Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I would help a LITTLE DrH...just to get his beak out in the air. If you see any blood at all STOP! AlSo I have found if you wrap the egg in a wettish paper towel for a bit it gets the membranes softer and they have an easier time of it. Good luck

(and thanks for missin' me!

) How in the world do you remember all you have to reply about? Maybe I have to set my thingy to have more per page so I can look back...I think if you use the back button you lose everything right? Duh--maybe just open another tab?

Kinda glad it rained last night....the back pasture can grow up and I can get the horses out there again. Calling the fence guy today to come out and get started---got my annuity check!!!
ya.gif
The hill neighbors are moving and the "crabby" neighbor passed away last week...I can get my land back!
I am a bit worried...dd18 came downstairs this AM and said that there were two assaults on the Madison campus yesterday! GREAT--now I will have even MORE to fret about! I am hoping that the assaulted were doing something not good or were in a bad area...

You would think by the time they are off to college one might have a bit of a respite from worrying!
Well, it's 9--guess I better get to work...have a great day--spray down if you are going out--it is NASTY out there! Terri O

TO I don't remember, no way no how. Depending on the length I get close to 20 posts under the reply box. Don't use the Explorer back button you lose your started post. Use the "go back" next to the submit and preview under the post box think that works. His beak has been out for 24 hours I just did a little more cracking on the shell but don't want to pull any of the shell away in case it's still attached figure it will fall away when it's dry enough. Good tip on the moist paper towel. Thanks! The shell has now gotten a little flatter and think it's all up to him now. I even put Peatwo in there for a minute to give him inspiration and a little companionship for both. Have all kinds of plans but don't feel like doing any of it. Seems the colonel is now on the list of nasty fast foods. Didn't sleep well with a gut ache. Boy Peatwo is getting to be a fast lil booger already!

And as long as your alive you'll never stop worrying about the kids. Glad to hear your getting your new fence think that will help with some of your headaches.

No ducklings under my broody duck this morning - I can hear LOTS of peeping though, and I see one zipping - I guarantee that one will be out by the time I give all the ducks their evening feeding tonight. Took a flashlight and quickly candled what I could without actually touching the eggs this morning, and there are 5 babies internally pipped now, and it looks like there could be 2 or 3 more that are only a couple days behind.

Well, busy day today - need to go grocery shopping, stop by the animal shelter to see how those foster kittens are recovering (and see if the new batch is ready for us!), and figure out who I can get to proctor all my exams for school this semester - UW Colleges Online is great, Terri - I get to sit in my PJ's all day and check on the ducks and chickens whenever I need to. No worries about fights or meningitis, or getting distracted by partying.

They only offer a 2-year degree online though, so I'm transferring over to Oregon State's online program in a year or so here (originally, I was going to start out there, but I didn't meet their requirements in mathematics

). We'll see how long it takes me - I just took an entire year off, and I'm taking the minimum number of credits to be considered full-time.

I'm wishing Oneniner the best of luck, Dr H!

Thanks Annarie! Couldn't stand it anymore and went in and got a lot of the shell off by the feet. Shell came off easily and the membrane stayed put in the spots needed. Oneniner is now kicking the shell away. Have a damp paper towel underneath. Too risky around the head yet. Think he'll be OTAY! Sounds like duckies on the way!

Sorry to clog things up but need to vent and yell for help. Thanks to all of you for your help! It's good to have you there!

Need to look for the sweet relish recipe and now a horse radish for the BFF. The phone wrang a little while ago and it was Emily the 5 yr old wanting to know how the chick was doing. We had a rather lengthy convo and I told her that I would call her as soon as it was free of the shell. She said well you better! BFF was in the background just howling the whole time. Gotta love em!

Sorry but just have to. I just went in and cut the semi clear membrane that was holding it's head trapped in place so now the legs and head are free except for the shell sticking in places. He isn't peeping so loudly now really think it was in distress. Thanks Raimnel for the cheerleading! Now just hoping for survival it's been 30 hours in that prison. Just hope I'm doing the right thing. Father hen worries a lot you know! Got the horseradish and sweet relish recipe's but doesn't look good for real work. Can't leave the bator right now.

Oh I have my fingers crossed for you DrH.

I hope all goes well. Annarie- I am doing Herzing online and I love it. I can sit in my PJ's and do my homework, even work ahead if I want to. It's great and I'm almost done. hd-darcy-I have two cochin chicks that are about a month or so old right now, but I'm not close to you. You can have them if you want. One boy, one girl both blk. Terri-Don't worry I'm sure she will be fine. Remind her to travel in groups. Well the quails are great. Funny little creatures they are. The instinct in them is so strong, they duck everytime I walk into the laundry room were they are. I'll have to continue to hold them and make them see that I'm not a threat. Here is some pics to see the size they are. That's a AA battery. Have a wonderful day everyone!

List Your Birds in the SPPA Breeders Directory!

The Society for Preservation for Poultry Antiquities is compiling the 2011 edition of its
acclaimed Breeders Directory. Join now and list your birds.

You do not need to be actively breeding birds or selling them. The Breeders Directory
documents rare and historic breeds, regardless of size of flock.

“It’s important to know what breeds are being kept and how many there are,” said SPPA
second vice president Mary Ann Harley, who is managing the project. “We use this
opportunity to compile a census of the breeds as well.”

For those who are raising birds for sale, the SPPA Breeders Directory is an invaluable
and unique resource. It provides contact information for the breeders who are maintaining
breeds that would otherwise remain undocumented. Since there is no breed registry for
poultry, SPPA provides the service of keeping track of the various breeds.

All breeds and varieties are included in the Breeders Directory, whether recognized by
the APA-ABA or not. An oversight suggested that only recognized breeds would be
included. That is not correct.

“To accommodate as many breeders as possible, we have extended the deadline to
September 15, 2010,” said SPPA president Craig Russell.

Forms for listing are included in the SPPA Bulletin, sent to all members. Send a check
or money order to Dr. Charles Everett, 1057 Nick Watts Rd., Lugoff, SC 29078 or go to
http://poultrybookstore.com to join and receive a form.

You're so sweet to offer. Thank you! I did find some babies, but I will have to travel a bit to get them... And she has some hatching right now which would be better, but she's unsure of when they are hatching..HMM.. I'm suppose to check back. Thanks again.. I'm still hoping maybe some will come up a bit closer!

Hello all my wonderful BYC friends
smile.png
So, it's kinda nice (but not at the same time) to see that some of you didn't sleep last night due to the storms too! They rolled in by us around 3am and ended around 5:30. I didn't go to sleep until 1am though, due to some weird insommnia stuff going on. I think with me home with the baby almost every day, I tend to stay up later at night to get a good dose of "me" time! haha.

TO) You have pied scovies? What colors?!?!
big_smile.png
Omg, I would LOVE to come visit. It's kinda a hard week (or 2) because Wed is my dreaded birthday, so we will be busy doing "me" stuff. (Although, I'd love a trip to the farm on my b-day, we should be doing what I want right?
wink.png
) Let me talk to DH, and I will get back to you later tonight on here. It's a possibility! I will whisper sweet nothings to you eggplants, to help them along! I don't know about the hay though
wink.png
Our sitter always tries to con me into helping her with hay. I always tell her I'm going to be out of town
wink.png
Teasingly of course!

Annarie) Hahah! Although, secretively, I have a want for a pink cowboy hat with a tiara.
smile.png
If i'm going to wear one of those things it better be BLINGY! haha. Well, it's a bummer you weren't hanging around the poultry barn more. I kept an eye out for you anyways. Hope next time you are on you find some baby peepers!
smile.png

DrH) Good luck with oneniner, and i'm keeping my fingers crossed!

Becky) Cute quails, what breed?

HD_Darcy) Hello! and
