Anyway-sun is shining, I'll be going out there soon. I've missed that sun. Gotta soak up some vit. D.

Buck Creek Chickens and I are going to Wisconsin Rapids Swap this Saturday. Anyone else going? We both are going to be selling a few things. I am selling a few babies so I can get those duck eggs.

It's funny though. I asked DH if he would rather me get the eggs or the birds. He said the birds. So I may come home with a couple of those too from the swap.

He just doesn't know what he is saying.....he's going to be in so much trouble.....

He is deffenently asking for it!

This is what I was doing.

The first pic is Peanut first born. Within an hour. And the others were taken today. The second one is my youngest sharing some of his pancake with Peanut. (don't worry. No syrup or anthing that could hurt hurt him. That's MY homemade "pana cakes".

) He sure is getting big. He's about 3 weeks old right now. And his favorite food is scrambled eggs.

BCC-This is that Mistery Chick. @ pics of this one. Yes. I came from yours. I thought it was a RIR, remember? But it's not. Any ideas? The other RIR didn't hatch. I cracked it open and it must of died about about day 17 or so.

Between last night and this morning, I got all the bantam ducks moved into their new summer "condos" (temporarily, until their new communal pen is finished), got the chickens moved into the old mallard pen until their new living quarters arrive (my aunt is "donating" a 12'x12' chain link dog kennel to my poultry addiction, which will serve as a run for the new chicken coop), and I finally got the 1-week-old ducklings moved out of my bedroom and into the big brooder in the garage.

Now it looks like I'm going to be stuck inside for the rest of the day though - I'm watching my grandfather's pets while he's out of town on business, and the 13-year-old diabetic cat hasn't eaten in three days (he's had a few bad spells lately, and there's not much else our vet can do - it looks like the kidneys are starting to fail), and looks like he's on his last leg, so I'm going to stay with him for the rest of the day.

Worked my tail off today on the house, hoping to get the flooring in by tomorrow so I can finally move things in that room the way I want them!

Going to the Wega swap #2 this weekend; it is going to be a long day with the swap in the AM and a music concert in Green Bay in the PM......

Fordmommy what kind of ducks are you looking for? I can check and see if they have what you want here if you like.....

I'm going to the one in Kellner on Sat. if that's the one your refering to fordmommy. I'll be there when it opens at 6 and look till Fleet opens in Point at 8, probably cut out of there around 7:30. If your not coming till later let me know I'll make a point of meeting you and BCC there. My god has that quail grown! Cute litlle scudder! Cute chicks too! Hope to find some SLW chicks, the younger the better. Too nice to be sitting here! Gotta go outside.

WOW--I miss a coupla days and you guys go CRAZY! Sitting on my porch typing and reading waiting for my girls to get home so I can go and get hay...where to start? I have 3 geese hatched (Toulouse), Made new digs for the chicks hatched by H&R so they can be comfortable for another month--we are trying a quarantine to see if 2 of her birds might be carriers of something unknown; horses were out on the road last night, got them in and they were out again this morning at 5! Found that the deer had run through the fence...any deer hunters out there???; found 2 duck nests and my Pekin that I got at the swap seems to like the Roen that I have and not the drake Pekin!!! (darn) Anyone have another Roen hen that they need to get rid of? I looked at the Yellow naped parrot and was proud of myself that I didnt buy her...now am getting some help with possible breeders here so I can get a baby...Maybe!
Welcome meettheflockers! I hope you are coming to Waupaca to see us all...I still am pretty excited to put faces to names! THere was a bunch more I wanted to say but...I have to plant my garden!!! Man, I think of you every day Dr H...I SSOOOO wish I was retiring!!!

Early Evening to all....what a wonderful and fun hunt I had this morning. I was setting decoys about 10 minutes before opening when a Tom gobbled prolly 300 yards away, then two more Toms gobbled about 100 yards away....enough to send the old chill down your spine.

Climbed in the tent and waited to call for a while. Just sparingly letting them know I'm here. Then after I heard them fly down everything was silent for 20 minutes. I waited for the hens to do the talking. After they started again, I gave them one short over here.....After a while the hens started coming to the decoys and home made fan I presented for the party.

One hen came from a different direction, and not with the group on roost....she was not pleased with my set up...and clucked a special almost buck.....then 15 minutes later 3 Toms and a hen at tow...pretty much raced to my decoy set up.

Results are a nice Tom with 10" beard, and a happy hunter! The good old bar that registered turkeys was sold, and they don't register there now. They always weighed the birds for you. I miss the good time there after the hunt.
I make a good eye opener though, and that's just fine enough.

I tryed to call you fordmommy about the door. It was around 10, you were prolly outside like the rest of us... anytime that works for you is fine.... I'll be around.

WAY COOL Bigz! I can feel the grin on your face! You dun good! It's a tough call to sit there after an I'm over here and leave it at that. It's always should I shut up or should I put out another I'm lonely call. I love it! It's a game of chess. I have to take a watch to see how long since my last location call, minutes seem like hours. Thanks for sharing it really made my day!
