Good Morning...Doc that was a great post about turkey hunting. I couldn't agree more with everything. Our editor in the local paper has a new 835 with 2 barrels and a red dot for $450 or best offer. I might take a look at it next week. I think he is alittle high on the price? I don't really need it, but I could use it.....

My friend from Fon Du Lac comes up turkey hunting. I called his first bird for him. It was a blast. Only thing is the guy can't shut up.....good thing the birds had to come across the field, otherwise they would of heard him in his loud whisper

We both have tags for the first week. He prolly won't come up til Sat. Hopefully I'll have my tag filled by then. I'll have two tents set-up and will prolly call for him again.

Nice pics of all the birds.

My friend Jim is hatching eggs for a laotian woman. They are eggs from a strain of birds that they brought over from Laos. They brought the eggs over, hatched them and started a flock here. They are black chickens with black meat. It is a medicinal chicken to them. Quite interesting i think.
Eggs are worth $25 each.

with the meat chicks, it will depend on what you put them in, building or ?. I had 16 in a round calf hutch in mid may I had them in the house only long enough to make sure they where eating, the hutch was in the sun during the day and a door at night to keep the heat in plus I had a smaller box in side so they could go in at night to keep warm, does that help. if you put a heat lamp in you could put them in earlier

I deffenently will cedar post. I just candled what I could in my bator. 9 bad bobwhite quail eggs out of 24. But only 3 maybe no's on 26 lighter chicken eggs. And 7 are the Blue Marans that I can't see a thing. Not bad if I do say so my self.

Later tonight we should be going to Babylady4's house to candle those eggs. They are far enough along that we should be able to toss out the bad ones. At least the ones that we can see through.

He came in a group of chicks from sand hill, the barnyard special or warmer chicks, Plus i think one of his chicks is silkie too, so at least one of the hens has the silkie gene

fordmommy I'm soooo glad he was excited to see Peaches sorry it took so long for you to call and walk L through it.

Thanks for the call it was fun! Bigz that does sound a little high but with the red dot and with it being "new" it's not too far off. If you don't need it don't buy it. You can kill em with a rock if need be. Hunting with someone else can be a pain sometimes but there are advantages. You can blame a blown set up on them. Plus it's a terrible burden being perfect.

Had a great day!!! Long talk with fordmommy which was really neat and got to spend time with the kids, a whole lot of time it was great! Plus got the hydraulics replumbed for the blade on the tractor. Had to do some scratchin for fittings but got it up and running. Gonna knock the salt off the vehicles tomorrow in the driveway.

I will be putting them in a pvc tractor with a tarp covering 1 end and another covering the other side at night. I do have a light for some heat at night. you think they can go outside mid May at 2 weeks? The first 2 weeks there out on the sun porch. So smell isn't bad.

I'm near Appleton
