Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good AM, brought another turkey in this AM.. makes #5. but one died so we are back to 4 in the CTV..

DrH, I will try that idea with the wood dowel,, I was going to make a shop press out of some 2x6 and a hydraulic jack.. still might try that.. the shaft is not stepped at all, just straight through with a keyway all the way.. I am always leary about pounding on a shaft end,, I understand about the bolt and threads..

Deb, my mother once told us that her brother told her when she was PG that she looked llike a pea stuck on a toothpick..

I was informed that we have a wasps nest under the porch eaves. yesterday the dog was close to there and he made one loud yelp!

gOOD MORNING---YUP jIM...WE DO ALWAYS SEEM TO POST AT THE SAME TIME DONT WE? Darn caps lock! So the thunder woke me up this morning and dd19 was at my door pretty quickly saying the rain was going to start any minute. Got up to go out and tarp the load of hayin the driveway...YUK, I hate a wet shirt...wet jammies are even worse!

So now it is raining pretty good...the girls and their BFs left for Six Flags at 8:30 or so...they were not pleased about the rain. I am practically drifting off to sleep here...thinking about going back to bed! DH had a flight this morning at 7 in Milwaukee...sure wish that man could pack the night before.....I couldnt get back to sleep! I sure could now though...I am supposed to be off today but, silly me, accepted a cleaning job to prepare for a renter. I have done the house before...shouldnt be longer than 5 hours...I hope the refrigerator is clean...man, I am soooo sleepy!

DK--very nice pics! I used to get some really nice shots when I had my Minolta...It had to be all adjusted---none of this new automatic stuff...that was when I actually understood all the jargon! It was a film camera though....man did I spend the $$$ on developing costs! I always wanted to learn darkroom skills...I guess that is close to a thing of the past now though hey? I really think you should enter some of your work in the fair...it is fun to do AND you get the recognition you deserve!

I have some new eggs!!!!!! It appears that the Welsummer is laying! What a gorgeous egg too. Very terracotta with dark spots/speckles. I just remembered that I got a shot of the eggs...(before I ate them) I will upload them now. The other egg is from the Andalusian and is white. You can see how badly my countertop needs a bleaching too!

The Wheaten Amer. from you is still not laying H&R...she keeps going in the box put then comes out. I picked her up and her pin bones are really close together....wondering if she will be a non-layer....so sad! It was very comical last night when I went out to lock up. All the chickens in the show pen were up on the roost with their same breed/mates next to them! I sure with I would have had the camera then...what are the chances? First were the Wellies, then the Andalusians, the Ameracaunas and then the Jaerhons! Hey Brent...do those Buckeyes of yours ever roost? Mine just sleep on the floor!

I am soooo glad I put fresh shavings and straw down yesterday...now it is getting all wet!!! What a waste--at least I wont be slipping and sliding so much doing chores--if I ever get out there that is; it is pouring buckets...might have to make some eggs to eat! (or take a nap)
Well, I better add that pic and then get moving...maybe I can develop some energy? One of my cats is sitting next to me and is looking up with a puzzled look on her face...guess she is wondering what that loud rumbling is? Speaking of: do they make thundershirts for cats? I actually have a cat that is afraid of thunder! She wouldnt even eat this morning cause she was cowering so bad!
Have a great day all! Terri O

ETA: Man DrH--between you and Jim you must be able to fix ANYTHING!

Cloudy Morning Here.... Happy B day's WoW you guys are old....

just kidding of course! Ain't no stopping them either.

Yep, the Buckeyes will roost, just takes them a little longer before they start. Once they do, they actually go to roost earlier than most of the others, even before sundown. My young ones haven't started roosting yet either, but they will.

We really have a new hatch of skeets here...man they are nasty. I really was bit up this morning doing chores.

Dumped a couple wheel barrow loads of apples in the woods today. I should have a hog or two for goodies like that.

BBP that bird is beautiful! Nice that he's a sweetie! Now I really want one!

TO, Wow, what pretty eggs! Guess I need to add a welsummer to my list! I never thought of entering my pics in a fair. I just got the camera a couple of years ago (last time I had anything to do with photography other than the instamatics was in high school, and they were box cameras!) and never thought my photos were all that great! My dad had a darkroom when I was a kid, and one time he told me you could develop pictures on anything, had a great pic he wanted to put on the front of the 'fridge, but mom had a fit, what a spoilsport!

Maybe I take better pics than I thought. I will definately consider the idea, thanks!

Couldn't agree more about DrH and Jim, they are always working on something... must be nice to have that kind of knowledge and skill!

Well, off to take care of some things, now that the rain has let up...

pretty eggs there, we have some similar to that!! Our Wheaten Ameraucana pullet just started laying last week- of course she went to live with a nice lady who had come to get a couple layers from us and saw her and fell in love with her color. DS(6) was okay letting her go-he has claimed this breed to be his
wink.png
he still has the 2 hens and 1 rooster and knows we will hatch some more out... we didn't keep any of this years hatch!

Our Cuckoo Marans hen is still holding her own- gave her some more vitamins and got her to drink some water, she looks a little more perky today
fl.gif
hopefully she will pull through.

Kids are taking a break from 4-H record books, DD finished her participation report- she will be asking for her silver pin, last year she received her bronze pin(this is all based on what they do throughout the year- meeting attendance, completed projects, what the club does for service projects etc- each item is worth a point and the points are added up) and is now working on the project reports-she is wriiting 4 this year- 2 for a pin and 2 for certificates(she received pins in them already). DS(9) is working on his partricipation report and he will be writting on 2 projects this year and asking for pins in each-this is his 1st year as a regular member. I think these books are an important part of what the 4-H experience is about and pretty much told the kids that they will do them!

Morning !!

Thanks for the birthday wishes but it isn't until tomorrow !!! Had to look at the calender to make sure I wasn't missing the big day !!

H&R--that is good that her sis just started laying...hopefully there is still a chance she will lay! Otherwise I will have to get a few more from you for next year! THe judge said he wanted to see what their offspring would look like...
Our county just instituted mandatory recordbooks for our 4H members. When I was on the Association that was one of my suggestions but it was poo-pooed as too complicated to implement. I guess I must have "planted a seed" hey?

I have been hanging out on the computer lookin' at stuff...maybe the rain is stopped now; the coffee is kicking in so I think I have averted the "go for a nap" factor. I guess I really should get dressed and get to that cleaning job...

I think I really dont want to do it though....*KICK* OK OK I am going!
