after a lifetime of semi-professional drinking (WI style) it was proven 10 years ago that I was allergic to alcohol

LOL--thanks for doing the welcoming thing CC...I will hand the job over to you! HAHA--not that it was MY job but, well, you know....I have chicken in the oven and it is starting to smell really delicious! I just roasted it with my usuall choice of seasonings and herbs. Mashed and gravy, corn on the cob and broccoli to round it out (and make it not so white!) Sure wish I had a bottle of wine...

The peole came to change the chick out. Looks like it might have a weird part on it's vent. There is a little thing there but it's not poo. We will see. The little cochin baby looks like the foot is turning right without my help. I held it in place for a bit last night...maybe that did it? Or maybe just keeping up with the rest of them...they arent ready to go downstairs yet so I am not sure where I will put the quail from MLH tomorrow. Maybe I will grown a new room on my house overnight? (Wouldnt that be cool?)

There was something else I was going to say but cant remember now...oh well...I think I will have a cocktail! LOL--Later--Terri O


ETA: I had never heard of that Dan, being allergic to alcohol, but the lady that bought my chicks is also allergic to it! How did you find out? Sheesh, I hope that's not my problem! I love those cherries that BL4 brings to the bash! Well, and other varieties of alcohol too.

hmmm,,,it's a long story TO,,,a few symptoms:

finding that you actually are talking "smarter" than normal after a couple

nodding out while in the company of others only to find out that they were all nodded out first

ALL the girls look purtier at closing time

no matter what, come "Miller Time" the system shuts down for a "few"

the list goes on,,,but you get the idea

I will say this,,,,to my knowledge I never drank with a chicken

The regular old kindle, not the fire, but we like the plain old one with text to voice... is at Walmart for $80 but with a $30 gift card to walmart so like getting it for $50.

Im still in planning/building phase, I've done a ton of research, and am just about ready, but i want to get the coop built and brooder setup first. Im starting work on the coop this weekend, and hope to have it finished in a couple of weeks. Being in wisconsin, I think i've decided on some barred plymouth rocks, and rhode island reds as cold hardy birds for the winter months, does that sound about right? Looking to get a decent supply of eggs from a flock of about 6 - 8 hens i think. The Coop im going to build should house about 10 incase i want to get a couple more down the road. One worry i do have, is ordering day old chicks. I've been looking around the internet trying to find a local place to buy chicks for these breeds, and haven't been able to come up with anything. I would much rather go pickup my chicks and take them myself straight to my brooder, instead of having them shipped, as i've heard that some die during shipping due to the stress. So if anyone can't point me in a direction to look for buying chicks in the sheboygan/plymouth area, or nearby, that would be awesome!

I took a look at the link for this years gathering.. looks like fun, is it more of camping type thing for a few days? or do people get hotel rooms or something?

To whoever asked earlier....can't remember who......I am planning on going to the Galesville show. It will be my first ever EVER poultry show and boy I feel stupid!! I don't even know how to fill out the entry form exactly. So much to learn! Tentatively planning on bringing my two cock birds - barred rock and white chantecler, possibly a white chantecler hen and pullet, and if the stars lineup right maybe a silkie. I have to get appropriate leg bands, pullorum tests, and individual cages for travel. I am excited to try this though! Gotta start somewhere....

I am sort of looking for a couple Columbian Cochin bantam chicks...anyone know of any? Can bring me 2 or 3 to the bash? Along with the muscovy ducklings from TO?? (are they here yet TO?)

So who else is going to Galesville on June 2?

I have the regular wifi Kindle also. I love it, I think I have about 100 or so books on it so far. Now if I could just find my cord I could charge it and download more books.

Gneta-I showed chickens for years. If you have questions just pm me. Galesville is to far for me, but I wish you luck! Chicken shows are tons of fun and the people there are so very nice. Plan on getting there early at coop in so you can check in and find the spot where your birds are supposed to go. Let them know this is your first time so you might have questions or need a little guidance to where to go to place your birds. Once your birds are settled, sit back and enjoy!
Also bring cash, you never know what you might want to buy. I usually a lot of small bills for food and the raffle....

So anyway, DH and I were driving home from dinner when he pointed to a field and said "Look Honey! There are your turkeys!" I looked and thought "What turkeys? There are no turkeys? I just see a few....." and just before I could finish my though DH said "Oh never mind! Those are bushes! I thought they were moving rather slow to be turkeys!" *sigh*
Good thing I made an eye doctor appointment for him this month

I think all of the new phone chargers work to charge them and if you have a new fancy phone like a droid you can unplug it from the plug in and use the data cable!
