Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Internal pipping is the first breakthrough in the aircell membrane. If you shine a light sideways into the egg, you can see the smooth line of the cell and suddenly a shadow will break the line. You can watch the chick breathe, it is pretty cool! Amyable's friend Julie called it a egg ultrasound!

Going to check the eggs so BRB....

Still no external pips.

Off to work I go! Have a great day everyone!

good morning, Nora was barking at dawn again today.. I wonder if there is something out there or she is just greeting the new day..

CC, I had reservations about the horse story.. I kind of figured you would pick on me again..

I have to figure out which chicks to give to Brian's brother.. I will give him the 3 for sure ones and then fill in with by guesses and by goshes.. he will be so happy that he had a 100% hatch , and it will be weeks before he realizes he has some Delawares.. I will call Brian to see if I should put a couple black ones in, too..

I had to buy 2 more one quart waterers yesterday.. I thought I had all the chicken equipment I needed.. but Annie snagged two of them for her cockatiels..

OK, all coffeed up.. time to do the things that I can't put off any longer..

on your hatch Bl4. Jim don't forget to wash your hatchmaster tutu for the Bash! Found something in the garage for the white elephant thingy. Think Bigz will be stealin it! hehehe. Garden is lookin real good! Think Freckles is headed for freezer camp but everyone goes in the coop at night now. We'll see. The 4 Flycatchers left the nest yesterday, I got to watch. The iris are starting to bloom too. Got a little wood made learned years ago to start out slow. Think I'm gonna throw my junk in the Jeep and do a little trout fishin this morning.

Morning All!
Not much going on. The critters are all cared for and the chickens and bunnies got some left over bread for treats this morning. Got the last of the tomatoes in the garden last night. I have yet to stake or cage them yet though. I am going to try that string thing the Unk talked about with my container tomatoes. I have the strings all ready and hooked up so we will see how that pans out.

Have to start planning on why kind of cupcakes to bring and get the white elephant gift wrapped.

Big Fam-Hope the kiddo is ok.

FT- Geesh! I'll be amazed if she can give away some of them. Halter broke studs and possibly pregnant unbroke and skittish mini mares....Then people wonder why they can't even give them away....You can get a lot nicer horses for that same money or free if you look a bit...Just look at what TO got for only $200! I feel very sorry for those poor creatures.

GR65-Super cute fuzz butts!! Love the one with the cheeks!!

Apyl-Adorable duck!!

MJ- *squeals*OMG!!! Holy Moly! Those goaties are adorable!! I have to say that even I would have trouble in the fall with processing them....My goats were well past that cute baby stage by the time I got them so it was easier plus they were obnoxious....Bob and Tom!! Love the names!!

DrH you reminded me about the white elephant thing, I better go find it! lol

I would bring a big pot of BBQ if theres left overs it can always be frozen.
I put so much ink on the combs (tshirts) that they're still tacky lol
I have so much to do today and tomorrow it's pit a ful (that don't look right? I tried)
off and running

I was so sad when I got rid of my last goats. They went to a great home but I cried a lot. They were my babies. I could never butcher one. It would be like eating my dog. These 2 are so sweet. I'm really happy to have them. I payed much more than I wanted, but they were over 2 weeks old when I got them so I rationalized the higher price. They're starting to nibble so they'll have to be locked up soon. They are having a blast climbing on everything and running up and down the driveway. Their favorite thing to climb on is a half full bag of wood shavings. We'll work on walking on a leash soon. Thats always fun the first time.
