Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

my missing hens appeared the next morning. My DH is on meds for lyme, theres a spot where he got bit from the tick. One question, does anyone know, If you get a spot where the tick bit, does that mean for certain you got lyme from it? We only go to the dr when we got bit IF theres a spot and they always give us meds for lyme. but just because there is a spot does that mean it's lyme? My dad,

, had a tick on him that had the "spot" and never went to see the dr, the spot healed up and now nothing (as far as he knows). I keep telling him to go in and get checked out.

well I gotta run

Raim, DH got a deer tick bite this year too. It was just a red spot that is going away, so he hasn't gone to the doc. A bullseye is supposed to be a dead giveaway. He hasn't noticed any aches, flu symptoms, and isn't lethargic. Not every tick carries the Lyme organism. Good excuse to get guineas though

Steamy Afternoon All... No rain here either. The wind picked up during the night, but that was it. The storm stayed west and north of us.
Glad you found the post ones raim.

My two Buckeye roo's really got into it again. The one has a swollen and closed eye. It is quite serious I think. Anyone know if there is something I can do for him?

Managed to get the sparegus in the freezer. Here is a couple 5lb bags that are going to get rinsed before blanching.

We kinda split it up into 2 containers for the rinse job.

We froze it in 1 lb bags for future use, or share with hungry Docs!

Nice harvest, Bidz!
A friend once told me that he recommends a saline eye flush and use terramycin eye ointment for a swollen eye.

He is a BYCer that usually gives advice in the emergency section. His name is dawg53, and he really seems to know a lot about chicken health.

I hope your roo's eye isn't bad. Good luck.

It was a good thing that I had no plans today.. I ended up moving all the quail and some of the guinea keets from the smal brooder to the big brooder.. Of course the big brooder wasn't ready so I spent an hour cleaning it and getting it bedded and a heating hood installed..

then I gathered all the eggs from the common guinea nest.. I put them all into the bator.. the guinea hens were too busy fussing at each other and chasing other hens away.. I guess this will be the mother of all rotation hatches.. I have no idea when they will start hatching nor how long from start to finish. there are 54 eggs in the tray..

and "happy dance" my first peafowl egg is pipped. I turned it so I can watch the progress.. and there IS progress!!

Speaking of Dancing !!! No happy dances here yet !!! I candled my guinea eggs that I got from you Jim today. May be to early to tell but I did see one with a blood ring all the way around, weird. Then there was one that I think was close to a week to two weeks in development. Must have been sat on for a while, no movement but then again it wouldn't since they weren't being sat on Saturday, Sunday and Monday of last week. Then the rest so far nothing. Some looked all clear then about 10 or so the bottoms looked a bit darker. No veining though. Might be early.

Whatcha think Jimbo ???

I'm excited for you as well with those peafowl eggs !!! I just need one hen. About a year old or so. I only paid $10 for each of mine so don't want to spend $50 or more. Don't really need one, know what I mean, darn Chicken math !!

Went and took pictures, will upload them now. Then batteries went dead !!!

Early Evening All.....thanks for the help with the eye injury. Sounds like a good remedy for the problem. Yep, I'm familiar with dawg. Good bycer.

Thanks for noticing my sparegus. I didn't actually grow it....I just harvest it!

Oh Ya, I'm in for a front row seat to see that happy dance Jim. Anyone want a nipp before the dance?

We should of had a sheephead game or two at the bash....anyone play besides me? Need at least 3 real players. I prefer cut throat. The more the merrier though....
