OK guys, I can tell that everyone is busy watching the games! I have the mealies sorted and there still isnt another message! Perhaps I wil go and see what I can do in the kitchen....I know! The canning thread! Not that I am going to start anything tonight...it is miserably hot in my house...maybe I will go and take a cool bath! Then go to bed with a bowl of popcorn and a book.

Yep... must be the game.... I don't watch sports, neither dose DH.

Just moved "Lacey" into the brooder pen. She has 11 eggs, none seem to be speckled ones

I was hoping for more speckled egg layers. It was cute watching her make sure they were all tucked under just right. I still would like to SEE a hen steal eggs from another nest. Do they "scratch" them over or roll them with their beak? I know she had to have moved a least 6.

"Odd Ball" chicken is the one I got from Jim at the bash. It was yellow with a little black on the wings. Only one he had there like it. I thought it was cute. What ever she is I think she's cool. I love having a bunch of different kinds of chickens! Makes it easy to tell who is who, in many cases I can even tell who layed what egg.

Maybe CC has it, she's part stork!

She has a long neck too and I don't see much of a comb coming!

Too hot today to do much of anything but try to keep the chickens cool. I have to take DH to the VA hospital tomorrow for some tests so won't get much done then either, besides, it's going to be hot again. He want's to go to the Walworth Co. fair this weekend. Don't know how well I'll get around, my scooter is still not working

Maybe I'll see if I can barrow my son's wheelchair. I can only walk for short distances.

Cind, I have a little hen just like yours, but mine is black and dark brown. I thought she was a Sumatra cross, but who knows? Little poop tried to be broody almost all summer, just gave up this weekend. Yours is a pretty one, maybe a game?

Another Packer Win Evening to all.... Spent the day in town helping the carpenter put a couple new doors in jennie's house. Kinda big job with the house being built prolly in the 30's. Gonna help him finish tomorrow. He loved suzies apple pie for desert at noon. Gotta feed those workers when they are at your place, I'm thinkin....always the way we like to do it. We tell them, don't bring lunch we will provide it. Always seems to be a hit.

Yep, I agree with TO Cind....lookin like some game in storky....pretty for sure. Prolly some of that Uko/Goi from Jim's place and some lucky hen....prolly gonna be friendly.

Gonna need to get into the garden sometime tomorrow. I know some matoes will be lookin to get picked. My amaranth is huge this year, prolly 8 ft high...plenty of grain to share with the flock come fall.... Nighty nite all.....I'm sleepy!

Good Muggy Morning Again! Cind I was thinkin part Harpie Eagle.

TO Peatwo will let the girls eat first if I give out treats but when L does it he's right there taking it from her first.

Some dummy decided to make 4 qts of mustard pickles yesterday. It was hot an muggy in the house or so I thought until I went out to check the kids.

I thought ok this is it I'm rippin the vines out no more pickles! They keep coming and I keep makin them into something. This madness has gotta stop! Grapes and maters are the only things left to tend to. I think? Think today is gonna be an easier day but I thought that yesterday. Thinking about puttin the kids in jail this weekend. I was getting one slw egg a day then one prod red egg now just one brown egg.

Forgot who said something about having time to spend in the kitchen the only reason I have time is cause I'm retired. Thought there would be more time for fishin, I was wrong. But it's comin, been a rough year. I've given up on good neighbor Donny raising us a pig or two. Gonna make a phone call and go check out a lead to see how he raises his pigs. Donny's been givin me excuses for almost a year. I'd do it myself but don't have the room. And I really need to fish more! Gotta go let the kids out and look at the grapes. Cool weather ahead.

CC-Yes, If you could swing by that park and check the "facilities out", that'd be great! I think that was about it. I took a look at the park and what it offers as far as places to have our Bash. There is an indoor building and some outdoor picnic areas available to rent. The fees on the building were I thought rather high..$110 for the day and the picnic areas were $63 to rent. I just took a quick look so I don't know if there are additional fees like park entrance and stuff. I guess we (the Bash goers!) can go from there as far as what we want to rent?

Cind-Hope your DH' tests come back good! I love Odd Ball Chicken! Then again I'm really partial to Asils and the Jungle Fowl types. Super Glue is an Asil or Shamo, although she does not stand at upright as a Shamo. The Asil was one of my main breeds I used to show and breed. I really love their smarts and sweetness. I miss them. I might have to get a few just for old times sake!

(And no FT-that does not mean you "need" to paruse CL and other sites looking for a bunch Asils for MLH!!!

TO- The saying/quote I use I got from a bumper sticker I've had for years! Many years ago, one of our customers at our feed store started a back yard chicken movement and actually has a website and everything. I'm not sure if I can post the web address on this web site or not since they are similar. If you want it let me know!

Well, I gotta go get rabbit food and run an errand or two! I moved the rabbits to a much shadier and breezier (hopefully!) location today and they already have frozen water bottles since it's steamy and hot! Poor dears were panting early this morning! It never really cooled down last night it seems! Plus, we have already had rain and it's gonna be yuckie today! Come on cooler weather!!! Get here already!!

MLH I'm on your side! Cooler weather... Not positive but think we'll get some for the next 6-8 months.

Then we'll be complaining that spring isn't gettin here soon enough, then it'll be hot again, then...... Stupid weather!!!! Didn't catch the local weather this AM and after going outside came in and flipped on the weather channel. Went back out and got the outside chores done just in time for the first drops to start fallin. Over half an inch in about 15 minutes, tunder and lightin too. Lost power for 2 hours but thankfully the beer is still cold. Got one of each on the eggs so far today, hoping to see another of any kind later today. The one slw that's laying is very protective of her egg, she's serious when I try to check under her. WOW what a crab! CP I know you don't get on here often but just checked the paper up nort. 35 lb muskie caught a wrist rockets distance from our camper door. L and I discussed heading up yesterday it seems that she has a full schedule Hmmmm. The weathers cooling off and the ski's are gonna put on the feed bag Hmmmm The lawn is mowed the grapes aren't ready fill the waterers and feeders Hmmm. Think L will miss me.

Afternoon all, hot day today, we worked on our unit that had the kitchen fire a week ago. DH and my brother put down new laminate flooring in the kitchen/living room area as the floor had some damage to it. I washed walls and ceiling in the kitchen area and then primed them so they can be painted this next week. Of course the painting all depends on what I am told at urgent care in the next short while. Too a ride down with the ladder while painting today- thought we had it locked and it wasn't and of course being on laminate floor it slid and down I came. Did something to my right ankle, it didn't start hurting until I got home and took my shoe off to ice it. Now I can't hardly walk and it hurts like he** DS(6) is upset because he thought we were going someplace fun!
