OK... so i think we should post our idea about the cheeseheads April foolish day hatch on the incubation/hatching thread....maybe making it the annual " Cheeseheads April Foolish Day Hatch" ....with the option of starting for or hatching for April Foo's Day....

What do you guys think?

Wow, I go to town and come home to tons of Posts . You guys are getting even with me hey ??

Went to DMV, got papes to register the traile as Farm, Got the truck as Farm and got papers to get my Aunts van transfered.

Then delivered 13 dozen eggs @ $2.00 dozen. But somehow the $26 didn't go far. Went to Aldi's spent $68. Went to Menads spent $51 !!!
Came home and a paint chick was all zipped and chirping. I helped it out because the membane was drying out. Little black one, or maybe a blue ??

Few more are zipped. Ooops Gotta submit. My puter battery is dying and I'm not near a charger. You guys lucked out.
Oh and it's up to you Bigz. You're the Boss !!!

Ps Picked up a micowave for $10 a a consignment shop. He was going to charge $20 but he was in the process of cleaning it and said if I took it like it was he would take $10. SOLD

I'll tell ya, I'm losing it. When I went to Menards I was going to use my Menards certificates. Well I realized I didn't have them with me. Well at least until I got back in the truck and looked in an envelope on the dash that had a check that I forgot to deposit at the bank along with 2 Menard certificates !!!! Geez !!!
Then to top if off as I pulled away I scrapped scrapped something, the cart I left next to the truck !!!

That's what I get for being lazy. Doesn't really matter though cause it is on the same side where OM jack knifed the horse tailer and put a big dent in the rear quarter panel !!!

I didn't see the booklet today at DMV but last year I noticed they have a booklet on how to talk to Seniors about driving and how to get them to give up their license etc. Would you believe that they were referring to people 50 YES TO 50 and older. So don't let your Children see that booklet !!!!

Got a total of 3 more chicks that hatched in the bator and are drying off. 2 black paint crosses and a white paint cross, No spots yet on the white but they could appear ! All nice and healthy with 5 toes etc. A few more are pipping. Had to leave the room cause I kept opening the bator to look at the chicks cause my recliner was to low to be able to see into from a sitting postition !!

I added a bit more water to make up for it and increase the humidity.

OM has to work in Antigo tomorrow so I told him I would chip in and do some of his chores in the morning !!!

Oh, and the reason the seller of the piglets couldn't meet up last week......... His partners younger brother was in a car accident....... I sensed it was serious... I feel so bad. Why does this kind of stuff have to happen..... Then I"m on a Pot Bellied Pig Forum and one of the posters Moms is dying of Cancer. Sometimes LIfe just plain old SUCKS !!!
TG for animals, they bring so much joy !! I'm going to go kiss my butt dog now !!!! And for those of you who are new Butt Dog is a nickname for my bischon/shitzu mix girl who's real name is Buttons. But she goes by Butts or Butt Dog !!! She's my best bud !!!

Good morning everyone,

Hope you are enjoying the spring temps early. The girls have been going outside the past few days outside of the covered coop area. Lots of foot prints everywhere. They are still giving up 7 eggs a day. I have 7 girls so am happy but running out of people to give eggs too. I am thinking about getting a few more silver laced wyandottes this year. I have one that is with the tsc hybrid birds I have. She is a bit shunned or so it seems. Debating buying an incubator or just ordering chicks. Doing chickens all winter hasn't been difficult at all. I supposed because I don't have t walk through 4 ft snow drifts. It is supposed to get up to 40 in Wausau today, Have a great day

Mmmm, hmmm........... I believe we found our chief enabler. Aren't you the one who started all this hatching business this year too, H&R??????? I seem to remember something about a "New Year's hatch" in the works. DrH, you just might be off the hook this time.

Wondered how long it take someone to remember..... yep we sure did and proud of it!!! Not my fault the rest of you can't resist fuzzy cuddle warm chicks

Who can resist cute little chickens. Hoping to get my coop craziness underway in the next few weeks but all depends on weather among other things.

Need to look at my garden catalogs and order some seeds from Johnnys as well as go to Jungs and get some of theirs. Trying more heirloom breeds this year so will see how that goes. I think I finally have the lay of the land for what works best where... just need to control those weeds. Plus my Xmas presents from DH, Kids and In laws was a nice grow light and a pop up greenhouse. It is 5x5. Anyone use one like that? Does it prefer full sun all day or would early day sun work and it would hold in the warmth? Trying to determine where to put it and when to start plants indoors and protected outdoors... so exciting. Want a successful harvest this year. Lots of tomatoes and zucchhini last year but the other things did ok and we only "lost" the carrots and beans to the woodchucks so moving those this year!

Planting anything exciting?

good morning, Yes Tom, I am getting the hang of this puter stuff,, sort of.. still a long way to go.
tried a copy and paste.. didn't work.. I have to work on my 'favorites' list.. this keyboard is still giving me fits.. my old one was centered, this one is offset to the left.. I keep putting my hands on center.. You should see the words that come out of that..

Sandi, I tried that Northern craigs list ad.. It has been flagged.. I have 2 'Barred " roosters. One I am definately going to get rid of.. the other I will use if I cannot find a better one.. He is ok looking, but a bit on the smallish side. I am in contact with a guy from Abbotsford who has a couple roos.. I am waiting for pictures.. Too far to drive sight unseen..

I got rid of my 2 extra BR roos last fall.. there was nothing wrong with either of them,, I just didn't want to feed them all winter.. Oh well, that is a chance I took.. Of course, the red rooster, which I have no use for, spent all winter outside.. Nothing wrong with that fella.. this morning I had to rescue the red hen from him.. she now is safely in with all the rest of the egg layers..

anybody want a free red rooster? I don't know how fertile he is, but it would not be for the lack of trying..

I would think that in a large pen, the quail should be able to escape from the pheasants. In many apiaries, quail are used to keep the floor cleaned up.. quail are harder on each other than other birds are on them.. give it a try.. we can always replenish any losses..

I fixed 6 pinholes in the metal water vessel with JB Weld..I filled it this morning for it's maiden voyage.... cheap fix.. better than crazy glue..

has anybody else noticed that if you misspell a word, that it gets underlined ? BUT it does not give you the correct spelling ? Unless I am missing something.. which is very possible..

Haven't even thought about our garden yet, a friend of ours brought us a bunch of seeds so we do have a start, we typically don't start plants- not enough room and time to take care of them. The kids and I have talked about trying potatoes again and maybe trying to find some blue tomatoes. We lost our beets and carrots to moles last year- they went along under ground and took bites out of each one

Interesting about keeping quail with pheasants to clean up, our 2 peas and 2 pheasants seem to do a pretty good job of clean up- every once in awhile the peas try to hog the food...
