Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Ha! Slept all the way till 5. Slept good too but still not feeling the best so it's been small tasks today. BL4 don't be wishin for that kind of thing, you'll get there soon enough. Then it doesn't go away and you just learn to live with it. OW! After the coffee wore off I feel like taking a nap think maybe I over did it in the woods yesterday. Dentist @ 2 maybe I'll take a nap in the chair.

I sure hope you are feeling better DrH! You didnt get heatstroke did you? You retired guys have to watch it ya know...

Pomeranians Huh? I thought those had the little top hat things like polish chickens...shows how much I know about geese! My toulouse are pretty good too...there was only one that ever attacked and he always went for my DH--I think the goose thought he was competition
gig.gif
That goose used to crawl up in my lap when I sat down to weed or something! THere arent any tame ones any more; but they do listen when I yell to them. They most frequently hear, "GET OFF THE ROAD!"
So I am done with outside work for the day--Friday is my favorite guy so it is even fun! I thought I was going to help my neighbor unload hay but he had enough guys so I am off the hook on that--guess I will get changed and goout and visit with the chickens a bit...
I have a something I have been wondering about though; many on here have said that their roos watch over the hens. Do you think it only happens that way when there is a single roo? I dont seem to notice any protective behavior in mine at all! The only thing they seem to do here is when one jumps on a hen they all stand in line for their turn!

Makes me feel really sorry for the hens! ANy ideas on this?
Have a great and productive day! TErri O

Dr.H hope u feel better. that little voice in my head tells me to tell u that u should call ur DR. and when that little voice in my head talks I listen. learned that lesson the hard way. My gut said to slow down while driving one time and I figured why I was doing no more than 60..... then BOOM there was a deer! somehow I did avoid it, but to this day I listen to that little voice. had my angel working over time.

cute pics of all those critters. no geese for me. My Dfather keeps tell me though that we should get a cow.....a pig.....and then u got my cousin who wants us to get a horse.... but she'll take care of it..... like as if right?!
anyways have a good day! talk tomorrow, oh and BL4 good work on the tile. that is NOT a fun job I know!

TO, ur geese go on the road? I'm gonna use that for an excuse as to y we can't have geese. I live on a road thats speed limit is 55 (more like 70). and I wouldn't be able to yell get of the road. It would be SPLAT! oh darn
big_smile.png

one more thought, I thought a Pomeranian was a dog not a goose?!

good Day!

Yes, the heat does induce napping, doesn't it? Started getting swollen ankles this week, so should be cutting back on chores even more

I can just imagine what this place is going to look like in August, probably a weed jungle. Been cutting lots of lettuce, and the peas are gettin' going now, yum. Been giving big clumps of kale to the chicks, they seem to like it.

This week I left the coop door open, and are those babies thrilled to be free out in the yard. It's a whole new world! I just love seeing my flock ranging out around the lawn, looking for little morsels. The chicken TV in a lawn chair can't be beat. Every day they get courage to go a little further; pretty soon they'll be up on the porch I bet.

Becky, I'd have done the same thing. No use giving chickens to someone who won't listen to reason, or admit they don't know everything. Better to wait for a good buyer. Good luck

Love seeing all the duckie pics everyone! Next year for sure

pongoid, is the Stamm a restaurant? I lived around there for a short time, but haven't heard of that place.

BL4, way to go on the tile AND getting a road hazzard removed

Good morning! Off to the Elroy Fair today...and then to get our paperwork in for the Juneau County Fair later tonight...

Gorgeous Pomeranians, BCC! Someday, when I'm though with college and get all my birds off my mom's property, I'm getting Steinbacher Geese - I don't care if I have to import them from Europe (I only know of ONE breeder of them in the US), I really want some Steinbachers - they're supposed to be some of the friendliest geese there are.

I have a picture of some of the foster kittens - right now, I have 5 of them this age, just a few more weeks until they go back to the shelter:

And three new Runner ducklings I took out of the 'bator yesterday:

The Calls from AlpineRanch are starting to get feathers on their little chests now! I'll have to take some pictures of them this weekend when I get a minute - I'm going to set them up a little run in the backyard so they can start spending the days outside, even when I'm not there to supervise. I'll have to get a picture of my "Apricot Dusky" (AKA "Porcelain") Indian Runner that's starting to get feathers too!

Well- yesterday we had ANOTHER poweroutage.
barnie.gif
I was in my bathroom, doing my hair when I heard a "ZZZZZZZZZZZT!" and the power went out. It was loud and close. There is a transformer not a 100 feet from my window I was near. I was the first to call it in, but the whole neighborhood was out. Well- come to find out, my nemesis...the squirrel blew up! The TOTALLY bad part.......our 2 year old 37" VISIO TV is also blown up.
hit.gif
The 2year extended warrenty was up 5/10/10.
th.gif
Why! WHY! WHY!!!!! The good news it sounds like our local appliance store MAY be able to fix it. The first place DH called said that since VISIO is a name brand of Walmart...Walmart would be the only one to fix it because they are exclusive to Walmart and only they can get the parts. AND is has to be sent to the East Coast for repairs.
barnie.gif
But the guy here said that he CAN get the parts. But is it worth it???? He's going to see. But another semi-good part is that the insurance company WILL cover it, but has a $500.00 deductable.
hmm.png
But the TV cost over $800.00 on sale. So we shall see. For the repair guy to even look at it will be $42.00 and he will not be able to even look at it until next week. Not that I mind much. We ALL could use less TV. It seems like it's on ALL DAY LONG! And we DO have 5 other TVs.

This I think is a blessing in disguise. More family time together. I wouldn't even let the kids watch TV in a different room last night. We read books together, which we hadn't done in a while.

So my nemesis wins again.
th.gif
Even though that @%#* died, it could be $500 to fix.

Don't get me wrong, squirrels are cute....in other people's yards.....

P.S. Annarie, cute kittens. I would have some if I wasn't SOOOOOO alergic. I LOVE cats. But I have nearly life threatening reactions now. As the years have gone on, my alergies have gotten worse. I had cats all my life up until 6 years ago or so. Now I need an inhaller and medications to be near them.

Hey fordmommy tell us how you really feel about that squirrel!!
big_smile.png

Looks to be nice again today-finished our unit yesterday and will be staying home to get caught up on paperwork and house work this afternoon.

Will also be explaining to the kids that it's time to say good bye to Hobbes(grumpy old border collie mix) and that he will be going to the vet's office this afternoon- DH will be taking him, he figure it will be easier on the rest of us. Will probably let the kids pick out his final resting spot.

Have a good one!

to you H&R...that is so hard to do! I was in that boat in the fall and it is so hard but unfortunately a very necessary part of having pets. Kudos to you and your family for having the courage to do the right thing!

Now I am getting OFF this darn computer! Terri O

I'm alright just feel real tired. Went down the heat stroke road a good number of years ago as we talked about before now doesn't take nearly as much to get the effects. I did work an hour longer yesterday to get it done and it wasn't that bad out. Also always drink alot of water while makin wood. Didn't do much today but did get my new flour pail scrubbed up. Going to stop on the way to the dentist to get the big bagoflour. Might make the cin/raisin bread tonight. Or in the morning. L is heading south for the weekend to see her fam. I should go too. But things to do. I keep saying next time. Better get moving. raimnel the lil voice in my head says you can't drink any beer until you feel better. So I'm recoopin as fast as I can!
