Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Dr HaHa It was pretty cool. This is my first year with the chickens, and I'm loving every minute of it! Dont even mind cleaning the poop, or plucking the things for soup!

I just put a 50lb bag of scratch in the can out by the coop. Then I put out a 50 lb bag of layer feed with about 20 lbs of oyster shell and and premixed all that up.

Then took 100lbs of corn outta the back end of the truck and put it in the can for bringing out to the deer in the mornings.

Got my workout for the morning! Hubby just sat inside and read while I did all the heavy lifting.

Making bread today and going to try a new recipe I found online for a chicken casserole. (making with chicken breasts though, im not in the plucking mood today)

Gonna substitute a pack of stuffing mix instead of the bread though.

Hey all!

Busy this weekend, catching up on my online english class that I haven't even looked at this semester! I was hoping grandpa would take DS to my gmas house, but he seems like he doesn't want to. Or hes going to tell me last second and i'm going to have to scramble to get him ready. Whaaatever. Was hoping I could get rid of everyone in the house (haha!) so I could have some quiet time to do homework. Guess not, oh well. Just gonna have to work through it!

Trying to also figure out my fall semester, which I guess I can't figure out until I have a job!!! It would be nice to work second shift so I could take a morning class, but it may not work like that. I have to meet with an advisor at UWM, and talk about where I want to go in the next few years. I am getting my BS in Biomedical sciences (aka, clinical lab sciences) and a certificate in forensic toxicology. It would open up my job options to state lab, which is cool I think.

They have a masters program for Biomedical sciences, but I don't know if that would be worth it or not, simply because the only tech job I can get with a masters (and make more) is the blood center. SIGH. Oh well, at least I have my next two years planned out.

DH also wants to go to school now, which I am super excitied about. He was always anti-college just saying he "Doesn't want to rack up student loans only to come out of college and not get a job"
roll.png
This is a true statement, but no one can take that education away from you. And it's hard to make what you could make with a degree. Possible, but hard. He wants to do DNR work, and I am trying to at least get him in for his general education classes. It's like PULLING a horse to water. Buuut, I just want him to do SOMETHING. He can't just float through life with a HSD and expect things handed to him.
sad.png
Which he is doing right now. And he wonders why he keeps getting crappy jobs after crappy jobs. He doesn't want to do general labor anymore, as his back and knees hurt and I am pushing him to do what he really wants to do. Stop fearing school!

I am a nail biting mess over this job...I just have so much resting on it. We are losing our roommate in March and the inlaws move back up north in March. If i'm not working by March, we got some BIG problems!!! I still have my good feeling though, so I am keeping my fingers crossed that someone is looking down on us!

I wish I had more to do outside so I could enjoy this weather more!

bl4 cool duckies! bet they were happy to feel the sunshine! I keep thinking of reasons to go out, oh time to check the eggs AGAIN. 9 from 11 so far! Messing with the discharge sump hose again someone forgot to plug in the heat tape the other night. Think it was that lazy no account groundskeeper again. Cheap help is hard to find. Guess you really do get what you pay for. Raiquee mellow out! Many people don't hit their stride till after they mature a bit. I didn't go back to school until I was in my 30's now I'm retired in my mid50's. It'll all work out

But the thing I like the best is I'm only mature in my age.

Mag Man you really loaded up on supplies hope your DH appreciated all your work, if he didn't mention it give him only one egg for Bfast maybe just the white and not the heel from the bread and no butter or honey. Bad naughty DH! Nah give him a kiss and tell him you love him anyway. You know the old saying about attracting more flies with honey but my question is who the heck wants flies? Gotta go back outside!

Haven't had to spend much at all so far. Re using most of the same things just relocating. Will go to the restore this week because we have room for two more cabinets

I was in the thinking on going back to school after all my kids get into school, but I wouldn't have a clue what to go for? when I was a senior I was done with school by 1 and took child care courses through the tech. that got me a job working in daycare while my 2 oldest were young then I left the job force and took care of kids in my house. BUT there's NO way I want to do child care any more. I got enough kids, I need adult conversations now. but still only want to work when my kids are in school. maybe in the kitchen at school?? I love to cook!? I also think an ultrasound tech would be cool? but the hours??? I do NOT want to take away from my kids, and that is that! so looks like I'm stuck, probably gonna work in a store. Oh well! maybe we'll stick DH through school for CNA, He thinks he might like that?! IDK about that. He's afraid of school. but he's got a good reason, he's got dyslexia (sp?) his reading sucks.?? ANYWAYS! lol I hate being sick! 5 of us out of 7 now are on antibiotics! dumb! I think it is time for supper/movie/bed! too ta loo!

Just got home from taking Thomas (my 22 month old) for a walk down the road. He had a blast pointing out things to mommy. Snow, dirt, fence, silo, barn, tree, telephone pole, BIG tree, puddle (yes, there was one little one!), chickens, house, and rocks. Lovely day out there.

4 lavender bantam Ameraucanas out, 1 zipping, another pipped. 4 silkie eggs pipped.

He's helping me build the rest of the brooder tonight, and he went down to Tractor supply with me today and helped load chicken feed and pine shavings. I got the babies coming next week!

I have dinner in the oven. Just hope he isnt comatose after dinner, and helps me finish this brooder tonight!
