Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Well, came home from the fair early - I just can't stand crowds! My sister's group gave 3 performances, and they did great - but, we won't know if they placed at all until the fair's over.

Yay, Dr H!

I can't wait for pictures!

First thing I did today was check on those duck eggs (had to lure momma away from the nest with some treats so I could sneak a peek), and I see three (maybe 4) pipped into the air cell and I can hear them peeping! I checked the rest and they're all at CRAZY different stages of development (some need another 2 weeks or so yet), so I'll be moving a whole bunch into the 'bator in the next few days. I could take the ones that are hatching right now and put them in the 'bator, but after all her hard work, I want poor momma duck to hatch some babies and have a rest - it's going to be much too hot and humid this coming week for her to be cooped up in the pen all day.

Anyways, I'm recovering from a 3-hour-long shopping spree at the mall with my 18-year-old sister. She works at one of the stores and had a whole bunch of sale items stashed away in the back room for me (shhhhh!)

Peatwo is nearly dry and fluffy. Really fighting the urge to take him out! L keeps callin him her. So I correct her EVERY time.
lol.png
At 1:30 HE broke away from the shell. Really want to give HIM some water and then put a towel underneath and kick back in the chair. L said do you think we should put HER in a small box for now. I pointed at the corner of the kitchen table where a small box was all set to go.
lol.png
L was talking about keeping HIM in the house and then HE started cheeping and SHE changed HER mind. Still gonna do so! 3 award winning apple pies [I'm the judge] and half a big crock pot of noodles ready to go for tomorrow. Tired, I'm just tired. PEEP PEEP PEEP!!!!!!

Afternoon to All...Congrats Doc on your successful hatch of the newbies born with a home! Prolly need to start thinkin about buildin more coops. One never has enough empty space....

Suzie hollered and said I need to start the grill....ok gotter done...venzun on the grill tonight.
I always throw some apple wood on before the grate...I like the taste.

Picked 12 tomatoes today....with almost 40 plants it's a start....heirloom like early girl, better boy, beefsteak, brandywine, amish paste, homestead, and german head pink make up most of the plants. I think we willbe making salza here this week. We use the real chili peppers in the coffee grinder for the red pepper needed. Fresh green peppers too! Yummy with everything...in my opinion.

countrylisa!!!

Ugh, been sick all day with a fever and a sore throat. I HATE being sick in the summertime!!!!

Congrats Dr. H; I love the excitement of hatching eggs!

Annarie congrats on the baby ducks, and fingers crossed for your sis! I remember going to state for a 4-H drama production, and hated the waiting to see how we did!

Ok, back to bed for me. Thunderstorm at the back door......

Good Morning People! BL4 hope your fever broke over night! That is miserable being sick in the summer. Peatwo is doing very well. Haven't seen him eat yet but is drinking water. Oneniner's shell has a hole in it this morning. The reason it's named that is it's shell has 19 written on it. Haven't seen Alvin's egg move in the last 24 hours and that has me worried. Will sit down and post some chick pics next week. Pretty good boomers moved through early this morning. Didn't have the rain gauge out. Looks like the rain will be out of the way for fam reunion but it's going to be hot and humid. Wish they'd move it to spring or fall. Things are going to start moving at a slower pace for me from now on. Gonna take some play time. Annarie Hope your hatching goes well and you get the ducks your looking for. Bigzio Was surprised how much easier it is to clean the coop with less chickens but a person always needs more chickens. I'm jealous of all your maters but know you worked hard for em. Have 10 qts of dills, 7 qts of sweet, 4 qts of dilly beans 2 qts of banana peppers sitting on the pantry shelf plus all the stuff in the freezer. That'll be enough to get through till next year. Can hear oneniner pippin in the shell

Have a good day and hope those feeling under the weather are feel better this morning!

Congrats Dr Ha! I'm so very excited for you!
Well here is a couple of pics of the quail. Yes I know that there is food everywhere, they are messy boogers. I have to start holding them more, now that they are settled in. They run like crazy when I cleaned the cage yesterday. Ok here you go. Enjoy the rainy morning!

Good morning everyone! I think one of the pines in the woods got struck last night. Kinda scary. But all is well now. Sun is shining and it's gonna be a hot one today. 90's.

Gonna go pick up our new...."used".....camper today.

But then I'll have to clean it.

I get very particular on the first time I clean it. Things seem to get "sanitzed" and everything. Right down to steam cleaning the carpet. I know I'm wierd. I just don't want to live in someone elses skin cells.

They are bigger than what I thought you would be getting them. I thought that they would be younger. How old are they?

Enjoy this summer day everyone!

Annarie) I hear you!! I haaate how people are retarded at the fair! ARGH. I couldn't believe the prices on food this year either, I paid 10 bucks for a gyro and a small soda! 4 bucks for a chocolate banana, 6 bucks a beer, 3.50 for a creme puff. SHEESH. Me and DH mainly go to state fair to eat, so, we tend to spend a bit of money lol. I looked around for you, but not in a dedicated way. I looked at all the people in the poultry barn, and in other barns. I didn't see you, but in honestly had I, I probably wouldn't have said anything. I'm weird like that, I don't generally start convos with others that I don't really know lol.

I showed DH my ducks (The Cayugas) and they had some fat gorgeous ones!! There was also another duck that I thought was cute, buuut the tag didn't tell me what they were. Grr. We saw the baby Cayugas first, and Ed was like "Thats as big as they get?" and I was like "No, I swear they said the males top out around 8ish pounds.!" Then we saw the bigger ones.

We also went into the sheep barn (my other weekness) and saw some ADORABLE sheep! I love the ones that have black faces and almost a greyish-white body. Ed was like "I want that one, can we ask someone to buy it?!" I was like "I don't think thats how it works lol"

DrH) CONGRATS! I hope all the others make it out of the eggs too! Pictures are a must! And, of course hes and he!

BL4) Hope you feel better, hope it's not what I had, cause that sucked!

CountryLisa) I live in Waukesha CO, about 1/2-1 hour away from Racine/Kenosha area!

Slowly getting there. Just a fever and sore throat, nothing serious. What sucks is this is right during pickle season!!!!!

Just thought I would pop on quick. FM, have fun cleaning your camper. You stated the #1 reason why I do not purchase used mattresses!!!!
