Wish me luck!!!!

Good Morning! Believe me I thought about having them in the house. It wouldn't be a problem for us but might be a little too tempting for Bob. He was introduced to the girls when they were little and knew they weren't for his amusement or lunch. He's a very smart boy and wouldn't be surprised if he could figure out a way to circumvent my Bob proofing efforts and let his instincts take over. Just don't want to take the chance. I checked on them at 10 last night and at 3:30 this morning and twice since then. They are doing very well! Their feeder has had a good dent put in it as well as the their water. Welcome back whippet128 hope you stay. Sounds like you have a pretty nice operation there. caledonachickens will do! Good Luck! Have a ton to do today after what I call screwin off for the last 2.

Yeah! Now if they only listen to the people Caledonia will have chickens in the backyards!!!

(like EVERYONE should!)

Just a quick hello this morning...I am off to Portage to check out (hopefully) my new parrot!!! I am so keyed

Glad it's not poring...I really dislike driving any distance in the rain--especially when I'm not familiar to where I am going! The Ancona I brought in yesterday is doing fine with the little ones. I think I will leave her in the house until they go out. Seeing as she is the only hen out of the 5 I picked; I want her to survive!
OK--off to visit with the critters then Portage, here I come!!! Terrri O

Afternoon All...sure is good to see some peeks of sun.

Doc glad to here the newbies are doing good. How many did you get? Straight run or pullets?

Glad you found us whippet128. I'll be leaving in a couple hours to pick up the buckeyes. The brooder is set up and running so it's toasty warm for the newbies on the hill. Moved a dog pen into the garage where I'm gonna put my broody mom later today.
I felt so bad last year when she sat on duds...hopefully she can raise some this time.

My new coop is suppose to be delivered next tuesday. Then I'll need to insulate and build nest boxes.

Talk later.... ~ bigzio

Bigz--sounds like you have your work cut out for you for the next couple of weeks! You ORDERED a coop? What kind?

To additional new people! Nice to have you! Just got back from Portage at 3 and got the cage set up....YES I got the Yellow Naped Parrots!!! I am very excited for them to settle in so I can befriend them. I will see how it goes because they are a breeding pair so I might have to separate them. My daughter's cat is very interested in them right now...wait till they get ahold of his paw! YEEOW!
Well--going to look for more treats...gonna be loud tomorrow morning I am betting! Terri O--surrounded by birds and lovin' it!

TO I know people that have had parrots and yes they can be loud at times, you have quite the managerie there. Bigz got 8 SLW pullets, their still doing great! They have really neat eyes. Looks like I'll get my chicken soup made tomorrow with all the rain again. Will make one batch with noodles and one with fluffy dumplings. Yummie! Stay warm and dry!

Hi everyone and
welcome-byc.gif
to all the new people!

It's been chilly all day and now it looks like it want to start raining outside

my DH and DD just headed out for dog training tonight-hopefully they can get everyone inside if it does rain.

Terry O glad to hear that you got your birds!

Bigzio and Dr H - you'll have to share picture of the new additions.

We're trying to figure out how to/where to set up some temperary pens so that most of the birds hanging out in the garage can go outside soon.

Our 4 youngest chicks are doing great and we hopefully will candle the eggs in the incubator tonight-we are at day 10.

Well off to do chores for the night

stay warm and dry everyone!

Dr. H I have 5 SLW 8 week olds and they are really nice birds...and pretty cool looking. I'll be happy if they're big egg producers.

Boy it was really cold in the coop today, cold and raw. I put out a heat lamp again just to give them a break. After I put it on, I turned my back to change their water and feed and dang near everyone of them were huddled under the lamp. This Wisconsin weather...aargh.

Anyone want a really nice Australorp roo? I've decided to see if I can keep Jerry Lee around but Elvis has to go. Let me know, I'll meet someone halfway if they want to rehome him for free, of course.

to all the new Wisconsin BYCers. Great to have you here, I hope you find it as informative and friendly as I have!

well, I might go missing for a bit, mom just went in for a transfusion, she was to go in tommorrow, but the hospital call tonight and told her to get in now. the worst part is she will not let anyone know what's going on including my dad.
