Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good afternoon--lost one of my little yellow chicks with fuzzy legs...not sure what it was. I am thinking it was some kind of marans. I cant think what else I would have had in there that has feathered legs...Jim I thought I wrote it down too, the next batch will be better...but I am not sure when I set that bunch! Cripes, I cant even keep track of two LITTLE incubators!

So the woman that got chicks from me has one that is lame today...I told her to just bring it back and I would trade it for a new one. I think the kids may have been a little overzealous with handling the babies? Not worth arguing about...speaking of; what is the going rate for day old chicks? THese are ausies and blue ameraucanas.

BigFam--you just keep you hands OFF of Cartman...he is MINE for the weekend! There, now you guys can quit your bickering!

OK gotta checkout the bator again...I had more humidity problems....Terri O

Mmmuuwhahahahahaha ... I'm the baby boy whisperer... The pied piper of little boys... I'd be the evil witch in the woods luring the the boys to my candy cottage... Oh wait... That was BIG boys for a different reason... ;)

Morning all! Crazy already today for sure...a ton of phone calls before 9AM! Dont folks know that on Monday I catch up with stuff and relish the quietness of my house? THe nerve! LOL!
SO now it is time for me to head out and I just finished reading on here...oh well...TOmmy and Tina have had an egg hatch! It is the cutest little beast! It was glued in the egg though so a foot is turned funny. I think I will stick the toes down on a little "shoe" and see if they can be straightened out. I will take a pic later.
H&R or Carol--any youngish (6 months or so) birds you want to dispose of? I have a Hmong family from Milwaukee that is looking for some young birds. AllI have in the young bunch are days old! Still a bit small....let me know if you have a line on any.

I took this pick the other day of MXN's daughter holding a chick. I'll let her post the one of Cloe's face if she wants...she is one adorable little girl with the personality to match!

And I just had to take a pic of my fish dinner from Friday...

This is what we like to call "the original white meal" but man was it ever good! OK--gotta run...have a fantastic day...the sun looks like it is trying hard to come out...good thing, the neighbors are going to start to wonder just how many "rinses" my laundry needs!

our birds are 12-16 weeks old but not sure what we will have available.

Another avid reader right here!!!

BBP: This will sound funny but YOU MAKE THE CUTEST BABIES!!!! lol That is adorable!!! What cross are the lil white and black bantys you have (Angel and..?)? That was a silkie/cochin and (something) wasnt it?

Angel and the unnamed black one were a product of the silkie/bantam cochin rooster and a cochin hen. I wish I would have bred him with the turken before I gave her away. The silkie babies are so cute with their huge eyes. Even though my 3 silkie mutts were accidents I'm keeping them. They are so cute.
Now I'm on the hunt for some goat kids. I need them to keep the brush down in my woods. And I miss my goats really bad!

GR65-for the life of me I had a brain fade and could not remember what a BSL was! Then I saw your photos and remembered! I love your Speckled Sussex....Makes me miss mine and want some!

Ang-I have the Kindle of PC....gets me into no end of trouble. The app is a free down load to your PC so eventually when I get my Kindle I'll already have a library going. I also found out that some of my ebooks I can loan! That is sooooo cool! I've been eye balling the Fire longingly but I think I will get the Kindle Touch. I cannot believe how cheap Kindles have become! I remember when the Kindle first came out is was almost $400 bucks!

TO-I think you could sell those chicks for $2.50/$3.00 easy....

Well, I did a thing...bad thing?...good thing?....a thing thing?....I sold off the majority of my flock. Stuck an add on CL and it was gone in less then 30 mins....The nice lady came today and collected the Girls. She has an egg business and cannot keep up with demand. Anyway, the good thing is the Girls will be free ranging chickens, that have two roosters and a small forest to run around in! They will be so happy. They have a coop for sleeping and run of her property during the day. Part of me is sad to see some of them go but the other part is happy that I got rid of all of the "odds and ends" chickens that are all seminar left overs and such! So I am down to 5 hens. The RO's, Valerie, Midge, and Super Glue. Oh and Ben, Buzzy, and the meaties. I had to many chickerdoodles (32) in the coop. So I sold off about 20 chicken bodies....The coop looks bare!
The 6 meaties are getting processed I think this weekend so those will be gone. Then I can clean it out really well and level the dirt floor and but stall mats down. Then I'm planning to make rabbit runs so the heard does and bucks can be on the ground since they are rather heavy and I'm worried that they will develop Sore Hocks. They will still have to share the coop with the chickens in the winter though.

Well, DH is home! Best get dinner going!

Wonderful! Feel free to chime in and/or ask questions any time. If noone has an answer for you, we will try our darndest to at least try to point you in the right direction.

So do you have any chickies yet? Or are you in the research & development stage?

Also, we do have a get together every year to meet up & chat even more. We'd love if you could join us. It is coming up quick on May 18th to the 20th, with the "big" event being on Saturday with lots of food, fun & laughs.

Speaking of the bash, does anyone have any food allergies we should be aware of?

I was thinking that if anyone was allergic to something, and someone else was bringing something that had it in their dish, maybe they could put a piece of tape/note on it saying it had "x" in it?

I know TerriO can't have gluten & DrH's L can't have anything that ends in "berry". I have to avoid pineapple, shrimp & artichokes.

Terri, I'll be making my pasta salad with gluten-free noodles this time.

I'll post this on the bash thread too.
