Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Sunday Evening to Ya'all.... windy wet one here finally. We really needed the moisture, yep things will really pop open now. Hard to believe the week end is almost gone again.

I'm not a fan of road time either. I spent 30 years on the road, and that's enough for me. I'm a fan of brewskies though!

Doc, you could prolly get SLW in Hortonville, if you needed another option. I'm hoping my black javas are ready to pick up this week....I'm ready for some peeps.

Talked to Jim today. He has quite a few guinnea in the brooder.

Oh boy am I tired, and we still need to rip the bathroom apart!

The play set is now safely secured in another yard.... when we built it, I found the plans online and altered them to include a real roof over the fort area, after today I think I am going to regret that decision. I think that sucker weighed around 400#'s!!! And it was me, DH, DS (13), and DD(14) who got it off the fort. My BIL came over to give us a hand getting it into the truck, and thankfully my friend's DH was able to assist us getting it BACK onto the fort once everything else was assembled. It was so cute watching their 5 kids watch us from the LR putting it together. Once everything was secure we waved the go ahead to the kids and they all piled out to climb all over everything! They are all under the age of 10 so the play set will get a few more years of wear and tear on it. Make a person feel good to give away something that will be useful to another.....

Now all we need to do is tackle that bathroom but it should not take too long to rip out the shower and floor and the wall.......

I think I need an espresso...

GUINEAS? Did you say GUINEAS??? I think I need to meet this Jim...I need more of them! Right now I have 1 hen and 3 guys...not so good. I really want babies...they are so cute!

Do NOT do what I did today...our freezer got unplugged and I gave the chickens the risen bread dough that had thawed. You know "chicken in the bread pan pickin' out dough..." Well I should have had a head's up when one hen was caught by a foot....I went out to do chores tonight--thank God I rebooted the breaker so I had light--6 of my 3 week old chicks were stuck in that pan with the dough!!! I mean they were REALLY STUCK! So I just got done bathing and drying chicks! They are with the others that are 3x the size...I am leaving them in there for the night under the heat light...poor babies! TErri O

Thanks Cedar!
Sounds like ya'll had fun and busy weekends! Bigzio, It was wet here too. The chickens decided to leave their comfortable shelter, for rain frolicking and an eventual beer keg party in my nice clean garage. They knocked a bunch of tchotkes off the shelf and painted the floor with chicken...er... 'confetti' I found one of them sleeping in a tool box on the shelf and the others sleeping on the hood of the car.

Terri O. are you fostering the turtle or keeping him? Turtles and torts are cool cats except for the one snapping turtle I attempted to save out of the middle of the road a couple years back. Passing motorists witnessed a crazy-eyed, long haired brunette calling the snapper an "ungrateful wanker" as it lunged.
babylady- That is nice that the swingset gets to live on with a new family. I think hand-me-downs are often the most exciting gifts.
Dr. Haha crack open a cold one for me too. When my pops used to work at Miller back in the day... he'd get a free case each week and give it to my brother or I since he didn't drink. I miss those days.
Amy congrats on the sandhills!

PS. Thanks to BBCB, I have two new little blue silkie chicks. BBCB, you are awesome! Thank you so much!

Approaching midnight and we FINALLY have the shower OUT! After doing WWF with the dumb thing we realize (in out sleep deprived states) it is NOT going to fit through the doorway, so poor DH has to cut the thing in two. Which means a bigger mess, more tools and a shower.......

Thankfully we have 2 bathrooms and we already remodeled the one upstairs so he should have a nice rinse off. Unfortunately he has to get up for work at 5 AM so I better kick his butt to the shower.

Later all!

oh bl4 you sound like you are having way to much fun ...
we did that last summer with the toilet
still have things to finish but it takes time lol
mtf the silkies are way too cute

hope you all have great day .. anothe busy one here
will i every get the yard work and fence done ...uuggghhhhh

Bigz I know you've talked about the people in Hortonville before. Do you have a contact # or address? If memory serves it seems to me they didn't like to be bothered with phone calls. Bl4 I don't enyy you at all that's a lot of work! Someday I'll be in the same boat gonna tear out our bathroom only we don't have a second bath. And you know it never goes as smoothly as planned. Bet it was rewarding to see the kids cut loose on their new swing set. Dumped half an inch out of the rain gauge but think the wind sucked about that much again out of it. Think later this week will making laps with the mower. The rhubarb sure loved the rain. Heading Junction City to get feed for the kids this morning then who knows. Looks like a good week ahead. L's taking some fishing equipment in today. There's a 95 year old woman that wants to catch her first fish. Wish I could see that. Enjoy your day!

Between the last two days we've gotten over 2" of rain, which we desperately needed, so a cold, rainy weeken is gone and I woke at 4:30 to see the dawn of a cloudless sky. Very nice.

MTF glad to see you got hooked up, that girl has quite a chicken operation going on, eh?

Jerry Lee, my EE roo, has got a really bloody bum which I blu-coated and lathered with vicks ysterday afternoon. My GLW has really been going after him and that just gets the party started for all the others, so he had his butt to the wall and was trying to remain inconspicuous when I went into the coop yesterday afternoon. I had to isolate my GLW, she's pecking EVERY bird in the coop, just goes from one to another looking for trouble. I don't like troublemakers so I put her back in the brooder next to the cage full of younger ameraucaunas, hoping that a few days in solitary gets her head together. If not, I'm going to get some chicken blinders for her, and if that doesn't work...I'm going to consider cutting her beak back.

This is our 'investment' house so we can move to someplace with land. We have done just about every room in the lower level and belive me, I am really sick of living in a construction zone! The worst was when we demolished the kitchen dining room; I had a month and a half of no kitchen!

The end results are worth it though, I just hope we are able to recoup our costs. ANd Dr.H I hear you there; the guys who put our addition on were enjoying a little too much of the sauce while on the job. We have had to 'fix' so many of their shortcuts

, it makes me sick that people can get away with such shoddy construction.

I can't wait for the weather to get just a bit warmer so we can take all the kids fishing!!

Call duck eggs should be arriving on Wed.!!!!

BL4, I've done the construction thing more times than I count. Every place I've ever owned had some sort of construction project or renovation in progress, and it does get tiring after awhile. Especially when you're dealing with crappy contractors, and I've had my share of them.
