Good Moprning All! Well sort of. Youngest DD came over looks like I won't be having a new son-in-law. Poor kid is really torn up!

OK finally caught up with reading.. comments, yes, no,, maybe,, we'll see,

I was at the swap from 10:30 to way past four PM.. I talked to Dan and Sandi a long time sitting at the umbrella table.. No Vickie.. we asked every woman within ear shot if her name was Vickie.. There was one, but she was Wave's GD..

We had a fox grab a guinea right next to the yard while I was at the swap.. Of course, Annie had the dogs inside the house.. I hope that now she will leave the dogs outside.. she said that all 13 of the geese came running up onto the deck, even the baby one made it up four steps..

we were missing one of the peahens for a few days.. Annie found her in the middle of one of the thick raspberry patches on a nest.. I told her if she leaves the dogs outside, the peahen will prolly be OK...

some people came to look at the last puppy today.. from wisc rapids.. said that they might come back.. have to make up their minds between our pup and a border collie.. I don't expect to see them come back..

had a good ho-made ice cream cone in Elcho..

what kind of bags are y'awl collecting ? I have been tossing those plastic ones away.. Sort of a shame, but I don't have any use for them.. I will save them if those are the kind you are talking about..Cut down and turned inside out they could make a handy tote..
If you have a sewing machine, you could hem the top and slide a dowel in and make a handle.
and then slit down each end, you could even carry firewood with one..

I got there around 10ish and left just before noon. I saw a group sitting at the table. I was standing chatting with the ladies running the food. In fact it must have been you guys that finally got up when the wind picked up and I sat down. Boy, I must have chatted with everyone but you! Come to think of it I don't think I mentioned my name to anyone. I did tell Wave I was the one chatting about the meet on BYC (she might remember) because I was standing there when she yelled at someone she knew arrived for telling folks the swap was last Wednesday

I was the old woman (but not too old!) with short hair wearing the the light blue denim shirt with appliques of sunflowers over the pocket and a large garden girl on the other side. (I know, guys never notice clothes) Sorry we didn't meet.

I'm looking for the plastic ones with pretty pictures, colors like the Purina bags, Nutrina bags to make totes out of. Although I buy both brands, I just don't go thru them that fast with only 4 hens.

So sorry about your raid. Frustrating! Hope your peahen will be ok.

Drhaha~so sorry about your DD. You can really feel so helpless at times like that. You want to make their pain go away like when they we little but you just can't. (been there~it actually does get better

)

BF4~I WON'T MENTION that we got a little less than 1" during the night, the chickens are having fun playing in a puddle (silly chickens) and our rain barrels are so full hubby is outside right now dumping them because there is more on the way BUT I am trying really hard to be sensitive so I won't mention any of that, ok????

yup just about 3/4" rain last night, got home from the swap in time to get my tractor back over here, and the buckwheat planted for soil building in the resting 1/3rd of the garden

speaking of which,,,,geeze vicki didn't you hear us asking all those gals IF their name was vicki!,,,Jim had one of his white pups on a leash, think that mighta been sign enough we were the 2 old farts from cheeseheads

did meet FT for the first time, she got a heck of a deal on a leaky water tank

that is a nice small laidback meet for sure, next year I hope to bring some critters along

need to put in a few hours in the gh today stringing the maters and working on the beds

bbl, need to find breakfast

FT ~ was that you with your daughter? I talked with a very nice lady and her daughter who had parked right next to me. The daughter tried to enlist my help to talk mom out stuffing a watering tank into the trunk of her litttle car

Good morning everyone. I tried to look online for how much rain we got but can't find it. All I know is we got hammered and the driveway is half flooded. The ducks are loving it I must have a tiny garden compaired to everyone, I water every night with no issues lol But then again it is only like 30 x 30 and within hose reach of the house
In chicken news, we butchered 3 roosters and boy is the flock calmer. We have 3 more to do that DH want done before next weekend. I dont remember if I said but I did get rid of my 4 extra Silkie roosters as well. Shifu still isnt hanging out with the ducks, but does go by them every now and again. Mosty He ( yes all this time I have been calling him a her and I'm pretty confident that she is now a he lol ), most he sits underneath our living room window. The flock is 17 weeks old now, so hopefully in the next few weeks I will start seeing eggs. I'm crossing my fingers they actually lay in the coop and now out in the brush somewhere. Oh and the baby chicks are now 2 weeks old. The 3 surviving chicks are doing great and one of the females is already growing a comb, go figure.
I guess thats about it. I hope everyone has a good day.

I'm sorry Dr.H about your DD. Good luck.

Oh and thats a cool tutorial. I may have to try that one this bag is empty. Normally I throw them away but I'm all for re-purposing.

Morning all!!
Just caught up on all the posts I missed! Hope all the Dad's here had a nice Father's Day.

DH wanted to go to the Good Will store yesterday, and I found a couch I really liked. The current couch had seem better days and I was thinking that it's time to start looking for a replacement.
So, we came home and measured our current couch and the door to make sure we could get it in the door. Needless to say it would fit so we took the truck back to GW and I got the couch! So we have a barely used new couch! It is blue, green and burgundy plaid and the dogs like it. It's very comfy, super clean, and looks brand spanking new! I got a total steal! Cost me $35.
I never buy a new couch since we have all the dogs we have.

Other then that DH went to see Promethesis (sp?) and he liked it.

The critters are all good and BTB is attacking the dogs right and left. Ely just put him in his place since BTB was trying to hunt rabbit and now Ely is on Bubba's list. Buddy just walked by and BTB attached him too. Now BTB is running around and smacking Ely and darting off. Now BTB is after the fan strings again.....That Cat drives me nuts sometimes....

Well, best be off, need to do some more chores

Good morning all...I must have slept poorly again last night...we have to keep the bedroom door closed so the cats stay out and it is HOT in there even with the fan going. GUess I'd better get my screen in the window! The rest of the house is super cool because of the attic fan...darn cats!
That was an excellent tutorial about the bags! I am definitely going to make some. I guess I thought it was more involved than that! The bags I have are from DeLong for pigeon food and are not that great looking (blue, orange and mostly white) but I figure that they are bigger than my current shopping bags so what the heck? I like you idea of fashioning them to carry in wood too Jim. I am going to use that idea for a sling to weigh baby lambs and kids. Never thought to use bags for the sling...yeah, thanks for another project!

At least it is a useful project...not like the paper chicken coop I made last year...remember that? It sure was cute! Saw a pic of it the other day....

So I have gotten 5 emails about my ducklings and goslings so far...we will see if anyone comes. There is one man from IL that is coming to get semi-adult geese. Apparently his daughter's 4H birds were stolen? They came home from a weekend away and the barn was open and all the turkeys, ducks and geese were gone! Told him I would give him a deal.

I have to take a man to a neurologist in Madison today. I sure hope that the doc can fix him!
Watch the heat today peeps! My DD said 96?!

And it is already pretty humid here...the wind is the saving grace I guess. Better get outside and get the birds out and watered! Have a great one!

I am back.. one puppy less.. Iola is where the puppy is going.. these people live almost adjacent to the car show.. the man was not 100% sure about getting a dog, until she handed the pup to him to hold.. He never put it down after that..

It did sprinkle a bit here this morning.. the sun pops out every so often.. I will be going down to the garden in a bit.. Annie just notified me that it is thundering a little.. maybe I will just skip the tilling and toss the buckwheat seeds down..

had fresh strawberry shortcake for breakfast.. sort of a tradition at this time of year....

Holy hottness!!!!

Lazy bum here, I did not get out of bed until 8:30!!!! Dr.H I think YOU need to give ME the wake-up calls!

Let the ducks out this morning and counted 8 fuzzy babies..... one perished during the night.

I have no idea what happened, but I found it laying on its back????? Perhaps it got stuck and that did it????

I think BigFam ended up with some rain last night. It looked like they were going to get some last time I checked the radar. DrH I am so sorry about your DD's situation. Like they say you gotta kiss a few frogs before you find your prince.... what the heck was he doing proposing if he was not sure in the first place???

Went out to the in-laws last night and grilled for my FIL. Kids and dogs had a blast running around, I have two very worn out dogs who have done nothing but get up and potty and then eat. Rest of the time has been spent sleeping. Right now the Boxer/Lab is having a dream; her little feet are clicking away on the floor like she is running..... she and the Terrier had a good time chipmunk hunting with my oldest DS.

Took my FIL some of that yummy New Glarus beer; I thought the Spotted Cow was a good first try, gave my DH the Totally Naked..

Off to the beach today with FM. She says hello to everyone and misses the chit-chat! She is on FB though so if you really want to contact here, I would find her there....

I forgot one other thing..... those bags are sweet! I think it would not matter what they look like as long as they are functional. I would take them to use as grocery bags. The cloth ones from the store wear our too quickly.
