FT is back, my eyes are kind of wobbling around and it is hard to focus after all that reading..

It is too bad about the dog getting hit by a car.. I am not one to tie a dog .. If it gets hit on the road it is my fault.. even if the jerk that hits it swerves to hit it..
The dog we have now does not go onto the road, even if we do. . he will walk parallel with us through the garden.. we have never taken him onto the road,, even on a leash.. He just sort of learned this on his own.. when we go for the mail, he sits on the driveway about 50 feet from the road and waits.. too bad dogs can't train other dogs, eh?

those 2 late hatched turkeys did die.. I figured they would.. I told Annie that I am not going to hatch any more late eggs.. either you hatch with the flourish on hatching day, or out you go..

My lawn mower parts didn't come in today as expected.. might have to sharpen the blades some more..

I am going to take the carburator off DD#1 mower.. I think the fuel line is sucking air.. Or the primer bulb is shot.. Or the filter is plugged.. Or all the above..

first I will run some sea foam thru it.. might be just shellacked up..

TO do you want my dill recipe or B&B or relish? Sorry that I forgot you asked, I'll pm the one you want as soon as I know. WOW FT that's so sad about the kid! Hope you get a nice B'day present! WCc that is just so wrong about the dog being hit! My canning shelves are full I must be close to being done.

Oh no--those showgirls might have stolen my heart! (nope, not this year!) OK--here are the pics I took this morning: First the ill-fated Turk's baby; (Turk--not the baby!)

He runs around so fast that I couldnt get a good shot of him! Here is another where I bated him with food to stand still. He is with Mom and Sibs:

Here is my Hibiscus that the tortoises really are enjoying! I give them the blooms at night when they are done for the day.

The flowers are as big as luncheon plates!

Hey FT--I thought those GP's are supposed to be livestock guardian dogs? Sorry he got your roo...guess yours didnt read the manual?

Jim--someday the parts might get there...probably after the first frost...
Thanks for that link about Reckless the horse. Very interesting. Unfortunately every time I get to youtube I end up watching all the other "recommended" vids and losing about an hour of my time! Gotta stay away from there...

I picked a bunch of stuff out of the garden today; a few beans, lots of zucchini and now the yellow summer squash is starting too. Still time for you to get me that pickle recipe DrH...my cukes are only 1" long! So adorable!

Really thinking I should take my horse out for a jaunt tonight...maybe....

OK--off to get some weeding done! I need to plant the daylillies and bushes I got at Shopko's 60% off sale yesterday. I think I am going to use them to frame the back corner of our yard...maybe with a rustic fence? Oh no--another place to get overgrown and weedy.....*sigh* I think I need a gardener! (OK--I'll take a housekeeper too....) Terri O

(PS) RAIM--have you been selling shirts?

Ok so since my cukes failed I just bought 6 target bags full from a lady for $10! So pickling I go this weekend. Now what to do with all the squash and zucchhinni? Gifting and selling some but still more arrives. Wish i could trade for tomatoes!

Here is a question for those that make spaghetti sauce or things where you need to can a quantity of tomatoes to actually make something- what do you do when they are not all on the same time frame? Do I freeze the tomatoes whole that are ready now since there are alot of green ones coming? What would you do?

Kristip--you can freeze them until you have enough and then thaw and can...you will lose some quality though if you are planning on canning them as tomatoes with nothing else. (not so much with sauce) I try to get varieties that will produce eating tomatoes early on and then the Romas get ripe all at once so I use those to can with. Something to think about for next year? You must have indeterminate types this year...they tend to ripen as they will. The determinate types ripen all at once and then the plant dies.
What I would do is try canning in small batches. This is easy to do with tomatoes. Maybe just a few quarts at a time? HTH--Terri O

I am back.. actually I have been back for some time ... so much to read..

I got DD#1 lawn mower fixed.. All it took was Seafoam and WD40.. I had it running in about 5 minutes.. It is a Toro w/bagger.. I called her and she said that she didn't really want it.. I told her she could borrow it anytime she wanted.. I guess I have a spare lawnmower..

The parts for my rider will not be here until next week.. Maybe the spare lawnmower will become my primary one.. Well, at least until the parts come in..

I had a burst of ambition this morning.. I took soap, brush, scotchbrite pad, bleach and rags and washed ALL of the waterers.. It took almost 2 hours.. either I am waaay slooow, or I have too many ....
