Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

What a great day to sleep in! I finally have my first cuppa here...the pot was having problems this morning. Maybe it was visiting with DrH and his buddy late last night? My DH was just telling me when he got home that the guys on the job wanted to go out after their cookout on Thursday night...he said, "I just cant do that anymore!" No kidding! At least you were safe in your own backyard H!
Well I was going to take our some more potatoes from the garden today...guess I cant do that too well in the rain! I think I will make some chili in the crockpot for supper. Maybe even a loaf of fresh bread! Right now I feel like I could just go back to bed--rain makes me hurt!
I guess I could do some canning; still have that bruschetta in a jar to do and I got some more apples from a friend yesterday so there is that...feeling pretty lazy though--maybe after a few cups of coffee I will have a bit more energy--here's to hoping! Have a great day everyone! Terri O

Wow you guys....... I slept in until 7:30. I've already made a gallon of yogurt, enough or Dr. H's pie crust for 3 double crust pies and I am going to start a recipe of bread fron The Bread Bible..... then off to the store while the bread does it's thing to pick up the weekly meat........

Maybe I will take it easy tomorrow but I doubt it!

Enjoy the rainy day; a fitting weather pattern to remind us of the terrible loss nine years ago.

True that. Seeing the pictures of that day still causes my heart to ache just the same, 9 years later.

God bless the USA, especially those who lost loved ones, and keep us safe.

I'm sure I'm not the only one that remembers what they were doing nine years ago, when they heard the news!? I remember it like it was yesterday!

We went to a wedding yesterday and this a.m. some of the kids were up at 7

i'm so tired! who ever dreamed up having a wedding on a friday? people gotta work you know! Well I didnt, but my DH did and the kids had school which all ment I was up at 5:30am. I had to drink coffee all last night just to be able to drive home. I almost fell asleep, I kept saying stay awake stay awake, your kids r in here and you dont want anything to happen to them.
in response to me getting up at 5:30 to make breakfasts, its because of school starting, I got 4 kids in school. we all go to bed by 8:30!

I think I need another machine though, 1 batch doesnt make enough. I had to run the machine 2 x for our pizza.
BL4 we gotta talk about the yogurt, my kids eat alot of it!

I figured we were gonna miss our plans for this morning, I cant function on that little sleep. oh well guess we get to eat what we made for it!

Hi everyone! Taking a break from homework. I'm so done with school today. I have one more assignment and then I'm done for the weekend. Had people come buy the last of the baby goats for the year. This is our last year selling and breeding. Kinda bittersweet. I'll miss having babies in the spring but won't miss the work. DH and I are going for a ride tomorrow. The weather looks like it is going to be wonderful. I'm looking forward to riding without bugs. DD11 had a friend over last night and she wouldn't leave the horses alone. I was worried that she would end up getting hurt. Breathed a sigh of relief when she left. I like showing the kids friends the animals but she wanted to basically sleep down in the barn.

Tried to talk us into letting her ride all night and again this morning. Not happening without the parents here, thats my rule. Not going to have bad feelings if something would happen to her. DH is off cutting wood for this winter, so I have the house to myself. Guess I should quit stalling and get back to the homework. Take care all!

Whose getting that rain??? We could use it down in the south part of the state! We got a few sprinkles early but that is it.
Prayers to those who lost someone 9 years ago... it stays with you... we were visiting friends in DC during 9/11.

Anyway... so DH and I starting this coop finally!!! Yeah!!! I need your thoughts. We are gong for 6 birds here... Dh says no more than that. He is thinking of making the coop 4 x 8(With perch and 2-3 nest boxes inside), 2 feet off ground or so, with an attached run that is 4 x8. We are looking at full sized birds rather than bantams... is this a good size in your opinion figuring that winter they may be inside coop more due to cool weather? We will have a heat lamp in there as well.

Also- tell me your favorite chickens... I have my favorites picked out, but would love to hear your favorites and why!!
thanks gang

I looked at one of the ads here on BYC and it was "The 7 mistakes people make when building their coop." Number one was building it too small! So you know you are going to have more chickens...build it as big as you can! I can look up the link for you if you want...it is clever.

Well--here I am...
