Thomas got to meet his chickies this morning. He approves.

Got 3 chicks from my Marans, 1 died after pip, a really black one - never absorbed his yolk. There are 3 still in the incubator, one I'm pretty sure was a late quitter, the other two were set a couple days later so should be pipping soon if they are going to. I've also got a couple black copper marans, white silkies, a silky cochin (only one egg survived the USPS), and some Ameraucanas from Wayne Meredith (local pickup). They should be pipping in the next day or so as they were set 3 days after my Marans were.

I've got 8 more of my Marans waiting to be set soon and some show girls cooking in the turner right now.

We'll see what we get.

TO) Yeah, thats the problem I am having!! We own the place we are in now, so we'd have to sell this, move into another and if that's the case i'm going to go to Med school in Madison. Which will be a FUN commute out from Sheboygen. UGH. It's frustrating. Maybe I should make sure I can get into Madison before planning on going there!

We are still looking at moving out of state within 3ish years, but now hubby is talking about going back to school which would put a bigger gap inbetween my BA and med school. I hate when the future is unsure. I guess I should just play it by ear. Life is too short. So what if we live in a few houses over the next 6ish years? I don't know if it's technically a bad thing. I totally hear you on the trees and everything. I am going to plant my asparagus crowns though, because i've had em in the bag since last year and they are probably a little..eh. I'd rather get fresh ones, I got em on clearance. We'll see what they do lol. I am going to hold back on the fruit trees though, I don't want to pop those in and want to dig them up later. Plus, our yard is pretty tree-filled already.

Feeling about the same today, thanks for the well wishes guys! Hubby ended up catching it last night, and he is feeling pretty awesome today too! He's trying to sneak a nap right now, which is a good idea as the little one should go down for a nap soon. Going over to my dads with the family though for some good ol' italian cookin'! My dad is real lucky he can make pasta!

Ahh, he tries. We'll watch the packer game there.

Hubby was looking at those electronic cigarettes, maybe he left up the website for me for a birthday hint? It's so expensive to start up, but he's had such bad luck with medication (He was on Chantix and it made him have dreams of walking in front of moving trains and killing his boss. SCARY! I think what was scarier was even after he stopped taking the medication, these dreams continued for weeks afterwards!) so maybe this will help. I know his brother has been doing good on it.

I just bought a full ounce of Mesclun lettuce mix (has Royal OakLeaf Leaf Lettuce, Lollo Rossa Leaf Lettuce, Rouge De Hiver Lettuce, Red Salad Bowl Leaf Lettuce, Baby Spinach, Dwarf Siberian Kale, Mizuna Mustard, French Corn Salad ) which has like 22k seeds!

SO! If anyone wants to do some seed trading, let me know!

Well we got the bug here. My daughter was up all night crying and we let her sleep in our bed because she kept throwing up in her sleep and we didn't want her to roll in it or choke or anything. NOT FUN!

Anyway, I am taking a break from hatching eggs for awhile. I have had chicks for 5 months straight now and I am getting ready to take a break from brooders for awhile. But.... my chickens should start laying soon so I'm sure I will be tempted to hatch out their eggs. I have a few people that will buy some eggs for eating but I will have a lot left over and I don't eat that many. So once they start laying if anyone want's some crazy mixed breed eggs to try hatching let me know. The chicks should all lay neat colored eggs. Both my standard roosters are Easter Eggers and they are over Buff Orpingtons, Black Copper Marans, an Olive Egger, Barred Rocks, Easter Eggers, and other random hens. Plus I have Bantam Frizzles, Cochins, Silkies, and others. It should be interesting to see the chicks.

Anyone looking for Cuckoo Marans? I have a bunch of chicks that I really don't want. I bought eggs off Ebay that had some BCM mix eggs and some Cuckoo purebred eggs and my Cuckoo Maran eggs ALL hatched so I have a bunch but they just aren't my cup of tea. I prefer BCMs. My uncle said he would buy them but I would prefer to sell them to someone that wants purebreds. My uncle pretty much takes anything as long as it lays brown eggs so he doesn't care about breeds.

Raiquee- What kinds of seeds are you looking for? I should have some in Spring. I have Honey Crisp Apples, Raspberries, Blueberries, Grapes, Cherries, Chives, Lemon Basil, Lime Basil, Thai Basil, Oregano, Rosemary, Catnip, and I should have some Moonflower and Morning Glory seeds left.

Where abouts in WI are you? And how old are the Chicks? I may be interested if we arent on opposite sides of the state! How much are you asking for the chicks?

I'm near Manitowoc Wi. So it's pretty far apart.

The chicks are about a week and a half old and I'm taking offers for them I don't have a set price. They are from a breeder not a hatchery.

I just popped in here to tell ODrH to put some clothes on that boy for God's sake!!!!

I saw that pic on the hatching thread before I saw it on here....but I sure didnt want to say anything on another thread...now that you put it here I guess it's fair game for all of us! Cant wait 'till DrH sees it...he oughta have some smart a$$ comment for sure! Terri O--who is off to work

I would love some cuckoo marans, but if I brought chicks home I would be in big trouble! Plus my coop is too full as it is. I need to get rid of some of these roosters, but they aren't old enough to butcher. Now I learned my silver-gray dorking is a cockerel too! I'm probably going to need to rehome him and he's my favorite.

I need to decide if I want to breed my chanteclers or dorkings. I only have room for my lav orps and one other breed.
