Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Looks like everyone had a eventfull weekend. What lovely weather we are having. 55 here yesterday and 52 today! I love it!

Cleaned out the coop. No more stinky deep litter. Fresh and clean now. Cleaned out stalls and the paddock yesterday too. One of the DD helped while the oldest cleaned out the tack room. Found out a stupid mouse has been living in there all winter. Chewed holes in saddle pads and leg wraps. I hate mice! Found the hole and fixed it. King Louie decided that he didn't like the oldest messing in the tack area and kept charging her. She ran out yelling for me. I grabbed him and put him under a old milk crate with a brick on top. Then made him sit there and watch her the rest of the day. I let him out a dusk. Not a very happy chicken. He didn't do anything to her just keep charging her. He leaves my younger daughter alone now. Hopefully he has learned his lesson otherwise he gets one more chance and he's out. Went riding with the oldest and DH and was laughing at them and their horses. So out of shape they all are! The horses had foamy butts and both of the riders were sore.

I told them maybe they shouldn't take the whole winter off. They have alot of work to get back in shape. Ok question: When can you start to candle? Or when will I see something? Well have a good one everyone!

Shhhh. I candled at 6 days and was able to see things. But don't tell Buck Creek Chickens....

Just kidding there. I know you are supposed to leave them alone, but it is soooooo hard. Day 10 is usaully the stanrd first day to candle. I did promise myself that I would leave them alone for a while.

To all that are going to the fondy swap, we should figure some place to meet there. being that its my first show you pros will have to let me know whats all there. Looking forward to it. My 7 year old is coming with and wants a chicken all to herself. I told her that we will look. I would really like some blue or splash cochins. Even some mollted would be great too. I'm only on day 6 so I'll wait till the weekend to candle.

if you want to meet at fondy, there is a snack bar, on the left side of the building same side as the doors, it would be a good place its the quietest place in the building

Good morning everyone! Man it is foggier today than yesterday! Fog is so weird with snow on the ground I dont ever remember having this much...first time I saw that "fog frost" this year too. I know I have been paying attention to the weather so why havent I noticed this before? ANybody?
One of my clients is coming back to his home after a month or so in a nursing home...he is so excited! I am going to clean his condo today so it is all ready for him. I am anxious to see him again.
THe banties are still hoarding their new eggs this morning. I am NOT going to attempt to move them again this time. I will wait until stuff starts hatching and then move them into their new pens. I will just have to be vigilant.
I had to get up earlier today to make "pot oatmeal" with raisins for my daughters. THey are giving blood at the HS today and they believe that the oatmeal is the good luck charm to pass the iron test! Dont know if it's true or not, but it seems to work. We will see if it works again.
It is so weird that it is only just after 8 and I am ready to go to work! Getting up early has it's merrits I guess. Full day today--one client and 2 houses. I have some people coming back from Florida tomorrow (I get to go to Milw and pick them up at the airport) It will be nice to see them again and hear their stories about the vacation. They are great people.

Have a fantastic day! Get some glads for your table...they are in the grocery stores now and look great as a sign of SPRING! to come! Terri O

I was watching the 10 o'clock news last night and they said that by the end of the week all the snow will be gone except the big "mountains" in the parking lots. Who's that for a spring dance for you?

Still foggy here too.

Haven't heard the oatmeal trick. I worked in a blood center lab almost 4 years and so often I had low iron. Either a daily supplement or eating lots of iron-rich foods a week before donating helped me. Did you know watermelon has lots of iron?? Way better than liver.

Very foggy here too. Last week there was a terrible 38-car pileup near Kaukauna, because it was foggy and sunny. Visibility in some spots was about 10 feet. Unbelievably, no one died or even was seriously hurt. Thank God.

Saw that in the news too. It was two accidents. One had 31 cars involved and the othe accident was just down the road about a mile or so had 7 cars. That was crazy! I saw some of the pics from there. The cars up-side-down and completely smashed. And not one person died. Thank God!
