DrH... I'll let DS2 know that won't work. Dang... I planed on going to Delavan tomorrow too if DS3 gets the van put back together! WE WILL GET IT! One way or another!

Jim... I just got bad news about that BR roo I was trying to get for you...Apparently the lady got some "bad feed" and wound up killing all her chickens.

I am new to this forum and when researching how to find a processor, I was directed to find my fellow Wisconsinites. Does anyone know any public or private processors near Eau Claire, WI? I have 10 meaties that will be ready in 6-7 weeks and about 8 more birds in the fall. Let me know if you know anyone,
Thanks!!

I'm about an hour and a half south of you and just took almost 60 birds in for processing a couple of weeks ago to some amish people. Is that a possibility for you as well?

Hi all--back from work at last....nw I have to prepare for the 4H meeting tonight...but first I must make a place for these ducklings and goslings. They cannot be in my LR--way too dirty...besides I will be getting some quail soon (right MLH?) that will need the TV! I think I am going to put them right outside with a heat lamp. Of course I never got my freezer outside remade into a brooder...I sure could use it now!
Brought in some more eggs for the hatching bator this morning. (and another duckling) There are so many eggs in there that they dont even wiggle! I sure hope that SOME hatch!

Well, lots to do before 6:30--I better get at it!

Early Evening All... I went out in the woods today to harvest some wild leeks. I know you guys are familiar with them...just a reminder that they are ready and real plentiful.....suzie added a bunch to the omlets tonight. Wanna smell my breath? They make delicious leek soup!

The peeps are happy as can be....sure is fun to watch the newbies act like adults already.

well we just got back from pre-k orientation presentation. Kinda bitter sweet, I'm not sure I am really willing to let my little princess grow up! She was so excited to see the classroom and all of the other littles!

We had wild turkey tonight for dinner, DGF did a nice job on it and it tasted pretty good job on it and we will be eating a lot of turkey for awhile!

I should be getting about 200' of chainlink fence tomorrow so I can start my flight pen in the back of my barn. I am trading so incubating duties for fence! My DGF is now trying to enable again and wondering if I would ask my friend if we could keep 2 ducks! I talked her out of it for now telling her we could get a couple meat goats, what is a banded male goat called? I have an alterior motive though with goats, I would like them to clean some of the underbrush on my hillside!

Welcome to all the new people and this is your fair warning, watchout for the enablers on here, if you let them they will feed you chicken drugs among other poultry drugs that are all highly addictive!

NFL draft is flying...am I the only one watching it?

Well speaking of bad feed.....Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, I went to Marion on Tuesday to get feed and corn, for chickens, chicks, and horses, well today I was mixing up a batch of what I feed the chickens which consists of 2 scoop layer crumbles, 2 scoops layer mash and 1 scoop cracked corn, well I have been seeing some smooched together chunks of corn, I'm thinking its moldy? well not even tonight the chuck had toes, mouse toes......I'm pretty cranky about it, I know mice like feed corn, and the mills are full of them, but I have bought cracked corn for years now and never found an animal foot well the whole leg actually in my feed........... Should I complain or just say yah it happens, mostly just worried my chickens will get sick? can that make them sick? argggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhh. Kim

H&R that was on facebook. I have it up on my wall there.

Getting the final touches on all the Prom details. DS had his haircut today, and my stylist (who teaches at a local beauty school), decided he also needed a little wax job on the eyebrows! She totally caught him off guard, told him to shut his eyes and attacked him! LOL! He is really being a good sport about the whole thing too...... I gave her extra on her tip for her trouble.

We were scouting photography locations today... here is an old quarry we found hidden in town....

The signs say it is only 30 feet deep, it is absolutely beautiful back there!

Not much else to say..... pretty uneventful day (thank goodness).

I've never heard of wild leeks before. Can you take a pic or post a link to some info on how to find them?
