice and light though.

My medicine for unruly cockerals is to simply pick them up and carry them around for 10 minutes.
You can be gentle and still be in control. It gives them a dose of humility, and sometimes helps.

It's becoming spring breeding season now. It's the time of year that docile roo's will step their attitude up a notch or two.

Even the best boys, can have a attitude now. It's mother natures way of making sure they survive.

keep you arms up and your head down....

Gray Ghost. This is a great site to learn things. I've learned alot since I've joined. As of right now I don't have anyone for sale but will this summer.
Thanks for the input with the roo. I figured that I will have to cull him if he keeps it up but I'll try things before that. I watched him challenge one of the horses that got to close yesterday too. So maybe it's just horomones. He'll be a year in march. He's also the smallest roo I have. I just don't want to him to attack my youngest or anyone for that matter. I guess time will only tell.
Here are some pics of my youngest and the new baby goat. Yes she's in a swimsuit and yes the baby goat has a diaper on. They are so cute together. The baby goats for sale if anyone interested.

Too funny Becky! Your pic reminded me of my girls when they were small; both the swimsuit and the baby goats! I have a picture of my eldest in a turtle neck with a swimsiut and an umbrella and sunglasses. It is most adorable!

I sure wish my baby goats would come! I thought for sure by the middlw of February--I must have miscalculated (again) Well, they get here when they get her I guess! Off to bed for me...I have to go and check for eggs one more time first 'cause guess what???? YUP! I have not one but TWO broody hens! I am collecting eggs for nests for them and will put them in my laundry sorter turned brooding place for hens as soon as I get enough. I will probably set them tomorrow of Friday so they wont be too far off of the age of the ones that HEns and Roos is doing for me! I am so excited! Terrio

(PS) BCC--just let me know when I can get some buttons...I will have DH pick them up on the way back from Green Bay. He surprised me and said, "Yeah I go right by there." Hmmm--he is acting pretty nice all of a sudden....
Another (PS) Welcome Gray Ghost...funny my neighbor just called me and asked if I had any hens for sale for her brother...you wouldnt have a sister in Lake Mills now would ya?

The ducks are laying again! (And my one chicken, too.)

I did have a question for you guys, does anyone know someone selling rabbits? Not meat rabbits, I'm looking for a house bunny. With Easter coming I should be able to find one, but I'm impatient.

Thanks guys!
