It rained a little on the way home. Right now it's dry, so I put Peanut in his new outside cage. The dog igloo. He's calling to me. He doesn't want to be in there alone. I seriouslly need to find him a couple girls. He is really cute. He's getting in his head feather. That could help empress the ladies if I could find some his age. I could just cry on how loney he is. I am beginning to understand "quail". So far I can distinguish about 10 calls.

I got 15 babies. Now I just have to wait until Thirsday for the other 3 eggs. I quick candled them and they are swimming fine right now.

fordmommy sounds like your having a great day! Was KAQ the one with the extra asperagras? Don't know how you can have too much. CN5 I beeped and waved on our way up north. Didn't know your exact location so I beeped and waved at everyone. Most waved back. OK here's another one. The VP stopped by where I was working and said I hear we're losing you. I said yes and kind of waited for him to stick out his hand. He didn't, neither did I. I told him I was going to mess with my chickens. He says chickens are stupid! If they fall in the water they drown. I looked him right in the eye and said that's why they call them chickens and not ducks. That's the guy who runs the company. That's our brain trust. I got to thinking I wonder if I threw him in the water if he would drown, say in the middle of the Bering sea in Feb. So the afternoon was filled with laughter and the invention of a new animal. The dreaded and widely feared venomous web footed semi aquatic chicken. With big pointy teeth!

Taking L out for something to eat and arrange pizza for the guys on Friday.

Do you have any poultry?

Doc the door to freedom is closing in on you now! Man how the time has flown by, eh!

Tomorrow starts my turkey season. I hope the logger takes some time off. He was skidding by 8 this mornin. My friend in Illinois called this morning. He shot a tom with a 10" beard that weighed 24lbs.

Later.... ~ bigzio

Hey Bigz that's a big old Tom!

Even though we had a semi-cold night with an east wind blowing right into the barn, and lower temps for tonight, the birds are resting comfortably, it appears. I ask, but they are reticent to answer, I think they're shy. I made a little area for them in that big coop with some bales of straw and a heat lamp and it stays right in the mid 60s...so they've got a little fort to play in, and they are making the best of it, pooping over every square inch. They spend every moment of their time pecking every conceivable corner of the room, and plenty of room to explore. Now I've got to get about the business of making a chute from the chicken door to the run, which is about ten feet from the door. I got to put my thinking cap on, and it don't fit so well.

*waves* at BigBadCryBaby, fordmommy, bigzio, ChickenNewbie & Dr. HaHa. Thank you for the warm Cheesehead Welcome. BBCB, I'm also starting with my first band of flockers. Grew up with them as a kid and deliberately moved to the burbs in Ozaukee after college so I could eventually have some chickens again. Took me a few years but I'm starting with Golden Laced Polish and Silkies.

Fordmommy you are def. the welcome wagon around here... I can just picture you ushering in bands of chickens to your yard, "Come in, Come in put your feet up. You want I get you something to eat?" <<--- No idea why I gave you a Jewish grandmother accent in my image but alas you are always very welcoming to newbies on this thread.

I try. Well- not to be a grandmother yet. My oldest is just 10. But I can do a Jewish accent. Well-more Germanish I'd bet.

Just a reminder for babylady4 and Buck Creek Chickens.....Thursday....commedy club. Starts at 7:30pm. I'll sent you PMs to remind you. This is more to remind myself.

BBCB You definitely have the illness! Glad to hear it! Yes after I told them my stupidvisor ran up to the office and after about an hour came back to his office and was seen going through the contract. I think he was looking for a paragraph titled Indendtured Slavery. Guess what he didn't find one. I told L last weekend up north that this was going to be freak week thinking it would be me freaking. Not so turns out I'm having fun with it. That's not like me at all

There is no amount of slapping, beating, or reasoning with the 3 man management that will change the course that the company has been on. I feel bad for the guys stuck there hoping for their chance to do what I have been able to do. Meettheflockers your going to fit right in here. We all fill a niche. Those are purty chickens! Glad their still in your heart. Yes fordmommy is the best of people, she cares and that's what it's all about! P.S. Loved the jewish accent. Like I said you'll fit in here. You may have guessed I find humor in every aspect of life. I like to laugh! A lot! Bigz I wish you the best of luck in the AM but think your skill will shine. That does suck about the logging but you might be able to apply that to your stratigic advantage. Think man think! Now go to sleep.

Sorry it was just too easy! Good Luck!

welcome-byc.gif
to everyone who is new! Nice day today-finally finished cutting the grass and the girls were calling to me to put some in their run for them-they sure like it!

Seems like everyone was busy today, went on a field trip with my DD, she's 10, her 4th grade was invited to CALS kid's day at the UW Madison Stock Pavillion, very nice set up alot of interesting and fun activities set up for the kids to do hands on. Of course we were required to stay away from our chickens Sunday through this afternoon today and won't you know it, things go wrong.

Another one of her Andalusian's died-this time the small splash girl chick-went down on her hocks and her leg joints stiffened up and also one of our bantam babies did the same thing so her Dad ended up putting both down on Monday-our DD was very sad

We have added a vit/mineral supplement to the water and hope no one else ends going down

BBCB at this time we are holding off adding to our flock until we can figure out what is happening, so if that one is a rooster maybe Terry O will take him.

Dr H-I know that when my dad was getting ready to retire he starting knowing less and less each day he got closer to retiring.

Have a good night everyone

Sorry had to cut it short before dark.

Annarie: Glad you appreciated my humor and what I've had endour. H&R I know exactly where your dad was coming from. They don't listen so they must learn on their own. I tried to tell them, but NOOOO! So screw em! Hope things turn around for your flock that is a hard thing to deal with. Especially with the kids. Now I'm rethinking getting some new outsiders Sat. But if I do I'll quarantine them. Good night out! Pizza's are ordered. Sleep well! Not you Bigz

Sorry Again!
