Jim I'm learning the lay it on thick sand a lot thing. I've tended so far to not lay it on thick enough
roll.png
And yes the initial sanding is done, now for inspection and possible second coat of mud. In spots. Closed the door, opened the windows, covered the bed and the only dresser and got er done. Told L not to bother dusting this weekend. Got everything cleaned up except for me. Look funny in the mirror!

Oh dear, must be the time of year for respiratory issues? Bigz, I picked up the Tylan 50 at TSC, it was $10, plus a few more $ for syringes and needles. Just use the needles for drawing the syringe, pop off the needle and squirt it down the birds' throat, 1/2mL for an adult. My EE is looking pretty good after 4 days on it; I think the dose was recommended for 3 days, but she was pretty bad and i didn't want a relapse. I didn't notice raspy breathing in my flock per se, just a cough here and there until the EE got all snotty.

No, Aaron is def not fearful for his job. He's probably blown away, like the rest of us, at just how good Flynn played. I doubt he'll be content to sit at 2nd place with no guarantee of playing time. Saw a list this morning of all the great QB's that have come out of Green Bay - not a short list.

I think we have a poltergeist. The baby had fallen asleep with DH in our bed, I moved him to his crib when I climbed in at 1:30. Around 6 I wake to find myself scrunched to the edge of the bed with the baby bogarting my entire pillow. At first I thought it was my 5-yr-old, 'cause I do not remember getting up to fetch the baby last night. DH said he didn't get him either. We are not sleepwalkers either. SpOoKy.

cold out.. that wind is just bitter..

I let the geese out.. I guess being in with the dog all night convinced them that it was not instant death.. they practically crawled over her on their way out..
there were two chickens standing right under her chin, waiting for the door to open..
the 7 guineas were still "trapped".. I chased them and they flew over her head and were FREE !!!!

I had to chuckle,, someone on the OF thread was wondering if their chickens could take the sudden drop in temp that is supposed to be coming.. I wish our temps were going to "drop" to 40F..

Yesterday, my oldest sister robbed my youngest sister and brought me some creamed herring.. Now my holidays are complete..

has anybody here ever hung a Northern and skinned it like a catfish ?
I am going to try that.. I have to thaw out the Northern first..

I wish my Nephew would make sure the fish is straight when he lets it freeze.. ever try to clean a fish with it's mouth next to it's tail ??

FT. my dad used to clean fresh bullheads and get them into the pan as fast as he could.. did you ever see a fish flip in a pan on it's own ?

Our old neighbor used to catch large snapping turtles and cook them.. in the gut bucket, the heart would still be beating the next day, long after the meal was done..

Brent, in the meantime, mix up some red cayanne pepper is a little bit of feed for your wheezing chicken..
....jiminwisc......

LOL... I was going to mention the turtles but figured that would really gross out FT!
roll.png
The heads can still snap for a few days too. I pressure cook mine and make them like chicken and dumplings.

My dad had the weakest stomach in the world.. He was invited to the neighbor's for turtle soup.. Just before they went in to eat, my dad spotted the beating heart.. He went home instead.
If dad was eating at the table and you put a finger onto his plate, he was done eating.. He could not eat anything if somebody bit off of it, like a donut or candy bar..

I was always surprised that he would take a sip from a half pint, but not before thrououghly wiping off the top of the bottle until it was squeaky clean.. I guess he figured the alcohol would finish off any stray germs if he missed any..

Once he was invited to a neighbor's for fondue.. He thought that was the grossest thing he ever witnessed.. "everybody sticking their food into the same pot.."

Jim - They skin the Northern, just like the bullhead/catfish, up here too. Just remember to "go with the scales...LOL" My brother get's four nice fillets outta each pike... There is a bit of waste because he cuts around all three sets of bones and throws a lot of the belly part away. I've tried it a couple of times.... I'm getting better but not good enough to brag yet.

Some of the BEST pickled fish I've ever eaten has been pickled pike - pure white meat and all those little bones "melt/disappear during the pickling process...

Windy Afternoon All!

Not much to report here! Got the Malibu's oil changed and paid some bills. Big Fun!
DH and I were going to see Tintin but Dh decided to nap instead! That's good anyway. I really did not want to go see a movie anyway.

Tomski-I use Sweet PDZ in my coop mainly to help keep the rabbit amonia (sp) in check. I would imagine that it would work just as well for chicken manure. You won't need a to use a lot. I actually prefer Stall Dry to Sweet PDZ, but it can be harder to find in my area. I found that Stall Dry worked a little bit better over all, esp. for horses and a little went a long way. It also doubles as a great cat litter or cat littler extender! PDZ works great for the application I use it for.
For DE, can order it on line. I ordered this one from Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Diatomaceous-...5H2PY/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1325536308&sr=8-

You can also try your local hardware or plant nursery store? If you have them in your area? They might be able to special order it for you.

Oh, you all are so sassy today! Even you, Cind. I'm suprised the enjoyment you are taking in making FT squirm.

Nice assortment of eggs, Cind. One of my PRs used to lay a speckled one like that from time to time. Odd.

I think Flynn has some hard thinking to do now. He knows he can deliver now, but I hope he realizes that if he becomes the starting QB on another team, he better take a good hard look at that teams line before signing on. No QB is gonna do much if he's always running for his life. Remember Majkowski? (Yes, I'm sure I slaughtered the spelling). Good receivers, and lots of them, are another necessity. Handing off all the time can't be much fun. At least with the Pack, he's surrounded by good quality players that he knows & trusts. But I'm sure the allmighty dollar will make his mind up for him in the end.

Good luck with the new silkies, Carol, and nice looking birds.

Congrats on the hatch, H&R!

Jim, sounds like you have one great dog there. I'm glad she's good around your birds. That story about the chickens under her chin was cute! And you're right: they sure are a mountain of a dog. My sisters is huge!

Happy Anniversary, TO! I too am grateful to Charlie. You are all the best!!!!!

Bigz, if you can't find or get the Tylan, I used Duramycin with success on a raspy breather. TSC carries it.

TSC also carries DE, if you have one around. Have fun on your meet with FT. And you should try to come to our BYC bash. We'd love to meet you!

That wind sure is crazy out there today! At least the chickens don't have to worry about it. It is nice & calm in the carport, and holding at a steady 20 degrees. It's 30 in the coop. Speaking of which, if a broody was sitting on fertile eggs in this weather (in the coop), would the eggs be ok if she left the nest for maybe 40 minutes, do you think? One of my aussies has been in a nest box for 3 days, but earlier today one of the orps ousted her to lay an egg. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

ok, you guys are really freaking me out with this eat it alive sh!t !!!

Poor Poor turtles !!!
hit.gif
I've been know to stop trafic (a semi) while I was helping it across Hwy 8 towards rhinelander !! I love turtles. I don't like to touch them to much but for some reason I love them. See tons of them in the spring trying to get to their nesting grounds !!
Helped a paint turtle (put him up on top of the grass), he was walking on the curb headed for an intersection. Headed toward water or could have been going across the hwy to Descreet Pleasures (an adult store in Rhinlander)next to the river.

Tomski, we went down to the neighbors. She does want to get rid of the buffs for sure, she says they are mean, I don't think so, I think she just doesn't like to put her hand in while they are in the nest box to get eggs.
I looked at the vent of one of the barred rocks and it is laying. She thinks they are too so not sure how many of them she would want to get rid of.

When she talks to her hubby tonight she'll find out what he wants to do.
The birds all looked good.

I am so ticked, P!ssed off right now at OM !!! Ok so my coffee pot that was my mothers went ca put. I went to two Good Wills to get another one. I got an almost brand new Mr Coffee one and I set it on the stove (stupid me right, why didn't I put it where the other one was he says)
It works wonderful.

Well today, about a half hour ago he comes in here and said he put the split pea soup on the stove and accidently pushed the coffee pot which hit the burner under the coffee pot. Said there is a hole in it but it still works !!!

Ok, now I'm want to start swearing but I'll control myself !!! I said let me see. He brings me the coffee pot. Turns it over and there ain't no frickin hole. The whole bottom is melted off and you can see the whole inside !!!
Just what I need is a coffee pot that will start a fire !!! $^$^#$^$&#$ %^$%^$^$%&%#&#$^ ^&%^*&^)(*&)($%^#$@%^@#$^ ^%^&#*$#$&$^ *&%$%%$&$^ !!!!!!!!!

I am so tired of not having anything nice around here. Good thing I didn't spend the $20 on a cheap new one !!!!

G@d help me not go out there and blast him some more !!!!!
fl.gif

And to think I told him to watch out for it !!!! What a ,....................... E%%$^#$%^Q#$^%$& ^&%$^#$@^%$^#$@^ ^%@^%$^@$^@ ^%$^#$%^%$^$^$^
Wonder if I"ll cool down before our 8th aniversary which is on the 23rd !!! If we make it that long !!
