And apparently my mom's blue turken is a rooster, so he has to go.

If anyone is interested in my roosters (actually these 2 are my mother's) I live in Amery. That's in North Western WI near the MN border. I could meet, I'd be willing to drive an hour and a half from my house.

MLH glad there wasn't more damage, it really could have been much worse. As Rosanne Rosanadana would say "It's always something!"

Spent about an hour today helping my 72 year old neighbor get her pontoon, which broke free, off the sandbar and tied back up. She's so cute, she thanks me and says "Oh I take such advantage of you!" Yeah, always bringing me boquets from her garden, casseroles, cake... oh, it's tough, I'm telling you!

Got a flower bed dug, to take some phlox and daylilies she's giving me, about an hour more work tomorrow and it'll be good to plant. Gonna borrow her power washer and do my poor back patio and then mortar down the bricks around the tree. Then if it's not raining I'll scrape the peeling paint off the garage and get everything prepped for painting. I went and rounded up all the supplies for painting and the mortar job this morning.

Tomorrow afternoon gonna take a closer look at my shed and start drawing up some plans for the coop. Also need to spend some time cleaning up around the shed/garage as I'm still finding bits of shingles and the occasional nail. DH said before we bring the chickens in he wants to have some dirt brought in for the run, which all things considered might be a good thing. Thinking about doing the raised grass salad bar for them, since I'm pretty sure they won't be doing much in the way of free ranging here. The local hawk must have heard of our plans as he's taken up hanging out in one of our big maples out back...

Now that we have the survey done and I know exactly where my property line is I can start planning what trees have to come down along the lot line (all of them and one the neighbor agreed I could take down so I can get more sun!) Unless she decides to come down on the price of her lot next to me by spring most of my yard, except under the big maples will become orchard and garden and then DH will have spent 1,000.00 on a nice mower for nothing

He LOVES to mow, don't think he realizes if I don't get that lot he's losing that... hmmmm... that could be some leverage

Well, off to take care of some things before turning in.
Later
Deb

Hi to everyone, Wow so much reading! All the wonderful recipes (thanks for sharing) New additions, FT waiting for pics on your pony DKV sounds like next year you will be very busy, happy to hear your getting everything set up for many happy years at your new place. BBP sure wish I lived closer, would love a friendly Rooster. Acerguy sorry about your loss, we let the girls out when we are out close by and after reading about your loss we will have to stay close and keep our eyes open for trouble. MLH sounds like you have your plans made. Be sure to take pictures. CL I think that would be fun to watch when and if I ever get a broody hen.
I am looking for a friendly Rooster for my girls, they are starting to lay and we had to send the mean Jungle Fowl Rooster to camp. He was so much smaller than they are and I think he was having a bit of trouble. He must have been frustrated and got mean to them. Bloody hens isn't what I like to find when I get home. If anyone is close to Green Bay, Denmark area or Neenah (I visit my parents every Friday) I would love to get the girls a new Rooster to take care of them. If someone has one close to there age I think that is best. They are about 18 weeks old. Please PM me if you have a friendly Rooster you could part with. I have 5 EEs and 5 buff orps and 2 production black and 1 production brown.

We have been busy with the garden and birthdays etc, take care and have a good night, Susie

IDK - Edward has some class about him though too... and he's smokin - but Jacob is also pretty easy on the eyes... I just think he tries too hard.

Sorry to hear about the fox attack acerguy - hope that you can find some replacements so that roost isn't so cold come winter. Predators are no fun....

BBP - glad to hear you are an Edward fan too

Is that you with the picture of your friendly roo? And he is a nice lookin roo. But I don't need anymore of them... I have 2 Cubalaya Bantams if anyone is interested.

H&R - pics of the little addition is going to have to wait til tomorrow. Ended up making a run to the grocery store tonight. Tomorrow I am going to try my hand at making pickles.

FT - congrats on the new pony! That neighbor of yours sure sounds like he couldn't tell his head from a hole in the ground even if he tried. Schmuck is what I say... (hey, Schmuck is a word?? Firefox says it is... it isn't underlined in red squiggles) You know what I would do to him...

Can't wait to see pictures of your new addition though!

dk - the raised grass salad bar. Is that where you do a raised bed wall with grass inside and chicken wire so they can't trample that grass? I was thinking of doing one of those in my new run. I will not allow mine to free range - I don't want losses.
