Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hey quick question: I started the classroom hatch at 2:30pm Monday. Do I count that as day 1 or Tuesday as day 1???

Just go three weeks from that Monday which would be Feb 20th. Hope they don't hatch early or they will be hatching on the weekend

That reminds me, I gave some eggs to a school in Antigo last year for the kids to hatch. The class loved them and the whole school toured the classroom. I got the chicks back and they were the friendliest chicks I've ever had.

TO what horse didyou sell. I should do that. Sell one every year to pay taxes. Oh wait, wouldn't pay the whole bill so forget it. I have to mail my taxes in today for my house in Racine.
Anyone want to buy a duplex in Racine ?
Going to switch the truck licenses to Farm use and the stock trailer too. That will save some money. Sometime soon I when I go down to Racine I'm going to be getting my Aunts minivan. It's a '99 dodge with only 75k miles but its a bit dinged up on the outside, she's backed into a few things and hit her garage with the front end !!! Oh well, can't beat free.
I need to get a new battery for it plus the last time someone drove it the brakes locked up so I need to get that taken care of. Not to mention finding money for insurance etc. So I guess free isn't always free. Just like a horse, the horse is the cheap part !!

Bf4m, you sound like me now. One road trip after another !!! My next trip will be to Mosinee to get the pig if the guy ever calls.
Going to Rhinelander today to the DMV and then to an indoor rummage place. I'm still looking for a used working microwave so I can cook for the silkies !!! Think you can find one when your looking ???
I like Astro for a name. How about Venus, Mars, Neptune? Those are the names of three lakes up here in Monico !

Good afternoon! I am home from getting the hay...it all stayed on the truck!
ya.gif
I am getting good at packing and stacking I guess...just heard the mail truck...the taxes are officially IN THE MAIL! I think they were supposed to be there yesterday though...oh well--they can come and have the house! I'm keeping the barn and the chicken coop!
Just had my LO ( Bigfam is here) My LO steak from DD20s b-day. MMMMM.
The chick transfer went of without a hitch...Bigfam did not want to stay and unload hay!
tongue.gif
So I guess I have to get out and get that done...first I am going to put some ingredients in the crockpot. One of my clients is having a hard time today (her son that was in hospital finally passed away) so I may be going to get her to come here for the afternoon and for dinner. Heck, she can come to the 4H meeting too and help keep the kids in line! LOL! OK--gotta cook...then carry and stack! Terri O--getting my work out done one bale at a time!

Was she wearing those white boots again? That girl..........*shakes her head slowly*. You'll have to invite her back over in the spring so she can see what she has to look forward to when her chickies get ahold of her yard. They're great landscapers, Bf4! You'll have all sorts of help with your garden, and your plants, and the grass, and ............, and..............

Afternoon everyone, the sun is out here, was able to open the pop doors on the coop and the chickens can go outside in the runs. Even raised the curtain on the avariy and the peas can look out and watch everything.

Have 3 holding the couch down today, DS(10) is not feeling good, DS(6) is still running a slight temperature and DH is also feeling crappy, I seem to have picked up the cough that DS(6) has... DD is still feeling good and went to school today.... be glad when this is all over!!

Bf4me- the little bantam does like to hide under the bigger chicks even the ones that are 3 months old.

Have to re-arrange the bigger chick pen- DH needs to move the flat deck trailer- go figure

so now I will be setting up a pen on the floor and will have to figure out if all the trailers can fit inside....

Well, that is good to hear, H&R. Sorry if I caused you to worry unnecessarily, Bf4.

(Not that you're home to read this anyway). I just don't like seeing first timers have so many bad experiences right out of the box that they decide to get out of it. With a little knowledge, research & good observation, owning chickens is a very joyous & rewarding experience, with the good moments far outweighing the bad. I would just like for you to find it as enjoyable as we all do, I guess.

Sorry to hear (almost) everyone is getting sick by you, H&R. I hope you don't get it too bad. Hurry up & get better, everyone! Lots of fluids, vit. C, zinc & echinechia.

I'm sure I slaughtered the spelling of that, but the spell check didn't like the herb/flower name. It tried to replace it with euthenasia! NO!

Another Nice Afternoon All..... Just took a ride to Bowler to pick up my Venzun sausage from Kropf's meats....headed home and fired up the weber and threw a new fresh ring on for tasting.....delicious as always...Suzie is gonna use most of this ring in a kettle of bean soup for the boys at church tomorrow for the monthly meeting of our minds. Dang that's good sausage!
They are having a pork special next month...halfs for 1.39 lb... extra charge for sokin hams and bacon if you want....one can also have links made with the trimmings....they have great porky links.

Forgot to mention that the Sandhill preservation catalog came last week. Getting the seed order ready to mail in....anyone want to add a pack of seeds to my order? I'll have them for the bash, just the right time for planting.

Opened the pen doors today...all the chickens are out and having a great time....it took lefty about 5 seconds to mount a hen...he's my one eyed roo that hasen't had a piece since last fall....flapped his wings and crowed up a storm! What a dude he is....

Isn't funny how the spell checker likes to get the words just right

no worries!

Have 1 cockeral who is only 1 month old and is already terriorizing the rest of the chicks- going to have to do something different as this guy is keeping everyone else away from the light. What a bully- guess they start young too!
