Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Well Raiquee--guess what? You forgot to whisper sweet eggplant nothings to my plants when you were here! I was out ther yesterday and I have only one marble sized fruit! I have 6 plants and they all look good and healthy so I am not giving up just yet. C'mon over to the canning board--there is sure to be someone who has successfully canned the thing you mentioned...Carbonata? Sounds like a sauce...

Good news and bad news here...remember this morning when I said the girls were creating a ruckus? I went down there with some bread and just sat coaxing them out from under the HUGE stinging nettle that they love to run around in. They were eating some bread and we wewere starting to talk and all of a sudden one of the roos screamed and they all ran back under! I looked around and still could see nothing so I went back to my log chair. Low and behold, about 10 minutes later a huge hawk comes swooping down through the dooryard! Thanks Goodness it didnt get anything! I sure did not see it in the trees anywhere but they knew it was there! They are amazing at spotting predators. I will be the predator now...the .22 will be going down with me tomorrow...got to give that bird a little scare I think!
The good news is that the striped roo came home. He was maybe hiding out in the barn? My daughter saw him up near the pear tree at the road and I coaxed him at least to the lower level near the rest of the birds. The buff Orpington got out of her pen in the coop too (got great security here...) and is now thinking about being broody here. Her owner did say she is determined to have some babies!
OK--water is running outside so I better get to it...Terri O

Dr. H, how do you ever manage to get up so early???? I dread the thought of getting up every day at 5:30 AM!!!

Today was the Freshman orientation at West, bright and early at 8AM which translates to a wake-up call of 6AM for me! I think I need to make a ton of breakfast on the go type things for the morning so we can eat in the car!!! Thankfully she had a good time, and is looking forward to her High School time at West.

Tonight is the orientation at the local school for 6th grade so I better bug out.

The skeeter population makes me think of how they are not out on the Oregon coast,..... and how NICE that must be!!!

Have a good one!

Good Cocktail Time To All.... Babylady I do have dill to go with the cukes. I think I could prolly shorten my dill row next year. I will have a ton of heirloom dukat dill seeds if anyone cares, for sure.

Jennie will be here on Friday. I hope she can take pics of the java males I'm keeping. I'll have her snap some others too. Prolly have to show you the 3 Amigos Annarrie. One is named PenRod, one is GoldenRod, and the other is HotRod The largest male java is named hugo...I think he is a dandy. The buckeyes are the world's tamest breed. Folks would be happy with their good nature for sure. The cockerals aren't tough with each other so far. They are gentle for sure.

Gonna start the V7 juice tommorrow. Prolly do a couple batches. Still have 50 quarts from last year. Don't wanna over do it, eh.

Steak and eggs for supper. Left over backstraps from the grill....

I ordered a new colored version of the Standard Of Perfection....should be here this week. Anytime someone needs some information, Ill glady share, or scan and send you a page. Tired of trying to reserve one at the library...always out and about. I need it now...

Funny you should post about the SOP Bigz. I was just thinking of getting one for myself. Where did you order yours from and do you think you got a good deal? I have no idea how much it costs. Is there any place on line that you can get the same information? I was literally just going to start researching that tonight! Funny how stuff comes about heh? Terri O
(PS) I can PM you my address...I would love some of those dill seeds from you. Someone once told me if I plant dill once it will be back year after year from freely self-seeding...they were WRONG!

Evening to All...I did order mine from the APA website....they are $59 and free shipping. I assume it's the latest addition... I'll let you folks know what arrives in the mail? Educate me here if I'm missing something BCC?

I know the marans were being considered this year....

Whew, miss a day, miss a lot. Yup, still here Annarie, though I don't get online every day and certainly can't post very much. The little guy and I had a checkup at the midwife's today, he is up one full pound in 10 days. He is a champion eater

Thank God my mom was here for a week, she did a bunch of canning for me so my garden is not going to waste.

Hey Annarie, any girls in that bunch of Runners you're selling? I know Julie would be tempted... Her Pekins have started laying too, every egg in the pool

Sounds like everyone is hip-deep in busyness; may your harvests be great and your recipes delicious!

We ordered the SOP 2001 so that DD can read up on the couple of breeds she is working with(translate that I can read it too and explain to her).

One of the babies is not doing to well this evening-standing a gasping from time to time-our friend who is also the 4-H club poultry leader was over and wasn't sure what was wrong either- guess morning will tell

poor guy.

DD is almost done with her 4-H project reports and permanent record book.

Amyable glad to hear that all is well and the little guy is gaining weight!
