Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I locked Nora in the lean to last night. I have to keep Prince away from her until Wednesday.
I made a deal to get her bred to a male Maremme in Arpin.. Prolly be ready this week..
I hope it takes..

.............jiminwisc.............

Oh how I would love a Nora puppy. I don't know if I'm smart enough or dedicated enough to train one. But she sure is GORGEOUS and to cross her with a Maremme just seems like the perfect combo... Good Luck in the breeding!

Runamuck I would contact BYC to see if you can get your account back. just pm a mod. heck you could "report" my post here and they will contact you! lol Here that Moderator? lol Run a muck wants their account back. lol

anywho, I gotta make sure I say good things here just incase runamuck "reports" me

ok so we had chicken last night, It was all cooked up and I was taking it off the bone, and my DS6 comes over by me and seeing what I was doing he says "poor chicken!" lol I told him it was ok, God put chickens on the earth so we could eat. lol what a kid. yes he ate it and he loved it. lol
feel free to skip this part, it's just me complaining about my mom, again.
ok so on that topic, my mother boiled the chicken
roll.png
( I like to bake it) then told me to come make the chicken salad. So I pulled it all off the bone and was looking in her cupboard for "ingredants" to put in the chicken salad. EVERYTHING I put in there she was like "your gonna put THAT in there?" good God woman! I'm like "yep". she still thinks I suck as a cook. when the fact is, I'M a better cook than she. she told my DH 15.5 years ago, ON OUR WEDDING DAY, that he was going to starve cause the woman he was marrying didn't know how to cook. LOL I moved out when I was 16 (long story) so appartently SHE didn't have time to teach ME how to cook. lol I think I was saved lol ps I learned how to cook from my mother in law
love.gif
she was ranked TOP cook in the STATE! anywho, he told her "I'm NOT worried!" she was fierious lol

I suppose I gotta go outside, EWWWW I hate the cold! Oh Mr. Sun Sun Mr. golden Sun please shine down on ME!
later all

When I was doing my search on the Livestock Guardian Dogs I choose the GP because it is suppose to be a bit less agressive. Not that they are agressive but you know what I mean.
We bought my first horse from a guy in Elroy and he had a pair of marema's. They were there to protect his goats. He ended up shooting at least one of the Maremas (I think he rehomed the other one) because it killed one of his goats. He has very expensive show goats. I remember he paid big bucks for the Marema that he got down south someplace. That's were I got the idea of getting them. Oh and the GP I think is a bit bigger which I liked.
I would take 10 GP's over a lab any day !! LOL They can be very stubborn however. Kind of like a cat. They have selective hearing sometimes !!! LOL
I saw one Saturday on our road trip. It was in a pen with goats.
Bf4m if you really like them you might want to look on www.petfinders.com and do a search. I'm sure there are rescue groups for either breed and you might be able to get a 1 or 2 yr old that needs rehoming that is trained. The pups have puppy brains in big bodies. Our female tried to play with the chickens and didn't realize her weight. Injured one of my sultans legs. An older dog would be a bit slower around them.

Just a note. The Pyrenees are know for their barking, digging and roaming !!! Trust me they do bark A LOT. Actually almost all night but we are on 80 acres in the boonies so it doesn't bother anybody but us, especially in the summer !! LOL
Pretty quiet during the day.

My mom is not doing well and cringe everytime the phone rings. Spent the last 2 days trying to get the stove going. Finally admitted de-feet and called the company. Turns out I had the thermostat wired to Honeywells diagram. Shouldn't have oughta done that. Wired it to their specs and problem solved. Dan glad you decided to join us! Fishers Hmmm HATE EM! I lost nearly half my flock to one. And worst of all the best rooster I think I'll ever have. I got Peaches [my avitar] from fordmommy. Both are forever in my heart!

Cind you can plan your trip. There is so much more but.... Maybe later.

Good snowy afternoon all!!
Not much here is going on. I've got to go muck around in the coop, but I'm dragging my feet. Nice and warm in here, the coop not so much!
Welcome and welcome back to the new and not so new!

FT- I wonder if UW has a vet that spays pigs? If might be worth a call?
Labs have a highly technical medical condition that causes labs to be well, lab-like. It's called the Goofy Gene. It's present in all types of labs. In some strains of labs the gene is naturally over come when the dog hits 2 years old, when the gene sorta recedes and they grow a brain. Some never go through this transition. The lab I walk during the week so far has been unable to over come the Goofy Gene and has yet to get her brain...I keep hoping so day I'll walk into her house and be greeted by a more mature nice young lady instead of a wild whirling dervish....I can always dream....

Raim-you crack me up!!! My mom thought she was a good cook....LOL!!!

DrH-sorry to hear about your mom not doing well...

So before I go, I thought it would be fun to post a pic or 2 of BTB. Lately his tail has been deviling him. Spends hours trying to catch the dang thing. Runs into everything and last night he finally caught it and gave it a good bite! He jumped so high when he did that. I think he got dizzy from all those circles that he forget the tail he was chasing was him own!! LOL. Here is Bubba:

The Barbarian in deep thought about how best to attach Ichabod.

Ok one more here is the Ichabod aka Icky Kitty:

Ok all done! Later gators.....

Welcome back Run-A-Muck! Hope you can visit more often. I think a lot of us on here would also like to be more self sufficient & be able to live more off the grid. I'd love to hear how it's progressing for you.

Jim, you are too funny!

Ermine......

FT, yes, they will kill your entire flock in one shot. Like I said before, nasty little creatures. I'm glad you haven't seen any around your place, and I hope you never do, but a lot of times you won't see them until it's too late. Vile, nasty creatures. Cind, you're right about having some down here. I guess someone had a pelt farm down in Burlington that was stocked with a type of European weasel, the beech or stone marten, but someone broke into it & released them all. Stupid, stupid people. While I severely dislike raising & killing animals for their pelts, I also dislike people who do not first do their research & assume their actions will have no consequences. Ok, I'll shut up now.

Cind, sorry to hear about the guinea's abcess again. I hope you can get it to clear up soon.

Apyl, has your DH actually seen it, or just his tracks? Yikes, that's scary. Fishers & martens are in the same family, but they are different species.

Doc, sorry to hear mom still isn't doing well.

Glad to hear you got the stove figured out. And I won't tell P2 what you said about his dad.

Hey, I have great news! I left all the eggs in the bator after candling them, which turned out to be a good thing. Remember I said one was questionable? Well, it's alive! I candled again last night & tossed the clears. So now I have 3 lav eggs instead of 2! Woo-hoo!!!!!

Doc, sorry to hear that your Mom isn't doing well. I know what you mean about the phone ringing ! My Auntie E (90) isn't doing well either and still lives alone. When I see my sister's number on the CID at unusual times I prepare myself for bad news.

Thought I would share this.
