Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Here's some pictures of my new call ducks. If anyone can help me determine the colors of these calls that would be super!

(sorry for the photo quality. I sized them down for faster uploads... and because photos have been being stolen off of flickr and people have been claiming them as their own...)

This one is the drake

Hen. is this one a lavender?

Hen - she is all white.

Hen - she is really pretty

Hen - she is speckly. I also have a black one that is super camera shy but she is not speckled and only has a white bib... no white on her head... what would they be also?

sigh... what a day... the storms hit us pretty good this morning. My swingset is upside down and in pieces. Our homeowners deductible is more than the swingset was... so dont know when that will get fixed. A lot of trees down by us.And I have spent half the day trying to get my plants to stand up right again. Tomatoes are all over my yard... and I am frustrated that I cant get one of my trellises to stand up with the clematis on it. Tried to put in the stake to help it stand up, but dont have the muscles. Just tired today and the heat is melting me! Yikes. besides not being happy that they are wet, the chickens made it through in flying colors with the storm. Just have 2 that appear to be doing a summer molt- is that common???

Here is a picture for your viewing pleasure:(we are just glad it did not fall on the coop behind it)

If all else fails, you can make a coop out of it !!! That is how this project got started.

Don't forget to advertise on Craig's List in all surrounding areas.

I sure hope the beagle that got killed on the HWY isn't yours but you never know. Stranger things have happened. Could have been picked up on the road by someone (teenagers or ??) and after they changed there minds decided to drop him off ??? May be worth looking into. Maybe if you just call the sheriffs office in that county and see what sex it is? That might tell you right then and there that it is NOT your dog. Poor Beagle RIP sweety !!

I would also advertise a Reward and mention in your Lost Ads that he is Microchipped. Again offer a reward and say no questions asked.

The first word on my dog tags is REWARD instead of their name and the second word is MICROCHIPPED. It may mean dit piddly to most but you never know it just might mean the difference of me getting my dog back or not.

Might also want to post an ad in local paper describing the dog and telling any parent that comes home with a "free" dog or whatever that it is not the case and mention the Reward and Microchiping again.

Do you have any pictures that would identify the markings on him? I don't know how small of a town you are in but I would think one day that dog may just be seen walking down the street after the new owners feel safe enough that you quit looking.

Give the "new " owners "finders keepers" a chance to care for the dog for a while, they may decide to look for the owners after having him for a while. My understanding is that beagles can be barkers and runners. And if he is still young a chewer??? Never know, they might even adverstise him "Found". Then when they go to look in the paper they will see your ad.

Years and years ago I had a black female cat that snuck out the door in the middle of December. I imediately placed an ad. The ad stated that she had a tooth missing and a big crooked bend in her tail. Well anyway 3 months later I got a phone call from someone that had my cat. Turns out someone found her under their car about a month after she went missing. Gave her to someone else. They were going to keep her. Then one day a friend came over and when they saw the crooked tail they said they remembered an ad they saw in the Lost & Found section of the paper. (long before internet was available) So get this, The person that was going to keep her went downstairs to look for the ad in a stack of papers and the ad I had placed was either sitting on the top of the stack of papers or it was folded to that page, hard to rermember so long ago but it was kinda spooky I remember that. They had fallen in love with her "Cheta"

and asked if they could keep her but I just couldn't. I had gotten her when I was 15 and was going thru my second bout with cancer and she was special to me too. Actually my sisters husband (boyfriend at the time) gave her to my sister and picked her from the others at the humane society because of her crooked tail. He thought she wouldn't get addopted because of it so he picked her. She was 7 yrs old when this happened and she lived to be I think 20 yrs old. RIP my sweet Cheta kitty

Good Luck !! I sure do hope he comes home, sooner or later for you

I know you mentioned more plants Doc, I go with 8 for sure. If you but 3 packs go for 9 plants, you won't be disappointed. These plants will keep producing til fall

Only picked up 1/2 inch of rain here. Truly a blessing for the much needed rain.

Thanks for sharing all the great pics...truly priceless.

Prolly be able to tip er back kris, and you're good to go!

Trying to let the bo boo"s out to play in the grass....they seem stubborn and afraid to leave the comfort of their pen. Just wait til they discover the freedom that awaits them here....they will be flying out the pen door the minute it's open.

Glad Annie bailed kenny out....I feel better now...Jim you meannie....

Thanks for the good wishes cc!

Yikes! That is scary, Kristip. I'm glad it didn't hit the coop either.
The most important thing is that noone was injured. Material things can be replaced or repaired. We are just glad to hear that you are ok.

We got some pretty wicked winds this morning too, but luckily not as bad as you. One of my trellises was ripped completely off the house, along with part of my honeysuckle vine. Never even heard it. I did hear something that sounded faintly like thunder or a train, but it was too long to be thunder & too loud for a train. It wasn't a trellis, that's for sure. Luckily, the trellis with my clematis was unscathed, but that one is on the east side of the house.

So sorry to hear of all your troubles, Carol. I hope things start turning around for you soon. You wear me out just reading about you.

Cute duckies, Dornes!

Scary situation, TO! I don't know what to make of that guy, other than he had something to hide. Glad you told him to move on.

Carol, you soooooo make me feel like a slacker! I get exhausted just reading about your days!!!

Welcome Breac, nice you finally joined us, the folks here are great and most of them dont' bite and the ones that do are up to date on their shots as far as I know.

Goth sorry to hear puppy hasn't returned yet. Don't give up hope though, there's still a chance she'll turn up.

Cind, you can count me in on the falling apart category fer sure!

Non... the misquitos are horrendous! I feel like a smorgasbord,no matter how much gunk I put on they find the one spot I miss. I'm starting to look like i have chicken pox or something!

TO that guy was strange indeed. I can't even begin to imagine what he might be doing with those birds, nor do I want to... Dornes is right there are strange folks out there and they do walk among us ****shiver****

Dornes, very pretty call ducks.

Kristip, whoa! Too close for comfort there. Thankfully nothing blew down here... just had out huge trees pruned last week, none to soon apparently as the winds were wild today. Hope no one else suffered any damages.

Well just came to catch up, nothing exciting or unexciting for that matter, to report here. Ordered a survey today, since we think neighbor might be fudging just a bit... but we'll see....

Have a great evening all!
Deb

Oh, yeah......

Breac! Always happy to have another cheesehead join in. Hope you like it here. DK is correct, we don't bite, much......

And speaking of biting, yes, the mosquitoes are horrid this year! I sometimes wonder why when I come in the house, I feel dizzy, then I remember I'm prolly low on blood after feeding the vermin. I get swarmed just cruising out to the chicken coop & back. And don't even think about going to pick the raspberries........

Always, Bigz!

And I'm jealous. I want fresh broccoli! I just made a huge salad with broccoli & cauliflower for dinner.

FrenchToast- We have contacted the police, humane society, local vets, and put ads around town. I tried posting on Craigslist but my ads get flagged right away. Also we can't afford to give a big reward right now. We have 2 birthdays this month and with the baby on the way money is really tight. She wasn't micro-chipped either because she was just under 6 months we were waiting to do her rabies, boosters, spay, and microchip all at the same time. Our vet wont do any of it till they are at least 6 months.

Our other animals are all fully vetted and micro-chipped but because of her age it wasn't possible yet. We are going to wait about a week and then start looking for an adult dog because we really got the puppy for our daughter to have a companion before the baby arrived and I wanted a house dog because DH works from 3:30pm-2:30am and I am going to be home alone with a 2 year old and a newborn and feel more comfortable having a dog in the house to warn us if someone breaks in. I just get so paranoid adopting an adult dog when I have kids because all it takes is for the dog to snap once, but on the other hand I can't start over with a puppy right now. We are kind of on a time crunch because we want the dog to be settled in and adjusted before baby arrives in Sept-Oct. I just don't know what to do. I don't want to give up but we haven't even had a single lead and we live in a small town and with the baby getting closer and closer I feel really confused on what to do.
