Hi again, I possted so much today, I have nothing new to add.. But I am still up.. Took a shower watched tv and drank a beer and now I don't feel so tired.. maybe another beer will do me in..

I ran a line of 2x6's along the bottom of the siding on the house to use as a guide for striking off the granite.. I used my 6ft level with the yellow fluid.. could not read the bubble so I dug out my antique 4 ft wooden level with the clear fluid.. that worked..

I wonder what I will be able to see a year from now.. I would rather lose my hearing.. but wait !! that is half gone too..
right eye, left ear..can't even split me down the middle and throw the bad half away..

after tomorrow I am turning off the incubator.. None of the eggs seem like they are going to hatch..

I hope it doesn't rain tomorrow.. I want to move the large pens and get them ready for winter.. I want to get a load of straw and make some wind breaks for the geese.. and I want to stack some around the foundation of the chicken coop too..

I have to get the plucker, lawnmowers and tiller into the back lean-to and drain all the gas.. One year I had just a little gas in the riding lawn mower so I just figured I would let it run until all the gas was gone.. It idled for over an hour.. my advice ? drain it..

So sorry to hear about your aunt, FT. That is a hard situation to be in.

That costume is too much! That is how I picture you sometimes when you tell us about stuffing feathers into your, um, underthings.

Maybe you can be our mascot for next years bash. Wasn't DrH going to wear a chicken costume? Whatever happened with that? You can stand by the road & flag us all in on where to turn, since those balloons last time were so helpful.

Dippity doo days? I remember them! Wow, haven't heard of that stuff in forever. Too funny!

Good luck with the truck. DH has a Colorado & just loves it. Bought it the 1st year they came out with it ('04?). It's a 5 cylinder. Great truck.

TO, glad the duckie is doing better. I think you saw the warmest part of the day.

18 hrs ago I woke up. 2 hrs of setup, 9 hrs at work with commute, 1 more hr of setup, 2 loads of wood hauled in my toyo wagon, 3.5hrs of friends and neighbors hanging out in my backyard. 30 mins of cleanup, now I need to get up in 8 hrs to spend all morning cleaning before work.

As much work as it is, I really enjoy my jobs. BTW I have graduated from "poopy head" to "A**Hole"

The ladies loved the pumpkin I gave them, they will love it more when they wake up in the morning and it is still there.

I have 3 more whole pumpkins coming and am looking for more, cheap feed.

I have started doing research on spring wheat as well, does anyone raise some for fun or profit? Thinking about filling an old washtub with black dirt and putting a sampling of red wheat in there to try it next spring. My front garden is going to have corn and sunflowers and anything else I can feed the ladies come fall. Any thoughts for the cold northland?

I tried wheat~ but would recomend to make sure the chickens stay out of it till its done.

Cabbage and mangels are good for snacks through the winter. They can be stored a long time and given a bit at a time.

I am still in the researching stage myself.

Ken, my thoughts for the cold northland are-- grow as much as you can-anywhere you can for as long as you can

Right now I have tomato plants and lettuce growing in the house. I do have a greenhouse, so that helps as well. There is lettuce and broccoli growing in the greenhouse. We are in the process of putting in a large cold storage, so the ground is all ripped up next to the house. I have 1 large garden and we are adding another garden along with some raised beds next year.

My birds get alot of cabbage, lettuce, broccoli and chopped carrots. So needless to say I grow alot of it.

Well, I had two trick or treaters!! I was sitting her watching Dr Oz and heard a knock on the door. I forgot it was the night !!! It was the neighbors around the corner. We went to their uncles party earlier in the summer and met them all, nice family.
Anyway I told them that I didn't have any candy and that I didn't know what day they were trick or treating......... One of the boys answered "It's the 31 st !!!

Talk about feeling stupid. Plus I was feeling real uneasy because these two young men walked right past Rex, he was barking of course when they came but he wouldn't hurt a flea but didn't want him to trip them with his chain, he is so heavy.
So I stepped outside and told the kids the half truth, that Chuck is working and I was not going to be home for trick or treat but my truck broke so I didn't get candy. I didn't have the heart to tell them that I ate it all 3 days ago !!!

So in the mean time their Dad gets out of the car to probably see what is taking them so long. I said to them , see those pumpkins over there, go pick one out for yourselves, but don't tell the neighbor kids !!!
Hey those are for pies and the chickens !!!!

So next year if I decide to buy candy I will just buy maybe 10 full size candy bars and I'll still probably have leftovers !!! It is just way to far out for kids. The parents just drive them all to town.

Well, think I'm going to hit the hay too. Hope I can sleep. Gotta get that truck fixed. I'm going on a road trip Wednesday to get that India Blue Peahen and I might get the Blackshoulder Peacock too. Actually I told him to hold them both for me. They can be bred next spring !!!!

Then I have a lead on a few more hens too !!!!!!! Hey, I'm after the feathers to sell and as long as all of the rest of my animals are lawn ornaments I may as well have some pretty lawn candy too !!!

All this talk about candy is making me wish I wouldn't have eaten all that candy in two days !!!

Well, better go make DH lunch for tomorrow !!! I want my truck !!!!!!!
