Well DrH...even with your (many) blunders we finally got to see your chickens!

I sure wish they were enlargeable pics though. The one on the bottom sure looks like a hen to me and I would lean toward a roo for the top one....but it is usually best to wait and see!

Raimnel--I hear ya on only roos dying! The only thing I can think of is that A- the other roo killed him or B- he had a heart attack from being chased around to be caught and then died of thankfulness that he wasnt

(if that is what you did) I think it is most likely C though- Good Old Murphy's Law! I wish whoever invented that law would not have!

FM--yup, that Frizzle is sure adorable! Looks like you put her in the blender! I could just see chickens like that around here...NOT! Bet those crazy feathers hold mud real good!

BBCB! We have missed you! I hope you are not as crabby as my son who also works 3rd shift...that is really hard on a body! You didnt say how all your stuff is doing...I hope well--fill us in when you can!

This morning I have 4 new chicks and 11 (out of 12) new ducklings! YES--Frankie the choc muskovy hatched her nest finally! I was beginning to doubt the eggs...but as soon as you do that--here they are! 8 bi-color and 3 yellow...I hope the bi-colors turn out as pretty as her first batch. I have to take a couple of picks of a few of the chicks...I have no idea WHAT they are! There is some really neat striping on one's breast...if I can find it today I will try to get a shot.

Was going to go and do that garden today...way too hot already! I let everyone out, shoveled a few shovels of dusty stuff and looked for Stuart and Monty and I am so sweaty! I guess I will put it off for another day...

Hello!

Just thought I'd introduce myself! Terri O sent me over to join the group...........I am located in Webster, WI-about 60 miles south of Superior. My pullets are one month old today! Haven't had chickens in probably 24 years or so, but decided to get some so that I will have fresh eggs available without having to depend on someone elses production. Besides, I am having such fun raising these girls and watching their crazy antics! I will get pictures uploaded asap-my avatar is one of my Anconas-her name is Lita (Ford) (all of my chicks will have rocker chick names) because she's the only chick that looks at me like that (like she'd like to peck my eyes out), and she's always causing trouble. I have a feeling that she is going to end up being the dominant hen in my flock-she's always the first one on the very top roost as well. Anyway, I must get off of the computer and actually get some work done around here. Nice to meet you fellow Cheeseheads!

I need to apologize once again for my stupidity once again for all the failed pics think I'm gonna get it right soon. fm is guiding me once again through my ineptitude. Thanks fm! TO yes the bottom one is a hen and fm is going to post a pic of the suspious one. I looked at it this morning again and still think it's a roo. Too many longer feathers and not the sculptured hinder of the hens and the different pattern of the white. But I'm usually wrong. It would be cool if it was a roo. More SLW's. OH OH back to needing more buildings.

I can't help to laugh..... the almighty moderator spoke something about all those ones that are reading but not saying anything and waalaa we get what 5+ newbies! just had to laugh.

a frizzle but it would have to be a hen to many roos as it is. Manawa is down the road! she got one thats not orange, not to crazy about orange sorry. are they pure frizzle?? if thats possible!
we got the outside walls and roof on the duck coop now, now I get to paint. DH is going to insulate too. I was thinking.... we have linolium laying around whatcha think about laying it on the floor and up the walls 6-8 inches and caulking the seams. just thinking about those messy pigs, I mean ducks.
I got crapy sleep last night, the skeeters are HORIBLE here, we look like pin cushions. I had to turn my fan on HIGH just to keep them off of me and I had some kids in my bed too cause of them.
well gotta run to the bank, electric comp. wants their money.
