Anybody coming to Jefferson tomorrow? It is listed as a pet swap on the fair board so maybe there will be lots of other stuff...I am heading over at 8--I hope I dont miss too much! I will have my burgundy BYC hoodie on if you want to see if you can find me. I will be advertising the site so we can have even MORE folks at our meet-up!

Did a ton of work outside today--it was so nice! Got the entryway to the coop cleaned and refreshed the inside too. Tonight i put my broody hens into their cages...I hope they go back on the eggs. One looked good but I dont know about the other one. Wish me luck!!! But I guess only time will tell!

I hope to see some of you tomorrow! Terri O

have to work this weekend but will have to check out the swap board as my pastor who is also a chicken guy... told me about 2 diff shows last yrt but i had to work 1 i think was in fond du lac ... the other not sure but would love to go to one.... have a feeling i would come home with more birds lol

Well-I will be putting the eggs in the bator tomorrow. I stopped by Babylady4's and she candled the eggs for me. Lookin' good! I was in awe at what we could see.

And thanks again Buck Creek Chickens. You are simply wonderful! If anyone is wanting any Bobwhite quail, let me know. They are going in the bator too. Free! But you gotta come and get them.

Jefferson was a bust IMO! The last one I went to there waas HUGE! I did see HensandRoos and family though. I also got to meet Tyler of Purely Poultry. Most of the birds didnt look that great either. I picked up a flyer for Beaver Dam and will go there in search of a pekin girl for my boy. SOme folks said that Beaver Dam was a better swap by far--I hope so...
So my two nests got moved last night into their separate cages and both were off their nests this morning and the eggs were cold! I was soooo disappointed! I broke all the eggs and the chickens had a feast. I legt the doors open to the cages in hopes that some hen will go in and become broody. I dont know what else to do. Maybe the hens werent as broody as I thought? If they got off they walked around with their tails fluffed and fanned and clucking like mad...if I moved them they jumped right back in and they had been sitting for 2 days already. ANy ideas why they refused when I moved them into private accommodations??

Jefferson was smaller than what we expected it to be, but it was fun for the kids to see what one was. Saw Terry O there and also met Tyler of Purely Poultry. My DH was happy that the only thing we left with was a book from Tyler's table! Our son's birds weren't available yet much to his disappointment, hopefully by March 21st at the swap in Beaver Dam:)

Went home and candled a couple of eggs under Blue-she has been sitting for 10 days now-looks like something is starting and also looked at a couple in the bator(5 days there) and those are showing veins, it is easier to do the ones in the house as we are able to make the room darker than what we can where Blue is. Mort(the rooster) was feeling left out so I had to grab him and hold him(not once but twice) much to his dismay!!

It's very interesting to watch the eggs develope, we try very hard to leave the incubator alone so not to drop the temp to much!!

The flyer we picked up said that it is Sunday March 21, 2010 from 6 am to 11 am at the Dodge County Fairgrounds, Highway 33 Beaver Dam WI. There will be Poultry, Pigeons, Rabbits, Cavies, Cage Birds, Equipment etc
