Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Fordmommy- I think they are about 2 weeks old. They are about the size of a finch right now. I'll take some pics with something in there for height comparision. Good luck with the camper. Skin cells-don't get me started.

Afternoon to Everyone...good luck with your hunt Cedar Post...I have 8 pts and no harvest this year. With three under the belt, I might consider this next one the last?

Sure is a fun exiting time for sure. Ahhh, nothing like climbing down after dark and knowing the bears are there somewhere.....hair stands on your back, and makes it so exciting! I hunt with a bow and no sidearm...seems thrilling somehow. Nothing better than a bear roast in the oven...I can smell it's awesome I know what's in the oven smell...priceless.

We were pounded again with the rain. Nice not to water anything though.

Think me & suzie are gonna make pickle relish this week too. Down to the last pint. Gave away the last two pickins....prolly use the next one...just love the chicago pickling variety from sand hill of course.

Just wonderful to hear all the crowing again here on the hill. Just makes country living more complete here. Still miss the clumbsy old bigzio though.....

Yeah, and $15 for flimsy felt cowboy hats that, of course, my youngest sister (she's 7) just HAD to have - a pink one with sequins and a little tiara on the front.

All I did at the fair was watch my sister (the 11-year-old was the one performing), peek at the poultry (I took some pictures I wanted to share with you guys if I can find the camera and remember to upload them), and then hide in the hotel room with the laptop. So I wasn't out and about much at all! I'm kind of anti-social.

I was half-expecting a duckling this morning when I fed ducks, but no fuzzy ones yet. I could see at least one egg pipped though when I glanced at the nest (okay, okay, I was bent over STARING at the nest

), so maybe tomorrow!

Wish I had time to take a nap today! Darn thunder woke me up in the middle of the night!

WOW! Just spent a wonderful hour catching up on all that is new with you folks! I think I had 6 pages or so to read...and i did read EVERY word! I had no time to get on my 'puter in the last days...so busy! So now that it will thinderstorm tonight, tomorrow and Tuesday we dont have to pick up more hay! YEAH--I can catch up with all my friends! Got the tomatoes, beans and peppers picked right when I got home from the class reunion and the beans are already snapped and ready for dinner and canning! Not sure what I will do with the tomatoes yet. I canned 7 quarts cut up the other day and 6 quarts of tomato veggie soup...prob will do quarters again...cant seem to ever get enough for the whole year and end up buying. The beans got over ripe wile I was gone so I am going to try canning them and see if it works to make them any better...will prob just use them for soup anyway. Raiquee...excellent about the ducks! I can sure help you out of you want pied 'skovies...got them coming out of my ears! Frankie's got 11 that are a week or so and then there are her 4 that are ready to lay...come out this week! Bring your little guy and he can chase dogs and cats! (really, I would LOVE to meet you and I am so low on work so I am home...maybe we can unload hay

) And then you can whisper to my eggplants 'cause they arent doing ANYTHING!!!

DrH I am so excited about your new little ones! I hope you get Peatwo, three, four and five! Great that you can trade veggies with your neighbor! I am doing that too since my tomatoes are ready and her cukes are ready. I replanted mine and they are growing so fast! Just starting to flower though...I dont think you will have enough time H&R to start now...but really, even if you only get a few, the chickens will like to eat the plants and any that dont get ripe enough. It looks to me that I might have a Mother-load though so if you want to stop by I can let you know when they are ready and I am sick of dealing with them!

I cant go back far enough to see who it was that wanted to buy chicks in the Madison area...I HAVE CHICKS!!! I have way too many chicks! Send me a message...I am 25 minutes East of Madison--let's talk!

I grew up in West Allis (where the fair is) and we practically LIVED there as kids--that and the Zoo. We rode our bikes there every day and sometimes had the $$ to get in. Sometimes we just wandered around the outside and people would give us tickets--the zoo was free for Milw residents so we were on first name basis with many of the keepers...it was lots of fun. I sure know what you mean about it being expensive...I get faired out from our county fair and dont care to go to any others...almost all the people that were in for the reunion last night were going today though. It was really hard to get a hotel room for the night! Sure wish the committee would plan that better!

OK--DH says the meat is on the grill...gotta go and find something to make along with it. Let's see...beans, tomatoes...maybe I will go and see if I can grab some new potatoes.....mmmm--with herb butter! My mouth is watering! Have a great night all--talk to ya tomorrow! Terri O

yep TO took me for ever to catch up on everything here! DrH I cant WAIT to see those babies!

I jumped on BYC to ask a question this afternoon. got my answer and jumped off. I sold 3 hens today to someone near here for layers. Lord knows I got enough chickens. I didn't know how much to sell them for so I asked on BYC in some other thread, and got answers in record time! I love this place!

went swimming after... couldnt stand the heat. I had to take a nap today, same story as others. had a horrible sleep last night. the storm mainly and I had to put my DD (2) back in her bed like 3 times. It amazes me how a 2 year old can take up a whole king size bed?! had my DS (7) birthday party yesterday! we fun, had it at the local park.... my house was/is a mess and we were busy thislast week. to busy for cleaning. now we get to clean this week. I would like 1 thing for my birthday this year..... for someone else to clean my house. not really cause I would like to know where everything is. my bday is the 16th. the big whopping 32! I feel like i'm getting old! I know I know! well its bed time night ALL

There are still more hatching in the incubator. They weren't supposed to hatch until tomorrow, so I'm thinking it will be closer to 30

Newbie to this thread!

I'm not sure how this thread works, but I am excited to have found a Wisconsin one - so cool! I'm located near La Crosse. Anyway, my main reason for postnig here is I'm wondering if anyone knows of a nearby place where I could get some very young, or just hatched chicks (bantams, or LF Ameraucana)? I just hatched one (out of 14!) lonely chick, and am in dire need to find more.

Near the La Crosse area or more south would be perfect. I'm really hoping to find he/she a couple of friends fast! I'd apprecaite any thoughts at all. Thank you in advance!

Good Sticky Morning All!

Dang it Bigzio now I have to make relish too. Hadn't thought of that but I eat a lot of it during the year. Gonna have to look up a sweet recipe. Like it on hot dogs, brats and balogna sammies. CP good luck with your bear hunt! Never done it but think it would be cool. Cool pics Becky! Hope they work out for you! BL4 glad to hear your coming around and there is no way no how I'd even consider a used mattress. I'd sleep on gravel first. The sharp pointy kind! Raiquee how else are you going to get to know someone if you don't talk to them?

And thanks for backing me on the he-he thing. It's just for fun. The renunion was fun yesterday. DD and her Bo came with us. Took the noodles and 2 apple pies. Didn't make enpough noodles they were gone in minutes. Even had to give someone the recipe Sheesh pretty simple to make. My pies set a new record again $20 for one and $25 for the second. That added to the reunion bank account. So next year a quadruple batch of noodles and 4 pies. DD and Bo stayed for quite awhile after we got home and watched bator TV. He likes spicy food so we had to sample the fridge pickles and sample and sample and sample. Gave himthe recipe along with one for hot pickled eggs, Warned the DD to stay away from him for 24 hours after ingestion. It's really bothering me that oneniner hasn't got it's legs free yet. Might have to do another intervention. He's trying really really hard and chirping like he's in distress. Was thinking this morning that the slw's should start laying within the next month. Better finish my dishes and keep an eye one niner. Plan on building an outboard stand today too. And if it ever drys out mow the lawn AGAIN! Have a good one!

Forgot to mention that I called the BFF and they brought their 5 year old over to see the Peatwo and watch the chick in the bator. She thought it was really cool! Today is day 22 and have pretty much given up hope on the third egg but will leave it for another day or two.
