Love your pics, chikenscratch (cs).

Jim, I've been reading 3 weeks before the hen's system is cleared out. But you know how reading goes.....

Why can't I get the cursor on the other side of this smiley??????????? I remember when a few other people had that problem. Oh well. Anyways, my Dominique/australorp chicks hatched out black with a little white (kinda looked like aussie chicks), but feathered out barred. I just looked in Meyer's catalog. Both barred rocks & Dom chicks are black with white & seem to have darkish legs, so

Dan, your post to Bf4 about Jim's bators for sale almost made me douse the screen!

Jim's hen & egg comment too!

Joe & TO, sure hope you're both feeling better! I feel your pain. Been feeling poorly all day too, but mine is mostly sinus pain/pressure. Kept me trying to nap on & off for most of the afternoon, after the chicken/critter chores were done. I had the stomach issues before Easter, go figure.........

H&R, I agree it's probably a woodchuck plaguing you. Any veggie you really, really like to grow in your garden should lure it. That is always the 1st thing they go for: your favs.

Finally she found someone else to spar with.

TO, congrats to your DH on being the big winner in the weight loss! Personally, I didn't think you stood a chance.

Where did you think you could have lost it from, Ms. skinny mini?

Everyone was sure chatty here today. Glad mostly everyone is doing good & had a nice holiday. We had to go to the SILs and by my mom. Easter dinner twice in one day. Can you say indigestion?????? I'm amazed my stomach isn't hurting too. But it was wonderful to see everyone, eat lots & have great fun. Too bad it goes by so fast.

Better feed these ravenous cats & get to bed. Sweet dreams, all!

Hi All!

TO and Jim....Sorry about your guineas. I keep waiting for my hens to fallow those males and not come back! So far they have been good and I've been lucky! Hope I didn't jinx it!

Are there any kind of "meatie" that is ready in like 12 weeks?

I candled eggs last night! I saw some little eyes looking back!
ya.gif
A couple for sure were no good but some were hard to tell. Does anyone have trouble seeing in blue eggs? I could see the dark mass and the air pocket but that's all.

If Storky kept the "kids" extra warm I may have hatching today! I even gave her a small heat lamp for last night because it was suppose to get cold. OK, now I'm turning into an expecting momma! I'm sure for the next few days I'll be visiting Storky allot! She's taken to being petted well, she just mumbles a little but doesn't seem to get upset or try to peck. Hopefully she'll be good about letting me handle the chicks.

Night All!

***TO.... If you want to loose more weight...I'll give you as much of mine as you want! You can loose as much of it as you want!
BTW... if anyone one has any upper teeth they want to get rid of... I could use some!

CC I agree she must have cut off an appendage to lose 6lbs. Congrats on all the hatchlings and sorry for the losses! BL4 it is very hard to get into vet school DD tried to get into a couple closer to home but no openings. Feel so sorry for her having to be as far away as she is. The guy I get my straw from raises meaties every year for friends and fam so I got in on that. Otherwise I'd be building something to raise them myself. Things to do better get to it!

DrH, you are preaching to the Choir. Been there, done that. My problem was I could not move far away. Too difficult to uproot a family.

Ugh, I bit the side of my cheek and now I keep biting it!

Doing Easter at the in-laws this weekend. I hope the SIL can behave herself.

Making soap today, I need to decide what kinds I am going to make!

Time to move, later all!

Good morning folks,,,,hiya to the newbies

no kilts in the north woods today(shrinkage factor),,,high of 38 and windy,,,,,,again

no hens laying eggs 3 times either, they pucker pretty darn fast in this cold breeze

Jim, about an hour depending on where that rooster is over there. I'll call ya later

I'm doing my first meat birds this year, have a restaurant I will be supplying, so there will be some stinkies involved, but I am also doing some Freedom Rangers early if they present well and work for me then might switch to just those for the rest of the season. For those interested in them Abendroth's sells them get the eggs direct from the folks in PA, support WI hatchery's if you can.

Dust bath box in the grow out pens?

anyone have Buckeye's? wondering about the egg production,,also Chanticlers

good morning, this will be short and sweet. I grabbed a rotten egg and have some of it on my fingers.. 17 out of 22 hatched.. the 17th is still zipping..

just transferred 58 eggs to the hatcher.. 6 turkey, 17 quail, the rest dels and bafocks..

can't take the smell anymore .. gotta go wash my hands..

Ok, I've been slacking in my reading here & am a few pages behind, but I am not really in Mukwonago. I'm close, in the town of Vernon, but if you'd like to talk chicken or see my setup, bj, you are more than welcome. Just send me a PM. And

bj! I hope you like it here!

I'm in big bend, where chickens are not allowed and I set up a coop and have 3 girls. I used to have ducks, but they got harvested. Too messy for my small coop. No one complains about them, and I thought one of our neighbors would. I built the coop on the side of the house with the friendly neighbor. I say go for it. You'll never know until you try!!!
