Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good morning, I was up before 5am.. located the peacock on top of the turkey pen.. If he continues spending the nights up there, I will let him freerange.. he really is a quiet natured boy..

when Annie gets home, we are going to butcher all the young roosters.. Ken gets upset whenever we mention butchering.. "Is that all you can think of ??" Annie then says, Yes Ken, I think of it all the time.. LOL Funny thing, he never complains at the supper table with fried chicken on his plate.. Prolly never makes the connection..?

last visit to the dentist he told me I have a cracked tooth.. last night it decided to ache.. I have to decide if I want it fixed or yanked.. I hate to lose a tooth..

I disconnected the thermo on the camper and routed it through the heater as per directions and got no cooling what so ever. Need to call the dealer today maybe it's just the heater. He called me back yesterday to tell me the thermo was no longer available then called again to say he found one. $45 but won't know till I talk to him again if that's the prob or not. Worse comes to worse I could just run it on gas but that's a hassle with the tanks and all. Man I'm lazy! Been getting nothing but grief from the wireless connection on my puter, this morning it didn't even show that it wasn't making the connection. I re-ran the eithernet cable. Been on the phone locally and across the pond many times. I give up.

Didn't have the adapter when we went wireless, the guy said ya the adapter just plugs in and your all set. MY A$$!

Finalllllyyyyyy! I got all caught up on the happenings around here!

Welcome Breac! Great to see you on here I'm super glad you stopped in!!!!

To-that dude at the fair was just nuts. You did the right thing. If he was serious about buying quality birds, then he would have known what he was looking for and not been so wonky. I bet he was running a scam but why? It makes no sense! But I guess when your nutter butters things make sense to you.

GC-I'm sorry about your puppy.

dk-That is a great shed for chickens! You can always use privacy fencing on the one side by the neighbors to keep them a little more hidden.
Your memorial garden is quite lovely.

Who got the new Calls? I can't remember but those are some cute little ducks!! Congrats!!

SO since I cant remember much else, I have news! At least one of my Worthless Chickens is not so worthless anymore! One or two of the pullets is laying! I got a new pullet egg yesterday (a light brown one) and one today. Todays egg was darker so I'm thinking it might be a Barnie!! I'm so happy!!!
wee.gif
But one of the Girls-the pesty PR was pecking at the egg yesterday so I need to toss in a few golf balls with them to get them bored of round objects so they leave the eggs alone. I dont want to have to process egg eaters.....that would suck since Im sure the ones who would eat eggs would be the better layers...stupid birds....I have to recalculate my Chicken Math.
That is about it on the chicken front.

The winds got to really blowing yesterday morning and the storm was just mean. I had to set to straights my pea grid and my black berry bush is looking weepy. I need to stake it I think. the beans are ok and the tomatoes are find. A few of them fell a little but for the most part they did fine. I have to get some more stakes for the tomatoes that fell over.
Ok I have got to get gone! I need to do some laundry...

see ya!

Say- does anyone in the Madison vacinity have a live trap that is coon sized we could borrow? We have now seen on teh trap camera who our predator is that took my sweet silkie last month and want to take care of it. Looks like it shows up between 2-4 in the am and does laps around the run. Needs to go. Thought I would ask before we spend the cash...
thanks

Those calls would be mine
cool.png
and I am so glad that I have them. This morning was so funny watching them take turns in the little kiddie pool (well one of those turtle sandboxes with water in it). Although, I am going to have to figure something else out for the waterers in the coop at night. Both were empty this morning - darn ducks! Chickens were THIRSTY. Some jimmy rigging is going to have to suffice.

We are off to look at a farm this morning - hoping something transpires from it. Talked to the bank yesterday and they gave us the okay to go look at it. Pre approved... we currently milk an 85 acre dairy farm with my hubbys brother, who also works off the farm. And he wants to quit his off the farm job so we need to expand or buy a close by farm. 4 miles away. It's a nice one
smile.png
And there would be SO much more room for my chickens and ducks
smile.png
Right now we just live in a double wide on a small lot on the farm, while his brother lives in the actual farm house for the farm. They inherited it 3 years ago.

Well, appts in a half hour, better get washed up!

More rain in the forecast today - but the weather outside is wonderful, have all my windows open!

Any luck on the puppy today Goth?

Boy Jim aren't you a LUCKY DUCK !!

This is really weird !!! I posted a big long post yesterday an poof it all disappears !!! In that post I was talking about my toothache. Long story shorter, went last week. They redid a huge filling that was cracked. My pain was terrible. The old dentist that I got said my pain was from TMJ and there was nothing else they could do for me. Said I had another chipped filing that needed to be done so made an appointment for OCT, soonest I could get in !!!
Which I think was the tooth causing the problem cause I can't bit down on that side.
Anyway the day after I had the huge filling filled my pain was REAL BAD. I thought BULL$h!T OCT my @$$. So called and got in yesterday. 42 mile drive one way. Saw a different dentist and he did the ICE COLD test on all of the teeth on that side of my mouth. Turns out he said it is the same tooth the other dentist filled last week !!!! I talked him into filling the chiped filling so I COULD SEE FOR MYSELF that it wasn't that tooth !!! lol
Anyway, because the tooth that was filled last week didn't respond to the ICE COLD test he said the root was dying and I MIGHT have an infection, the root is dying and I will either have to have the tooth pulled or have a root canal for $900 plus a cap for $900= $1800 OR have it pulled for $150.
It is the furtherst back molar so ??????
The weird part here is that Jim caught my toothache.

Now I have to make that decision too !!! I hate losing teeth too !!! You know I"m in Crandon, home of toothless wonders !!! If I get the tooth Cap can I stll get my horse cart ???? Have to figure out how to get both !!!!

Still don't trust what tooth it is ??? Hate to have a tooth pulled to find out that wasn't the culprit !!!

SO we'll have to have another club here. Achy Breaky Tooth club !!!! Jim you can be president !!!! I"ll be secretary. I'll Pm everyone my address so they can send their dues. (Gonna get that horse cart one way or another)
Don't mean to rub it in but my tooth is getting better. They sure stirred up that nerve !!!

Well guys, though my personal life has all gone to he11 my Cream City Hens one is going well.

(Personal stuff cut short--my ex said he'd pay the car bill because we're so far behind. He just got a part time job and I've been looking for work since November. He bought an xbox instead and I walked out of the house on Saturday to an empty driveway. I have two kids and live in the middle of nowhere. What am I supposed to do now?)

Hens stuff, though! Whee! Cream City Hens is the organization that I run in Milwaukee that recently succeeded in ordinance change. We are partnering up with Sweet Water Organics in the city. They're going to be keeping a coop on their property and include it in their tour so we can get a little more publicity. They're also allowing us to host our henkeeping workshop there on the 30th of this month. Well, a local cooperative building company built and donated a brand new coop to us, but then I was wondering where the heck I was going to get hens to put inside! Well, yesterday I just happened to click on Facebook and a new post slid into view, from My Pet Chicken. They offered 8 straight run Speckled Sussex and 3 female EE's to the first person to answer their question correctly. And who do you think won??? YAY! As long as we have four of the eight SS's turn out to be girls, and the EE's are girls, we're golden! We actually owe a member of ours three EE girls from a raffle we held for the volunteers of the group. We had some eggs from Hurley and they all developed wonderfully but none of them hatched.

YAY!

Beagles are cute, but they are hounds. They are not house dogs, they were bred for rabbit hunting. If they get out or off their leash they will put their nose to the ground and follow it. We've had beagles for hunting and they run! My brother tried to buy one at a petstore as a house pet. Well, he wasted his $500, that dog could not be housed trained. He ended up giving her away.

good afternoon, the butchering went well.. did 13 roosters in an hour.. still have a bunch of younger roos to do in a few weeks..

we transferred the delawares and young barred rocks to the pen where we took the roos from.. Now the americaunas are all alone.. hope that takes care of the feather pulling that was going on..

the peacock is staying in the yard real good.. He even was relaxed enough to spread his tail for a short show..

I am waiting for the steel yard to cut up some re-bar for my tomato stakes.. I am buying 14 ea ten foot lengths for $3.25 each ,, and they are even cutting them into 5 foot lengths for me.. I can pick them up as soon as I get done here..

I am going to limit the growth of the tomato plants to whatever height the stakes are after I pound them into the ground.. I tie the plants to the stakes with bale string.. it usually decomposes by next year..

I called a dentist about my tooth.. he will get me in tomorrow already.. I am going to try to talk him into refilling it.. however, I do know that it is split/cracked..

The receptionist was really surprised when she asked for my age.. Almost like; you still have your own teeth ?? LOL Mom is 96 and has all of her own teeth.. All 6 of us kids have good teeth.. my oldest sister is 73..

gotta go,, later..........jiminwisc...........

I am glad somebody else spoke up.. I have been biting my tongue for days.. we used to hunt beagles also.. the old guy I got my pup from told me that a good day's hunt with a beagle is if you can come home with it at the end of the day..

I always said that a beagle goes completely deaf after it is 15 feet away from you..

for in the house, buy a small yapper.. any of the small breeds with the belief that they are huge..(in their minds)..

don't get me wrong, I am not happy that yours ran away,, but it might be a blessing in disguise..
