I had someone that was supposed to pick up call ducks not show today too. I didn't try to call or email. They're not hard to find homes for so their loss.

Is Crockpot young? Maybe it is she just hasn't got the hang of it yet? Just guessing. I am no expert at these matters though. Is she an Ameraucana? My Ameraucana's are goofier than all get out!!!MY "GIRLS" GAVE ME A BIRTHDAY GIFT!
4 hens, 4 eggs with no "misfires" and nobody attacked any of the eggs!!!
Only thing is now one of them is definitely laying her eggs near the "human" door instead of the nest boxes!I can tell by the egg that its the hen I call "crockpot". She's the one that is always underfoot and loves to be picked up and paid attention to and was also the one that just got over acting ill and had the "misfire" (soft/no shell) problem so I'm thinking that it might have something to do with her getting extra attention when she wasn't feeling well???? Anyone have any imput on this?![]()
Thank you for the Birthday wishes! I wish Crockpot was a bit younger but all my birds were supposed to be 18 mo. old when I got them (my guess is one is more like 24 tho). That's what has me a bit puzzled too. She was laying in the boxes just fine until she had a little bout of something for a couple days this past week.Is Crockpot young? It is funny how people miss appointments to buy livestock. Yet flock to the swaps to get the scraps. I guess they would rather save a penny than buy a quality well cared for animal.
I finally have an appointment with someone tomorrow for a silkie pair. We were just both really busy last week.
Apyl was dinner tough at all? The first one I ate was a bit tough. But I cooked it at the temperature I would a store bought chicken and that didn't seem to work to well. Then I read someplace it is best to let it set a while so the rigor gets out of it. Then I put it in salt water for a day after butcher and cooked at about 200*. I think the taste is so much better than store bought chicken. Now I think store bought chicken tastes rotten. Silkies are especially good meat. I dont eat chicken very much at all now because I am getting worse at killing them.
TO that frog is sooo darn cute!!!!!! I almost stepped on a lil' froggy in the dark the other night. Glad I didn't. Him and my mod game hen that hangs around the porch were seranading each other in th dark. I could hardly tell which was which.
It's hard to say but I just a thought. Maybe she doesn't have any control and is just dropping them and happens to be by the human door? Especially if she is just getting over her misfires.MY "GIRLS" GAVE ME A BIRTHDAY GIFT!

ok wildlife experts... need your thoughts. We have noticed that every night one of the 5 birdfeeders attached to a pole just outside the back door is knocked down every night. We were thinking deer or coon... but got these pics- huge cat? coon? woodchuck? porcupine? not sure... Notice the fuzzy lump in bottom left of bright pic. It is not there ( and nothing is still outside) in that corner so I am guessing that is our fiend... this is why I said porcupine...
