Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I would take all of them... However my hubby might have other ideas!
I'd be afraid to have you guys over. You'd see an empty barn, a relatively empty pole shed, a grainary just being used to store stuff. We have a couple of empty silos and a perfectly good auger connected to it. I am having a premonition of chicken math clashing with goat math, sheep math, horse math, bunny math...

OMG, you're kidding me, right?

Can I move in? I'll help fill your barns up. FT, get to mingling those lavenders!

So Robin...you're coming to my place tomorrow and then helping to load my critters...then we are taking a road trip to Bigfams.....we will unload there and return for the rest of mine right? Then her DH and kids can go and pick up my DH and they all can go and live with your DH at your place...am I correct? T
(PS) my house needs a break! (and it's not fit to live in) Oh yeah, then Jim will pick up DrH on his way here t fix my chimney and install new plumbing....then I woke up!

No kidding,..... I thought we just covered this. ;)

TO, If I could I would LOVE to take your horses!!!!!!

The calls were out splashing the day away in the melting snow. Jim, if you would like call eggs to hatch I would be more than happy to send some your way. You would be getting a mixed bag of course since I have no way to separate them....... most likely you would end up with nothing but bibbed calls.

Had the family get together tonight for the DS Birthday. Made buttermilk pancakes this morning, baked the cake this afternoon, and had grilled brats, hot dogs and burgers for dinner. Big day for the your guy! My sis and her brood came by along with my mom and my DH's folks. The kids are still up of course...... hard to settle down once you have chocolate cake and some ice cream!

Working at the UW tomorrow....... hoping I can get some info together on the benefits of drinking raw milk so I can pass the info along to the state reps...... I hate that we cannot have the choice to drink unpasteurized milk. To me there is no difference between that and eating raw fish......

:D

God comparison BL4~! I was just talking about raw milk with my BFF this weekend...she said she just couldnt stomach it...I started drinking almond milk now cause I cant get raw any more. Something about drinking another mothers' milk that has just gotten to me....weird! T

Just went thru all the pics I could find of Dom and Barred rock chicks...my little guy looks nothing like either....HMMM?

Terri, I know mine are only half Dom, but when my chicks hatched, they looked just like Aussies. Not until they started feathering out did they start looking like Doms. Say, did you ever get that Dom hen from Carol?

I know I know, I will. It's just that I have no room at the Inn for chicks right now since I hatched out the silkies. Remember I'm way up Nort and they don't go outside as soon as all of yours do. Plus if DH doesn't get called back to work I don't need any more mouths to feed.

Just Sayin !!

So get on the stick, matchmaker, & send some of those lav orp eggs down this way and we'll take care of the feeding part.

This gal's website has a little info on the lav & blue breeding genetics. Lavs are supposed to breed lavs, not blacks, but I haven't done all that much research into it yet either.

I do know her day old lav chicks do not look like 2 of mine colorwise. But they are the cutest darn little chickies, regardless of what color they are. And I just love them!

Hello fellow cheeseheads, I hope you are all enjoying this mild winter!

I just wanted to say hi and introduce myself instead of lurking!

The WI raw milk association is holding a Raw Milk Lobby Day at the State Capitol on the 22, in support of Bill SB108, the Raw Milk Bill. I encourage everyone who supports this Bill to contact their legislators and let them know you are supportive and why. If you would like more info just follow the link:

http://www.wisrawmilkassociation.com/bill-progress-blog.html

After working at a cheese plant and having been around Dairy farms I can see how the milk can become contaminated with harmful pathogens. If proper milking procedures are in place (the farmer takes the extra step since they know their product will be consumed in an unpasteurized state) then the risk of infection is low. The whole business of contracting TB from drinking milk has never been substantiated.....

Ok getting off soap box now. :D

Black, blue are related so to speak. The Marans I got can be either blue, black, or splashes. It is possible the chickies are not really black but a dark blue. But they should still be lavender...;)

Yes, it will be interesting to see What hatches over the next few days. It is weird to have them at "school. I can't mess with them like I did last time!
