and thought I would hop on
lau.gif
to see what Doc had to say !! No Doc, he must of had one to many watching the game last night?
And Jim, where is Jim? And Tomski is MIA too ?

ETA WOW I must still be sleeping !! This did not show that Doc or Jim had posted !!!! Never updated it until I posted !!! Werid.

Jim, I can feel your frustration !! What online service are you trying to get ? I have celcom for $40 a month. It is wireless. I love it.
Doc, I think those are the pigs going to town clothes.

I joined a Pig Yahoo Group (get your minds out of the gutters) this is for PbP's (pot bellied Pigs). I learned that female pbp's that aren't spayed will develope uterine tumors and die as early at 2 yrs old. And they really do get PMS and will lung at you. And unaltered males will peep on you !!!!
Geez, time to call that vet that is going to neuter Porky and find out her opinion on things, and a price for spaying a female. That just might make my mind up for me !!! Of course the Pig is the cheep part ey !!!

Yep, one was a roo and yea, they are slow to mature. I figured out the one from that batch was a roo because one from the first batch was and I could compare him to the one I knew was a roo and the hens. He was more roo-ish. Those are considered lavenders right?

Night...again.

Nope, those are just Blues. The Lavenders are lighter gray color. What makes it confusing is the lavender color is actually called Self-Blue. That is one reason you don't want to breed Self blues (Lavenders) to your Blue Chickens. It makes it to hard to tell the difference as chicks. The Roo that I got from Jim is a splash. I could breed it to a splash Maran and get splash EE'rs. It wouldn't quite be my black and white theme but close enough !!
All these plans and not enough breeding pens !!! It will be alot easier to seperate them all when spring is here. Then I can use the nipple waterers. That will save allot of time.

ok good grief alot to read, wasn't I just here last night? maybe not?
so here is the reply back on my blue screen of death, it's good advice (I already knew to do this) so its for anyone that doesn't know to do this. it should be done every month ish to keep your computer running smoothly. AND do it before you go to bed, It takes FOR EVER to complete!
great pics
and now I gotta run DS11 hit his fingers on the floor last night and now his fingers are all swollen (yes he had ice on it last night for like 2 hours)
later
ETA what they said, what a dork am I?! lol

Amy (yes my name is Amy. lol)
The blue screen of death indicates the likelihood of problems on your end. Using this platform is taxing your systems resources. When this happened more often in the past, at work we would ask the user a series of questions, often walking them through the steps. If you wish more help than just a list of to dos then, and don't have a whiz kid at home, PM me. What I am listing is basic housekeeping for your PC using Windows. I use XP2000 so the commands reflect that, but it is a good stable system despite being old, I run FireFox as my browser and OpenOffice for my word and data processing needs. No Microsoft..
First!!! Make sure your virus program is updating daily, that the subscription data is current. If it has lapsed, you may find yourself w/ virus, bots and who knows what sharing your resources. If you get Mail Failure Daemons for mail you have never sent, it is a good indicator of problems.
Second: make sure your Firewall is enabled, keeps out the folks you don't want as guests.
Then:

If you are on a newer system, it is likely that the system does most of its own housekeeping, but that is not always enough. So

Click on <Start> <all programs> <accessories> <System tools> then one of the following:
<disk cleanup. or disk <defragmenter>
Disk Clean up scans your disk calculating how much space you will be able to free up, the files it looks at are:
Download files, Temporary Internet files, Offline web pages, recycle bin, set up log files, Temporary files and others including compress old files. Of this short list I keep my download files intact, the rest I have checked for the Disk cleanup to handle. Even w/ the fact I do regular housekeeping, I should recover about 3 Megs from doing this. Since I am compressing it will be awhile before I can look at defragging.
Disk Defragmenter tidies how your files are stored, so as many as possible are stored, contiguously (lined up in order, memory units adjacent to each other on the disk.) This can take hours, and hours if it has never been done, or if the system is more than 75% defragmented, in which case, the defragmenter will not respond and professional help is advised. My dear SIL is using that situation to justify a new computer. A couple hundred $ for the comp doc is nothing, a new computer is $1500+ usually for me. If you haven't done this before, Expect to start it up and then do something else. I tend to defrag when I go to bed and let the machine put itself to bed.
Another advantage of getting the computer serviced if it is much more than 3 years old , they can clean up your registry which is kinda like the brain stem of the machine. A clean registry allows the programs to find their places and data, and not go down dead ends wasting time. I have a simple repair program I run every few months.
Hope this helps, I suspect once you are done you will be amazed at how well things go.

Hi,

Just found this local Cheesehead forum.

I am looking for some copper marans hopefully in Central WI; Fertile eggs would be OK or even chicks. I just don't want to take the chance of having them shipped.
I have 14 guineas (pied, lavender, gray, royal purple and white) and 14 assorted chickens (buff Brahma, easter egger, silkie, and some mixed). I would like to add some marans cause I love the color of them and the eggs.
Thanks,
Terri

Good morning! Thanks for that tutorial Amy! I printed it out for future reference. DH usually does all my updating but it is nice to have another thing to go by for sure--that "just in case" scenario ya know?
Kinda gray here today...not too cold though. I guess it is supposed to get warmer and them maybe some rain! Great, then that will turn what I have into yet MORE ice for me to slip on...my body is so bruised from slipping and falling it is not even funny!
Speaking of funny...my screen will never be the same--I think I have spit coffee 3x this morning! THis gunfight stuff just cracks me up.

I am glad that you are on our team Bigfam! So what kind is that little Speedy? I love the feathered legs! It looks like an Australorpe with feathered feet. I have a couple of hens that looked just like that as babies...way cute! (they are Aussie crosses)
Guess what? I dont know if you all remember the couple of chicks I found in my coop loft a few months ago, One is red and the other is black now...I heard the black one crowing this morning! Yes, they are in the basement with the quail! I am going to move them out this week...the weatherman just said 45

tomorrow! That will be plenty warm for them to acclimate I hope.

Jim I am sorry that you are having such troubles! It will come, just have your grandkids over for a bit...if you can get them to slow down when they tell you how to use your machine you will be fine! You should be able to access your picture file by clicking on the browse button when uploading to BYC messages. Even if you dont know where the pictures are the computer should...sad I know.... About that bad credit thing...my granparents had the same problem and so did my parents. No debts and no credit cards to "prove" their credit worthiness! I only wish I had that problem....You've gotta build yourself a rating! Get a credit card and use it a few times and pay it off each month=instant credit rating! You can even pay it on line...if you still are! (sorry couldnt resist!)

Better get out and feed the critters...I feel positively rich with all this chicken food sitting in my barn! (thanks MLH!) The little bags are kind of a pain but what a deal...the birds were unsure at first but I think they have accepted the crumbles now...they have only ever had mash! Have a fantastic day everyone! My little Speedy is a black copper maran Roo. We'll see if I have any other Marans to go with him in a few weeks!

Amber I'll keep you in mind. I just hatched out Speedy, and am in the process of hatching out some other Marans. I just have to wait and see as to what I get.
