What do wild leeks look like? Can u get a pic? The link posted early did not work for me.

Sorry about that. The article is actually about growing a perennial vegetable garden and only mentions wild leeks in a small blurb. When all else fails, I like to turn to Wikipedia: HTH.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allium_tricoccum

Allium tricoccum – known as the ramp, spring onion, ramson, wild leek, wood leek, and wild garlic – is an early spring vegetable, a perennial wild onion with a strong garlic-like odor and a pronounced onion flavor. Ramps are found across North America, from the U.S. state of South Carolina to Canada. They are popular in the cuisines of the rural upland South and in the Canadian province of Quebec. Ramps also have a growing popularity in upscale restaurants throughout North America.

The ramp has broad, smooth, light green leaves, often with deep purple or burgundy tints on the lower stems, and a scallion-like stalk and bulb. Both the white lower leaf stalks and the broad green leaves are edible. The flower stalk appears after the leaves have died back, unlike the similar Allium ursinum, in which leaves and flowers can be seen at the same time. Ramps grow in groups strongly rooted just beneath the surface of the soil.

Hi...time for me to post some cuteness!

Storky and the kids ... they're about 2 weeks old already! Sorry about the red light!

A small outing...

The only "chipmunk" out of that hatch...

Here's the ones just hatched!

Another Pic....

And Jasmine in her hiding spot! It's at most 4" high! I got her to move enough to count 10 eggs, there may be a couple more. All from the "smaller hens" go figure... no Cochin eggs!

OK... don't want cuteness overload first thing in the morning! LOL

Good morning--Cind thanks for that link to "All Wisconsin" or whatever it is named. I subscribed (just what I need--MORE to read) So this morning when I came down at 5:30 there was a curious yellow substance all over the very clean counter. The cats spilled my olive oil AGAIN!!! I was so ticked.
So good news about the morels. I guess I will be heading down to the oak tree to see if I can find any. I dont think we have any ramps growing here...I would like to find some though. Last year I found those really big hopefully they spored and I will have LOTS! LOL--just wishful thinking on my part.
I listened to the incubator this morning and I still heard peeping...I heard it last night too but there doesnt seem to be any progress yet. So frustrating to know there is a baby in there somewhere and it cant come out! Sounds like the fodder for nightmares to me!

Well. I better get out and get that fence off of my truck so I can go and get some hay...I had my neighbor bring some emergency hay to me last night cause I was OUT! DD20 is coming home tonight so she will have to help unload! I have to find a good tarp cause I think it is supposed to rain later (maybe not--but who knows) there was frost of the roofs this morning...temp went up quick though.
I hear that Dooner is meeting up with WiChCh sometime soon....I messaged him and told him to come to the bash!

Have a fantastic day everyone! Terri O
